Yep. Angie Foschi did decide to hang up her shoes, having had two ACL surgeries over her playing career... Last night, during the team's intrasquad game, she was on the bench as a student assistant coach; she  hopes to pursue coaching at some point...

Re recent posts here regarding Ashley Imperiale: Yep, the first-team all-state guard plans to transfer from UWL to UW-Milwaukee, to try to make it as a walk on (as confirmed in today's La Crosse Tribune)...

When is she going to transfer at semester or after the ball season ends
If you wanna be good practice till you get it right, if you wanna be great practice till you cant get it wrong..

I think the article said semester. But if it didn't say it ... that's the word

WARHAWK women dominate Lake Forest though the first session was close with WW holding a five point lead when it ended.  The second session was an entirely different matter as our size and the tempo wore Lake Forest down and we won by twenty five points.

Tonight and tomorrow I'm hosting several of the Running Lady Blue Devil parents at the Mankato State University "Pepsi Tip-Off" Tournament (my employer is a major corporate sponsor at MSU - so I was able to get 18 comped tickets for both games... ;D).

Tonight we'll play MSU and tomorrow we'll play St. Cloud State - a pair of DII teams.

It'll be interesting to see how the ladies perform against these teams after playing the Badgers in an exhibition game two weeks ago.

Tough competition to start the season, but it's a good challenge for the young team!!!

Champ,

I sent you a PM.  Please check it.

Well, on the first night of the season, Platteville squeezes out a win, Point wins comfortably, UWL wins a defensive battle (42-26), no UWO score yet, and the grand finale for the evening.......  UWW wins AT #13 Millikin 92-46.  HELLO!!!

Hendrickson, the transfer from Madison, scores 14pts and has 6 steals in 21min.  Morton leads the team with 21pts.

Falcon women beat St. Mary's tonight... 74-61

Played much better than i excepted.

No one real scoring threat, a true team effort.

I did get to see UW-River Falls scrimmage against GAC this last Tuesday night and while I was somewhat disappointed with GAC's performance that night I couldn't help but be somewhat impressed with the hustle and speed that UWRF has.  Guess they'd better be able to run as they have what appears to be really only one true post player (a freshman, I believe, at that).

Would love to see some more MIAC vs. WIAC sometime down the road.

The year after Millikin took the D3 championship, they came back ugly. Is Ippel playing? She was incredible as a freshman. Do they start slow? Lay in the weeds? Or is UWW going to be the dominant team?

Yes, Ippel is still playing.  Without looking it up, I believe she is a preseason first team All American.  She was the leading scorer for Millikin tonight.

UWEC wins AT #12 Luther, 62-53

phoenix,

I would be surprised if the WARHAWKS are not a primary player in the battle for the league championship.  I wouldn't go as far as to say they'll be a "dominate" team as there are others that will also contend and I don't want to put that monkey on their backs.  But I think that the WARHAWKS are going to be right in the thick of it.

In scrimmages they've beaten UW-Parkside by 14, Lake Forest by 35 and the two road wins this weekend were by wide margins.  The pieces are in place however a lot can happen between now and February so we'll just have to see how it plays out.  But I can't help by be encouraged and excited by what has happened thus far.

This may turn out to be the best team we've fielded in many, many years.

Can i ask why, that new freshmen from Eau Claire for one started that game and then only played 2 minutes. There is nothing like getting a players hopes up by starting and then no playing the rest of the game. Did Eugland give up on her that fast or what's going on.

I think the first game was intrasquad--blue-gold game--so everyone got lots of minutes and/or started.
