i wouldn't even if i could, mr. ypsi.

I like your attitude, and just 'applauded' you (which raised you TWO points, since it undoes my earlier smite, then adds a karma point).  But enough on the sign!! :o ::)

Yeah, they were in apparent violation of a rule; but as the saying goes: 'no harm, no foul'. ;)

yes, i think that there is nothing else to say.  here's hoping for a great final four for all the teams at hope this weekend.

Is the rule in a book somewhere? If it's a rule in the book, but "not a big deal", why have it on the books?

One of my biggest pet peeves in my job is the phrase, "Oh, it's not that big of a deal." when it comes to rules, no matter how big or small. But, the people that sidestep things like that are the people that sidestep as much as possible, whenever possible.

Congrats to the Warhawks. Can't say I bet on that, but an impressive run. They farther thay make it, the more impressive the WIAC looks to everyone. I still wonder how far 5 teams from the WIAC would get if they made it in the tourney.

Here? A sign. Whatever. If even I can't be bothered to care about it then I don't think it's a particularly big deal.

Now this is funny.  ;) +k to the Guru.

Ok, I've done some checking and here is the official word regarding the advertising signage in Williams Center on our campus.  Our advertising signage is a contractual obligation between the university and the advertiser.  As such the NCAA does not require that it be covered during their their regional and sectional events.  If we were to host the Final Four we would need to conform to the NCAA corporate sponor agreements which would require us to cover the signage.

So no rules were broken after all.  The NCAA rep did do his job, very well I might add, and wasn't manipulated by Coach Carollo.  Apparently the UW-W athletic department having hosted numerous NCAA post season events is familiar with the rules.  Who would have thought it ???

rabblerouser, if your university has been covering their contractually obligated signage with advertisers during the numerous events they have hosted they probably owe them a refund of some sort.  Hopefully you can clarify the NCAA's position with them now.   ;)

Outstanding job at journalisticly researching the "signage" issue.  Thanks for bringing some sanity to the 36 hour firestorm started by a poster that goes by the handle cciwrabblerouser.

In the wake of all the b*tching that I read on this board the past week over the complaints that Hope, not Whitewater, should have hosted the Sweet 16, UWW has elected to travel to Holland this weekend via Cleveland as a penance for the NCAA's decision to have the Sweet 16 in Whitewater.

cciwrabblerouser

just a note ...

we have never permitted advertising at any of our athletics facilities.  we haven't had to resort to that (yet).

and a comment ...

i hear that cleveland is just lovely this time of year ... ::)

love your TP comment, voice.  hut, believe me, i've sat on enough toilet seats in so many colleges and universities through the years that i 'know' institutional toilet paper -- and it's never two-ply.  well, who knows... maybe in the ivy league and the nescac it's the double-ply version ... can anyone help with an answer???????

cciwrabblerouser - it's time to go back, back to the CCIW.

WARHAWKS point guard Kaitlyn Thill is just three steals away from tying the WIAC career total record of 307 currently held by EauClaire's Sue Christianson.  Thill has 304 steals entering the weekend.  With her senior season still to be played and averaging roughly 100 steals a season Thill could establish a significantly higher career total.

okie dokie, JMM.  actually, though, i kinda think that we're a lot alike.  your karma total of -221 is almost inspirational.  so long, my wisconsin friends, i've enjoyed our interaction.  in going, i feel like 'joliet jake' and elwood blues ... The WIAC dominates the Central's all region team.

Sam Barber not only was a member of the first team she was also the Central Region Player of the Year.   Members of the second team included Connie Urmanski, Briana Radowicz and Courtney Kumerow.  Brittany Gregorich and Sarah Bingea were named to the third team bringing the total to six of the fifteen players named.

Keri Carollo was named the Central Region Coach of the Year.

Congrats to all.

Sorry WW guys.  You guys have every right to tell this guy to not not be on "our board" and not get us all fired up regarding who hosts, who doesn't, and whatever.  You can tell by my comments that Stout has been done for quite some time now so as you can tell, I don't care that much.  But here is the deal.  I have not enjoyed something so much in years from this rather boring board until I watched ccwrabblerouser's Jeff Gordon Pepsi discussion.  I defy anyone not to at least smile as they watch this.
