Last week of the abbreviated regular season and, in Wednesday night's cross-over games, the East swept the West.  Tomorrow night should be interesting to see if any of the West teams can reverse that trend heading into next Monday's first round WIAC tourney games.

For two programs this week, the number 25 is probably considered lucky. For many, it represents the bottom of a Top 25 ranking, but for those in the 25th slot ... it means they are ranked.

St. John Fisher hasn't been ranked since "Desperate Housewives," "Boston Legal," "The Shield," and "Fear Factor" where some of the most popular shows on television. The top movie was "Coach Carter." However, Coach Melissa Kuberka has gotten her Cardinals squad back into the rankings after a terrific start to the 2021-22 season. We talk to her about the team's success and how the rest of the season could shape up.

For DeSales, there were signs they were going to be good during the COVID season. Not all teams are able to duplicate that short-season success, but the Bulldogs are off to an undefeated start. Coach Scott Coval discusses just how good the team is and why we haven't seen the unit at it's very best. Plus, one can still break a backboard in today's game? DeSales found out it is possible.

Plus, Yeshiva is getting plenty of attention now that they have been ranked #1 in the D3hoops.com Top 25 poll the last few weeks. But do you really know the Macabees and their program? We talk to Gary Belsky who wrote an expose on the program for ESPN. It's a must read and a must listen to segment.

And UW-Eau Claire Athletics have big plans for future Blugolds and DIII championships. Introducing the $70 million Sonnetag Center. AD Dan Schumacher discusses the significant way UWEC could shift championships and even regional recruiting by 2024.

The EC-Platteville game at Platteville was been postponed.  The road conditions were to risky and the bus turned back.

Coach Fischer seems like a great guy but his understanding of the disease is flawed.

First off, Titan Q -- I love your interviews. They're really well done.

Second, I don't know enough about the disease to dissect Coach Fischer's stance on it. But I appreciate how articulately and candidly he explained his thinking and his approach to all of this. I feel for him and all the coaches trying to figure this all out.

Third, I was struck by (and maybe a little jealous of) how often UWO is able to test their players. Maybe that's the case for all schools or true of that part of the country. Here where I live (near Philadelphia) tests are really hard to get, so hard that my children's primary care doctor emailed us proactively to tell us not to ask because there's no capacity. The emergency rooms in my County are also reportedly at or near capacity.

It is a serious problem.  As a society, we are over testing otherwise healthy people and under testing the most vulnerable.

As an aside, for the 3-4 people who knock my karma every time I mention Covid, if it is because you do not want to read about Covid, then fair enough.  If it is because you believe I am wrong, message me...  Let's talk.

Think I'll head over to a Covid discussion board and post clips on officiating of Hope-IWU game

This would be perfectly fair if our response to Covid was not impacting games...

gordonmann

It's also almost entirely the subject of the interview that we're discussing.

Although watch to the end for Coach Fisher's thoughts on officiating in the Hope-IWU game! :)

Also good for that board Covid impacts basketball using your logic.  Maybe they can be experts on basketball. As it appears we're blessed with Covid experts on this board

I would approach the board differently if I knew it cost you something with every post.

And I did approve of the smiting with my fair enough remark.  But if someone does not like the content of my post, I rather talk it out.  Obviously that is not you, but no matter.

Jester1390

I just had someone message me that i talk on hcac board. It appears whoever doesn't like me and lol there's a couple. Are also smiting people who talk to me I guess.  If you need to smite it's all good. But now it's just the boy who cried wolf. Doesn't mean anything when you smite.  I have never ran away from having a discussion. I am guilty of pushing buttons but it is pretty easy to do on here.    Just like when I posted about sosa.  The first line is a joke making fun of just how the world is out of site out of mind but it was followed up with a serious discussion about what a player felt in her playing.  Instead of saying other players who have a reputation for a quick release. The attacks happen. Look if you want to be in a bubble and only hear approval of your viewpoint.  Then I am guy just skip over and pretend I don't know anything.   The pillow will still be cool when I lay my head down

WIACer

I would love to know how much money is funded by the govt? To the NCAA, to the UW system. I don't believe each institution has the capability to test all students and afford it. You know it's like, here is some money. In order to have this money make sure you test your athletes, students on campus, faculty and staff. Money Science.
