Point beat Simpson 78-60 early this season on a neutral floor. I don't know anything about Simpson (other than Lisa and Bart run a killer pick-and-roll), but I know when Egner gets an opponent the second time around her game plans are usually well sharpened. I think the Pointers win by 20.

Point gets it done 82-75. UWSP led the vast majority of the game but never totally blew away the Storm (pun intended).

Sectional will be Coe vs. Ill. Wesleyan and UWSP vs. Louisiana College/George Fox winner. Geography will eliminate anyone not in the Midwest. Coe and IWU are both #1 ranked teams in the last regional poll that was made public. UWSP was a #2 behind IWU. I wonder if Coe's gym qualifies for a sectional? If so, I'd wager they'd give it Coe, in part because IWU had it last year.

I doubt that would give it to Coe just because Illinois Wesleyan had it last year.  If they get it this year then they earned it with their on court record.

The women's sectionals will be hosted at Thomas More, UW-Stevens Point, Amherst and Lebanon Valley.

NCAA website says "Berg Gym" but I assume they'll play the Sectional round in Quandt like in the past.  I'm not sure Berg meets the capacity requirement for a sectional anymore.

I am surprised, but I was there in 2002 at the sectional in Berg and it was fantastic. I guess the team wanted their true home court.

Last year, UWSP knocked BOTH Titan teams out of the tourney.  This year I predicted they would do in the men again, but the Tommies beat you to it.

Lady Titans, it is REVENGE time. :D  Regional stats say it should be Shirk, but you beat 'em in Berg once before; do it again! 8-)

The committee finally gave us its final rankings today. Would have been helpful a week ago.

Their final flip-flop on IWU/ UWSP explains why UWSP is hosting the sectional.  As I expressed 3 weeks ago, I was kinda surprised that IWU was still ahead of UWSP.  But I call foul on switching them NOW.  Between the times the last published rankings were considered and these FINALLY published standings come out, UWSP went 2-0, IWU went 3-0.

I can see no reason by their criteria why the sectional is not in Bloomington, but it is not a big deal (just another inconsistency from the selection committee).  Stacey, Nikki, Olivia, Hope, Holly, etc., just get it done - you're hosting the FF, be good hosts and SHOW UP this year! :o ;D

Noticed the regional score form not tagged for final rating.  Any indication when the committee will provide it?  Was there any explanation why, after four consecutive weeks the committee ranked IWU #1 and UWSP #2, it reversed the two teams?

I can rationalize either team at #1; but, for the committee to release the ranking after the tournament started and before the sectional host pick provides more questions than answers.

Typically they don't release the final rankings at all, so consider this a step forward.

The only thing that changed was who IWU was playing.  The beat three teams who weren't ranked in the regional rankings while SP beat WW, who was ranked 3rd.  I think it is clear that this win bumped them ahead of IWU giving them more regional ranked wins.

Just wondering...your two statements on the sectional seem to contradict one another.  If the selection committee looks at the latest rankings, shouldn't Point be the host?  What criteria are you referring to that would have the sectional in Bloomington?

If you make the trip to Point this weekend, I hope you enjoy the atmosphere of playoff basketball at the Berg.
