UWP

Kind of confused... ???  Stout played Superior last night, not UWO - we played them on Saturday.  But both games were won by a large margin - UWO shot under 30%, with no 3 pointers.  Superior shot better at 36.4%, but only took 44 shots.

UWL does seem to have fallen on hard times as of late.

UWEC and UWW still have to play each other, and who ever loses, most likely is virtually eliminated from the D3 tourney unless they win the WIAC tourney.  Any other losses in their remaining schedules make a D3 bid even more unlikely.

The attendance at RF was 287 last night, not 522.  River just can't seem to get a good crowd at home - despite having a very good team.

Huge win for the WARHAWKS last night.  Their first in Point since January 2000.   The first half was played very competitively.  The WARHAWKS took the lead at the 16 minute mark and though they build it to as large as nine points they were never able to pull away and the half ended with them up by two, 27-25.   Stevens Point regained the lead 36-34 in the first seven minutes of the second half, built it a high of six points and held it for the next seven minutes of play.   At that point a layup by Dana Thompson tied the game and after a Pointer turnover a jumper by Lindsey Buechner gave the lead back to the WARHAWKS for good 49-47.    The WARHAWKS sealed the deal by going 6-8 from the free throw down the stretch.    WW shot 50% from the floor in the second half while Point was held to 25% shooting.

Buechner, Tiffany Morton and Nicole Bundy led WW with 13 points apiece.  Morton and Thompson finished with a team high 6 rebounds and Bundy was 3-5 from beyond the arch.

Great win but it only makes the game in River Falls more important.  If the WARHAWKS want to accomplish what they set out to do we have to win these road games.  Last night was a confidence booster but we can't let down Saturday.

To Foul Language and other fans of UWS Basketball: Listened to the game on the radio today. Sounds like the Lady jackets shot the lights out and frustrated my Pioneers. Congragulations on a nice victory. Coach Combs, from UWP Men commented on the nice crowd. God Bless!

WARHAWKS hold their share of second place with a solid 73-57 win over River Falls.   River Falls scored the first five points of the game and led by as many as 11 points in the first 18 minutes of play.  But WW rallied over the final two minutes.  A steal, an old fashioned three point play and another three pointer all by Trisha Thill over the last 50 seconds of play pushed them into a 33-29 lead when the half ended.  RF's kept the lead at two or four through the first four minutes of the second half but WW began to pull away and built leads in double digits after that.  RF did get the lead under double figures but each time the WARHAWKS responded to push it back into a comfort zone.

WHITEWATER shoots 53% from the floor, including 8-17 from beyond the arch, against the best defense in the league (Champ's assessment, not necessarily mine ;)) and in their gym.   Five WARHAWKS score in double figures led by Lindsey Buechner's 17 (Sara Moran 12 on 4 3's, Nicole Bundy and Thill 11 each and Dana Thompson 10) .

Excellent win, second straight on the road.  WHITEWATER improves to 10-4 in league play and 17-6 overall.  It's the program's highest win total since 1989.

Congrats BW!!!  That is a great win on the road against a very tough team.

Point's up by two over Stout, 37 - 35 at the half.  Hopefully we're wearing them down for the second half - they've got 4 players with 2 fouls...

Boy, visions of the River Falls game... :o

Jenny McDermid gets three fouls in about 30 seconds and is out of the game with 5.  At River Falls, Kelsey Duoss got 3 fouls in 2 seconds... ???

With all the fouls, Point scores the first 7 points of the half.

Congrats to the Pointer Seniors on a win on Senior DAy. Looks like big games from Sporle, Neuenfeldt, and Kranz....Lechault had a big defensive day! Good to see Senior Becky Pepper getting a chance to contribute to a big win. Hopefully they can ride this momentum through the rest of the season....it is always a confidence booster to beat a team like Stout.

Sounded like an ugly game TO wise....20+ for both teams
