EauClaire: 53
WARHAWKS: 73

The BluGolds led for much of the first half gaining their largest lead 13-7 about six and half minutes into the game.  With the BluGolds leading by a pair the WARHAWKS closed out the first half with a 13-3 and held a 30-22 lead when it ended.  EauClaire got to within six points 34-28 in the first four minutes of the second stanza but would get no closer as the WARHAWKS made a 13-2 run and would never lead by fewer than ten points for the remainder of the game.

Mary Merg led the WARHAWKS with 14 points.  Abbie Reeves went 3-4 from beyond the arc and finished with 13 points while Amy Mandrell added 12 and Kristin Ruchti rounded out the double digit scorers with 11 points.  Kaitlyn Thill pulled down a game high 7 rebounds and added 3 assists and a game high 3 steals.  Reeves finished with a game high 5 assists.

Courtney Lewis led the BluGolds with 14 points.  Abbie Mitlien and Kristin Sahr both scored 10 points for EauClaire.  Lewis rounded out a double-double pulling down 11 rebounds.

With the win the WARHAWKS became the sixth team in conference history to finish the regular season with a perfect 16-0 record.

I don't see how Whitewater can lose this tournament.  They seem to be playing better recently and really steamrolling anyone in their way.  As a longtime Pointer fan, I'm hoping that they can quickly turn things around and get hot for at least a week, as they've done the last few years.  Realistically, I think there's a very good chance that the Warhawks could be calling the Quandt "home" for the Final 4 in a few weeks. I hope that the WIAC fans will show up and support any WIAC team thats fortunate to make it that far.  It could be a great March weekend both here and in Salem.

All it takes is an off night and things can go south in a hurry.

It's likely that the only way Point makes the post season is by winning the conference's automatic bid and Shirley has a way of getting her team to respond to pressure like that so it wouldn't surprise me if they were to rise to the occassion.

I'm looking forward to the Final Four being this close to home and more than likely will take in at least the first night whether it includes WARHAWKS or not.

Point drills Platteville 77-61 behind Alyssa Olp's 18 points.  Linzmeier goes off for 32 and Superior gets past Stout 86-81.  Oshkosh hosts Point and the WARHAWKS host Superior in the semifinals Thursday night.

Point's postseason basically began last night with their win over the Pioneers.  Shirley said Olp played her best game in 4 years.  Point came out on a mission and led 19-4 less than 6 minutes into the game.  They increased it to 26 points and saw it dwindle to 8 in the 2nd half before building it up again.  This team can be a factor, as it had chances to beat Oshkosh twice - an OT loss and 4 point loss - and played WW tough for 32 minutes before going ice cold the last 8 minutes.  If they can continue to play with the emotion I saw last night (and make free throws) I'm looking forward to Thursday and hopefully Saturday.  BW, why do I feel that I am posting this only for you?

badgerwarhawk

I'm just glad that I'm not posting to myself anymore.  I don't know what happened to everyone who used to hang out here but you're presence is a breath of fresh air.

No, I always read. I just don't see enough games to make many observations.

Whoever that was that predicated Platteville would win the conference should come back. That didn't happen, but UWP clearly made some big strides this season.

My favorite Pointer sports week of the year...I'll be at all BB and fill in with hockey
Tuesday...Womens BB
Thursday...Womens BB at Oshkosh.  Fan bus for $10
Friday...Mens BB, Mens hockey, Womens hockey - All in Point at 7 PM >:(
Saturday...Mens Hockey & Womens hockey in Point.  Womens BB??? Point or WW ???
Sunday...Mens BB?? vs. WW?  Battle of 1 vs. 2?

So many sports, yet so little time.

Point got crushed as did whitewater who saw that coming?

Losing was bad enough but losing in the manner in which we did was embarrassing.  The Yellow Jackets outplayed us in every way imaginable.  Nothing to do now but wait and see if the body of our work has been good enough to get us into the NCAA postseason.

Yeah, I couldn't believe how the UWW-UWS game went down. I don't think there's any way UWW doesn't get a bid to the NCAAs. Win percentage and SOS is just too high.

Gotta be the biggest win in Superior women's basketball history. Or at least the last 20 years.

Congrats to Don and UW Superior.  I have been to two games this year and I am thinking they have finally brought it all together.  The exiting thing for them is most of the team returns next year.  If they can shoot anywhere close to last night they have chance on Saturday.
