It got hairy down the stretch but we made just enough free throws to put it away.  GO WARHAWKS

I took a fun trip down memory lane this week in preparation for the rare 1-versus-2 matchup with have in the title game. UW-Eau Claire head coach Tonja Englund was nice enough to help me along the way...

Many congratulations to Megan Wilson and her staff on a terrific season. It was a lot of fun to follow. Very cool Megan will return next season to represent Region IX, however not as chair.

UWRF hires interim Shelby Lyman as Women's Head Coach. Not sure if a national search but surprising. Wish her the best. I got to see their great facilities last year. They really haven't been a factor over a number of years.

Hopefully this news reached Stout last night when the poll was released but just in case, congrats to the Blue Devils on their first Top 25 appearance since the 2009-10 preseason rankings!

Is anyone here? Seems not.

Yeah, not sure why we haven't seen any posters on here this season...I'll do my best to post more frequently here as well.

I think this speaks to the high quality of the rosters, but there are not many "Newcomers" playing tons across the WIAC.

This list doesn't currently include any EC or LC players.

"Newcomers" would be players new to the roster, or who have been on the roster, but played very few min last year:

I just watched UW-Stout def. UW-Whitewater in the WIAC semifinals tonight, and after asking if UW-Stout needed to also def. UW-Oshkosh on Friday to become a bid thief, the consensus among women's bracketologists Scott Peterson and Riley Zayas was that UW-Stout became a bid thief tonight by playing their way into a Pool C invite to the NCAA DIII Women's Basketball Tournament if they lose on Friday.  The win tonight over UW-Whitewater gave Stout 2 wins over the #1 ranked team in Region IX-- which is probably enough given Stout's winning pct. and SOS to get one of the 21 Pool C bids on Monday should Stout not be able to get their ticket automatically punched Friday night.

UW-Whitewater is now projected to be the first Pool C invite on Monday, and UW-Oshkosh is a lock for a  Pool C invite on Monday if the Titans need it.

Any thoughts on how the 3 WIAC teams potentially matchup against the top 3 nationally ranked and undefeated teams-- Rhode Island College, Transylvania, or NYU if the NCAA DIII Women's Basketball National Committee p  Having watched a lot of NYU this season, I am confident that NYU can beat any of those 3 WIAC teams.   Not sure about RI College or Transy this year, although Transy has proven in the past that they can compete with their defense anywhere in the country no matter where the game is played.   Also, would any of these matchups potentially happen in the Sweet 16/Elite 8 round, or could they only happen if the matchup is in the Final Four in Columbus, OH?

Totally agree. NYU is a step above anyone else. It will take a miracle for someone to beat the Violets. From what I've seen Oshkosh and Whitewater (on the Warhawks good nights and they've had a few bad ones recently) can hang with and possibly beat Transy and RIC in the E8 or FF.

Voice of the Titans

3 in, 2 hosting, just as anticipated. Should be some interesting games. Hopefully all 3 can make it to the Sweet 16!

NYU probably gives more fits to Stout than to Whitewater and Oshkosh, as those 2 have better post play.
But I think NYU is a step above all 3 to be honest, they start 4 All Americans, it's like a WIAC all conf team starting.  Take Froehlke, Sorensen, Carollo, Grundahl, Vaile, and Mackiewicz and I'd take them on.  haha

Would also love to see all 3 in the Sweet 16!  If Stout can get by WashU and Carroll, I can see them playing with Transy, who isn't quite as good as last year.  Stout has been on a 9 game lose and go home stretch (to make the NCAA Tourney).  Transy has not had to deal with anything like that.

I noticed an interesting uniform rule change last night when a Milikin player wore the #7.  Previously numbers that required more than 5 fingers for officials to display were illegal.  But now we could see numbers like 99, 77, etc.

UW-Stout 61
Puget Sound 40

Stout never trailed in the game shooting around 50% the entire game while limiting Puget Sound to 25% shooting. Blue Devils will face the defending national champs Transylvania in the Sweet 16.
