I'm surprised that no one has mentioned the UWO-Lawrence score from Tuesday night: Lawrence 56 UW-Oshkosh 65.  Is UWO that bad that they can't pull away from a program that's won 3 games in 3 years?  Lawrence lost to Marian by 30 last night.  Looks like UWO will be competing with UW Sup for last place.

UWW's win over Carroll was impressive.  I think Carroll averages almost 80 points a game in conference, not that that's saying much in the MWC though. But holding a team 20 points under their average is tough.

UWO is now 5-0 after beating Loras yesterday.  They haven't beaten the best of teams so far but they're far from the bottom of the conference. They face a stiff test Saturday at home v. Wheaton.

That's too bad for Bethany.  She really impressed me on Saturday.  Hopefully she can rebound from this.

Wasn't aware that Mark N. had been ejected.  Middle of the first half, Dubuque was still leading.  What triggered the ejection?

Full box score wasn't available last night when I posted.  Now I see that both teams were charged with a technical at 2:25 of the first period.  What was that all about?

Blue Devil Backer

it was at the 2:25 mark on a dead ball out-of-bounds right in front of where I sit the ref on this side T Mark Noll up and before she got to the table the ref T him up for his second and he was gone nobody that I talked to on the table or players heard what he said that when Sami shot the 4 free throws  box score had it wrong as one each

Backer has it right. No T on "T". Both were on Noll while the clock was stopped. Too bad since he was back in his old stomping grounds. I wasn't close to the Dubuque bench but I was watching and Noll didn't seem to excited after the first T. Maybe the ref needed to play it a little cool right about then before ejecting the coach..

Well, now that makes at least a little bit of sense to me...  I was looking for a technical on Mark N in the box score but only found the (incorrect) listing of a T on both teams.

2:25 is a little bit later than the "middle" of the first half so that was also a little confusing.

I've been around Mark N enough to know that it's normally not his style to get T'd up once, much less twice on one time out.

WHITEWATER'S Kaitlyn Thill named WIAC Player of the Week

Thill scored in double digits all three games during the week as UW-Whitewater improved its record to 5-1. In an 80-72 win against Illinois Wesleyan University on Nov. 23, she led the Warhawks with 21 points, two rebounds, three assists and three steals. Thill followed up that performance with 11 points, one rebound, two assists and seven steals in the 66-52 victory against the University of Dubuque (Iowa) on Nov. 26, at the Quality Inn and Suites Turkey Shootout in Menomonie, Wis. In UW-Whitewater's last game at the Turkey Shootout against the College of St. Scholastica (Minn.) on Nov. 27, Thill had 15 points, four rebounds, five assists and seven steals as the Warhawks won 76-46.

The best thing I can say about last night's game between Stout and Winona was that the Lady Devils held Winona scoreless for the 3 minutes and 58 seconds of the game and held the lead for over 5 minutes.

Winona went on a 20 - 0 run after trailing 5 - 0 to open the game and never looked back.

Final score was 80 - 42.

Looks like a great start to the season so far for many teams in the conference.  If I had to do some power rankings, I would sort them like this:

SP (Very Impressive so far)
RF (Very Talented in the backcourt)
WW (Tough loss to Milikin but big win over IWU)
Osh (Not buying YET, but have looked good)
EC (Close losses, good win at Norberts)
Sup (Better every year)
Platt (Better defensive team than credit for)
Stout (Even though low ranking, could beat anyone on a given night)
LX (I will not be buying at all this season)

Of course I am open to debate to see some other lists.  After the top 3, it could really go anywhere.

Here's how I see it, I grouped teams together that in my opinion are pretty equal:

WI Stevens Pt

WI River Falls
WI Whitewater

WI Eau Claire
WI Oshkosh

WI LaCrosse

WI Superior
WI Stout

WI Platteville

Some things that surprise me are Platteville beating Millikin and WW losing to them.  I watched WW's loss on the internet and it seems like they are lacking depth up front.  Also, La Crosse losing to Loras, I know it was only summer ball but I saw RF's freshman beat a team of Loras's returners at the Dells in August.  Maybe that does go towards proving LAX isn't very strong.  Starting Saturday we'll see how things are going to shake out.  To me the wild card in the league this year is Oshkosh, I think they might be pretty good.

WHITEWATER played Millikin without Chantel Burg.  While I wouldn't say that we're deep in the front court having Burg back definitely adds to the mix.  She's played pretty well since returning.

I'm not suggesting Burg would have made the difference against Millikin either.  Millikin shot better from beyond the arc and had a significant advantage from the charity stripe.

badgerwarhawk, you're right, she would have been a help.  Watching WW play in person I'm always used to seeing the dark haired girl with the bun on top of her head and the headband over her ears, watching on a little computer screen I couldn't see she was missing.

I generally agree with this but I might bump that Superior/Stout group with LAX.  I know the records so far don't indicate that so much but both of those teams have one thing they can bank on (Stout-force TOs, Superior-Experience) I just don't see that for LAX but their record is much better. LAX might beat both of those teams but not beat a team ahead of them while I think Stout or Superior could nip a playoff team. Again overall I agree with the groups here.
