I need evidence that UW-Superior live stats often don't work. If you've had trouble, please reply. Thanks

The one from Eau claire was working last night.  I will try to check it out on saturday.  I was having some weirdness on my Android last night but the Play by Play worked.  The live stats worked greate when I got home

Just interested in live stats from Superior. I usually don't have trouble w/other schools' live stats.

Why are there suddenly players missing from Stevens Point womens roster?

Who are you referring to?

The roster on their website (17 players): http://athletics.uwsp.edu/roster.aspx?path=wbball&

is identical to the stats for those who have played (17 players): http://athletics.uwsp.edu/custompages/wbball/2012-13/teamcume.htm#TEAM.IND

I don't see anyone who played previously who's not on the roster now.

Found out Taylor Bahr will transfer to Wisconsin Lutheran.  Maybe not well accepted since stats were exsponged.

You said "players" as in the plural form, right?

WARHAWKS: 57
Eau Claire: 43

Eau Claire led in the early going until Mary Merg's three-pointer captured the lead, 7-5, for the WARHAWKS with three minutes gone.  The lead continued to grow to a high of twelve points, 17-5, when Amy Mandrell sunk a layup at the fifteen minute marker.  Eau Claire would cut the lead to seven points before the WARHAWKS moved it back to thirteen points,  23-10.  Eau Claire once again closed the gap, this time to five points, 25-20.  The WARHAWKS scored the last four points of the half and it ended with the score 29-20.  Eau Claire had a cold half shooting only
28% including 1 of 7 from beyond the arc while the WARHAWKS shot 48% and hit 3 o 9 three-pointers.  The WARHAWKS held a 14-4 edge in points off of turnovers.  The WARHAWKS lead grew to thirteen points in the first minute and half of the second half but Eau Claire made a run cutting the lead to four, 35-31, with twelve and half minutes to play.  The WARHAWKS responded and over the next couple of minutes built the lead back into double digits where, with one exception, it remained for the rest of the game having reached a high of seventeen.

Mary Merg led the WARHAWKS with a game high 13 points.  Megan Theune added 11 points in support.  Theune had a game high 2 steals and Kaitlyn Thill's 3 assists were also a game high.  Courtney Kumerow pulled down a team high 7 rebounds.

No BluGold scored in double figures.  Courtney Lewis led EauClaire with 9 points.  The BluGolds suffered a big loss when Sarah Bingea appeared to sprain her ankle with twenty seconds remaining in the first half and was unable to play in the second one.  Shannon Riley had a game high 8 rebounds.

Other Games:

Oshkosh: 58  ... Katelyn Kuehl 23 points - 16-17 free throws, Megan Wenig 19 points
LaCrosse: 46  ... Briana Radowicz 19, Erin Levenhagen 13 rebounds

LaCrosse scores six more baskets including two additional three-pointers but the Titans hit 29 of 33 free throws.

Superior: 78  ... Sally Linzmeier double-double 21 points, 10 rebounds
Stevens Point: 89  ... Sam Barber 27 points, 9 rebounds.

Superior takes the lead in the first minute and holds it until just 27 seconds remain when the Pointers go ahead.  However Sam Urmanski saves the day when she drills a three pointer at the buzzer and sends the game into overtime 69-69.  The overtime is all Pointers as they take the lead, build it to thirteen and hold it at eleven when the game ends.

River Falls: 61  ... Brittney Georgrich double-double 17 points, 10 rebounds, Richell Mehus 14 points
Platteville: 60  ... Elizabeth Lawinger 15 points, Alyssa Krajco 14 points

River Falls sinks 23 of 32 free throws to 6 of 11 for the Pioneers and overcomes a first half deficit to win.

Player of the Year ?

Point's Sam Barber is averaging 19 points which ranks her first in scoring, 143 rebounds ranking third and 21 blocks putting her fourth.  Superior's Sally Linzmeier is averaging 17.3 points which ranks her second, 136 rebounds ranking sixth, 60 assists ranking her eighth and 71 steals which is second.  These two are the front runners in my opinion.  If forced to chose between the two and assuming their respective positions are maintained I'd go with Barber.  But, honestly, primarily because she is a senior and Linzmeier a sophomore.  Though I readily admit chosing just one of them short changes the other and it wouldn't shock me to see both of them share the honor.

Also considered but not quite rising to the same level were EauClaire's Sarah Bingea, Oshkosh's Megan Wendig, LaCrosse's Briana Radowicz, River Falls' Brittney Gregorich and WHITEWATER'S Courtney Kumerow in no particular order.

