Didn't UWW play Luther yesterday.

OshDude

Oshkosh travels 1,500 miles to Fort Lauderdale this week to play ... Lakeland (and Mount Union). Brilliant!

Got to love the tournament scheduler's sense of humor.

Anyway, I hope the coaches bought plane tickets for the right date this year (that might be a bit inside).

Too soon, dude. Too soon  ;) :D ;D

Yes, you are correct.  My bad, it was Luther and not Loras.  DUH, I hate it when I do something stupid like that.

I know I'm pushing the envelope of propriety here, but I'm wondering how many posters know of Wisconsin's Jolene Anderson, a near-local athlete in my neck of the woods. Of those who know of her, how many think she has a chance at playing professional basketball? If she can make the leap, can she continue to astound us with her ability to dominate the good  ;D statistics (points, rebounds, steals as opposed to bad  >:( statistics-turnovers and fouls)? I personally thought she would struggle moving from South Shore High School (100 students?) to Madison (40,000?), but she didn't stumble.

She'll be an WNBA draft pick in my opinion.                             z

With 8-0 Coe coming to town I expected the WARHAWKS would have a tougher time of it.  However that wasn't the case as WHITEWATER put a 88-61 licking on the previously undefeated KoHawk.  Coe's only lead was 2-0 on a pair of free throws that were answered with a 10-0 run.   Holding Coe to 29% shooting while shooting 55% themselves and forcing 16 turnovers the WARHAWKS were never seriously challenged and built a 28 point lead, 48-20 by halftime.

Heidi Sontag led all scorers with 23 points including 3 of 3 from beyond the arch.  Tiffany Morton added 12 while Lyndsey Buechner and Kelsey Hendrickson contributed 11 points apiece.  WHITEWATER'S defense was very solid forcing 27 turnovers, 16 of which were steals with many of them happening in Coe's backcourt and leading to easy scores.  Buechner had 8 rebounds to lead the team which had a 40-30 edge including 13 offensively.

Next up is a trip to sunny Irvine, Ca. where the WARHAWKS will meet Wiedner College (Pa) and the #1 ranked Mary Washington University.

P.S.  I have throughly researched this buf and I'm certain that it was Coe we played last night.  I also checked with a friend just to be positive.

Hi Badgerwarhawk - that's Widener University, by the way, located in Chester, PA (just south of Philadelphia), and coached by Alisa DiBonaventura, a 2001 All American player out of Delaware Valley College in Doylestown, PA.  They are known as the Pride.  Sure hope you all have a great tournament!

Interesting holiday tournaments being hosted in California in the next week or so...

So, if things shake out in Irvine, #1 Mary Washington could meet the #5 Warhawks, while UWSP (#15) and UWEC (#22) could match up in San Diego... Good tests for all three teams, as they prep and head into the WIAC season at full speed ahead...

Wow! They are coming from all corners of the country for the opportunity to correct BadgerWarhawk.

This could be an international phenomenom some day.  BW, anything else you've messed up?   ;)

Just followed live stats of the EC game at the Holiday tourney out west:  Not good!

EC loses 65-60 to Gustavus Adolphus.  EC slowly builds up an 8 point lead in the 1st half and goes to the locker room up 6 at the half, despite Burns sitting out the last 7min due to foul trouble.  EC takes an early 8 point lead in the 2nd and then watches Gustavus go on a 15-2 run to take a 5 point lead.  Many, many turnovers by EC during this stretch.  It was anywhere between a 2 and 7 point game the rest of the way.  Free throws late in the 2nd were a problem also.  At one time, I believe EC was 11-12 from the line.  Later on in the game, that stat read 12-18.

Late in the game, I noticed that EC was only 1-6 form 3s.  I then was looking at the boxscore and saw that there was no Rachel M.   Injured??

This loss was a really bad loss for a couple reasons:

1. It was a regional loss

2. If EC had won, they could very well have played a total of 3 regional games this weekend.  These regional games would have been against teams that likely would have really good records by the end of the season.  On top of this, these all count as "road games."  In other words, EC could have boosted its QQIW(for postseason consideration) big time.  Now, unless other upsets occur, EC will probably play 2 meaningless games (out of region) for the rest of the tournament.

BTW, Point plays later on.  They play the host school which is supposed to be pretty good.