I'd agree with the Barber pick for POY, but I'd pick Linzmeier as the MVP, seeings how much improved Superior is this season. But then again, picking her as MVP would perhaps slight Barber.  ;) Barber, Kumerow and Wendig 1-2-3 for POY

I'd pick Bingea as the runner up for MVP, since her leadership has been important on a young UWEC squad, with Barber third..... Radowicz and Gregorich would round out my top five MVP spots...

thrunt01

Hard to deny Barber given both her numbers and the "eye test." Haven't seen Gregorich play but averaging a double double is pretty impressive. Bingea totally passed the "eye test" for me when I saw her but her numbers don't stack up and she only shot the ball 4 times last week against Superior. I'll get a chance to see her again tonight so we'll see if she is able to match her previous performance or if what I saw was a bit of a fluke. Hard for me to accurately assess Wenig having seen her play so often. It makes it easier for me to pick apart her flaws despite obviously being a huge asset to her team. I would be remiss if I did not mention Linzmeier. Numbers are totally there but the time I saw her play this year both she and Urmanski were way off. All that being said IMHO Barber is clearly the best player in this conference. I'll reserve judgement as to were everyone else falls until I get to see more from each of them.

Hoopsguy45

Barber and Linzmeier are the top two players to consider for POY in my opinion.

Barber winning would not be a crime against humanity, nor would Linzmeier.  That being said I have a feeling Barber wins it this year and Linzmeier gets two more years to try and duplicate her performance.  I hope she does!

phoenix_rising

Me, too.

Selfishly--because Superior has never even been considered for discussion before--next year, I hope the debate is between Linzmeier and Nett

WARHAWKS: 58
LaCrosse: 56

LaCrosse opened the scoring on a three-pointer by Briana Radowicz and with the exception of four ties led for the entire first half though the lead never exceeded six points.  A layup by the WARHAWKS Courtney Kumerow with 5 seconds remaining tied the game 27-27 at the half.  The two teams shooting percentages were close (WW: 37%, LX: 39%) but the Eagles hit on 3 of 6 three-pointers while the WARHAWKS connected on just 1 of 5.  The Eagles also held a 14-4 scoring edge in points off of turnovers.  Radowicz's 16 led all scorers while Warhawk senior forward Cortney Kumerow blocked three shots in the half, making her the second women's player, and the third in all of WARHAWKS basketball history, to total 1,000 points, 500 rebounds and 100 blocked shots.  The WARHAWKS grabbed their first lead when Kumerow's layup was good two minutes into the second half.  The lead grew to twelve points twice over the next ten minutes.  Trailing 52-40 the Eagles went on a 10-1 run and cut the deficit to three points 53-50 with just under five minutes remaining.  However the WARHAWKS responded to go back up by six 57-51 on Lisa Palmer's layup with less than two minutes to play.  The Eagles made one final push and with one minute to play pulled withing a point 57-56.  Kaitlyn Thill's free throw made the difference a pair 58-56 when with 9 seconds left the Eagles missed a shot but went to the free throw line when fouled on the rebound.  However the Eagles missed the bonus throw and turned the ball over to end the game.

Kumerow's 16 points led the WARHAWKS and her 8 rebounds tied for the game high while her 3 blocks were the game high.  Kaitlyn Thill added 14 points and her 3 assists and 3 steals were game highs.

Radowicz's 22 points led the Eagles.

In other gyms:

Superior - 77  ... Kristin Nett 16
Stout - 52  ... Katelynne Folkers 11
Superior up ten at half, coasts in the second stanza.

Stevens Point - 79  ... Liz Atloff 15
Platteville - 60  ... Alyssa Krajo 16
Point up twenty at the half, playing substitutes significant minutes.

EauClaire at Oshkosh was postponed due to the weather and will be played tonight.

QuoteI'd pick Bingea as the runner up for MVP, since her leadership has been important on a young UWEC squad

A lot of the teams seem to be pretty young; not many players making it to junior or senior years, the exception being LaCrosse and Stevens Point, where about half are juniors or seniors. For the rest of the teams, juniors and seniors make up about 1/3 or 1/4.

At Superior, on-court leadership seems to be held by a senior (Urmanski) and a sophomore (Linzmeier). I think, however, the sophomore, buoyed by players who seem to like the style, models the kind of play the team is (finally) engaged in. I think the older players provide a sense of stability and maybe some calm within the storm, but it's the younger players that provide the flash. Superior has needed flash for a long time and just never had the depth to provide it--it certainly can't be done by a single player.

Last night Superior played Stout in what I considered a grudge match--we lost horribly in Menomonie--and it was interesting. My allegiance has shifted, and now it's good to see Superior be able to rotate all its able-bodied players onto the floor--beginning with more than five minutes left in the game--and still maintain a comfortable lead.

I seriously hope this lasts, because it's a good feeling I don't want to lose.

Surely you jest, or simply typed the wrong team. Of the 15 players on UWL's roster only 4 are upperclassmen. Yes their best players are both Seniors but they have 9 freshmen. Look out for the Eagles in 3 years if Coach Heeren is able to keep them around.
