I am looking forward to an exciting tourney, and hopefully Stout will get the opportunity to travel to WW to play for the WIAC Tournament Championship!!!

I'm cool with that.  ;D

Prior to EC's loss to Point and assuming both won out to tie for the championship the #1 seed would have been determined by a coin toss because the two teams were equal in all of the preceding criteria.  However EC's loss throws all that up in the air.  However if WW can beat Point the tie breaker would go to the WARHAWKS if the two teams should end up tied based on a 2-0 record against Point vs EC's 1-1.

But all that is for a later, though rapidly approaching, day and the beating Point in the Quandt thing is a difficult task.

I pray that WW will be in Quandt trying to beat Point.  That means Point will be upstairs in Berg Gym scoring uncontested baskets.   ;)

I pray we show up in the correct gymnasium.

Early scores:

RF rolls UWO 71-55

Sup puts forth a good effort but falls, 55-46, to UWP

shootfromthearc

SP up 27-25 at the half. WW puts up 18 first half free throws. Radio guys not thrilled with the officiating.

shootfromthearc

SP's Nuenfeldt is ejected for a flagrant foul. SP will have to battle without her...didn't catch the details but the radio announcers are doing all but making fun of the officiating at this point...sounds like a scrappy game.

shootfromthearc

Point wins 64-62. WW misses a chance to tie and sounds like she was fouled...story of this game. Shakes things up some more for the WIAC. You gotta hate the loss to UWO if you're Point. Needless to say, home court will likely decide things in the tourny. You gotta hope we get 3 WIAC teams in - heck I keep forgetting Stout, should be four teams in!

Shake things up a bit more...
UWL snaps a 26-game losing streak to Stout in La Crosse today, a 60-57 win over the Blue Devils....
So down the stretch we come, with conference standings as such for the final week:

Whitewater 12-2, 21-1 = at Oshkosh, host River Falls
Eau Claire 12-2, 18-5 = host Platteville, host Stout
Stevens Point 10-4, 19-4 = at La Crosse, at Platteville
Stout 9-5, 15-8 = host River Falls, at Eau Claire
La Crosse 9-6, 14-10 = host Stevens Point, off
Platteville 5-9, 11-12 = at Eau Claire, host Stevens Point
Oshkosh 4-10, 9-14 = host Whitewater, host Superior
River Falls 2-12, 8-15 = at Stout, at Whitewater
Superior 1-14, 4-19 = off, at Oshkosh

I think that's being generous to say Superior put forth a good effort. Superior women include a lopsided number of freshmen, but by this time in the season, they should at least be able to pass the ball. The most promising players spend way too much time on the bench; the point guard can't seem to see the floor; there doesn't seem to be an attempt to hustle anywhere. The lone senior fouled out tonight, and I can only guess it was sweet relief for her to get out of that mess.

Seriously, I think a decent high school team would shred UWS.

The only reason the final score was as close as it was is that Platteville played almost as badly. I'd say they played about nine points better. The most telling part of the quality of play was when the player receiving the inbound pass nearly got hit in the face, because she was looking down the court instead of at the inbounder. This happened to both teams and neither was being pressed at the time. Come on. At least the players should be paying attention.

I don't know why I am cocking off right now because Stout did lose "again" today,  but I will anyway.  keep "forgetting Stout" because I think this Stout team is still going to make someone pay.  Three conference championships and three tournament championships in the last three years, you would think that some of you people would remember that Stout is still in this conference.  Anyone guarding Julia Hirssig in the conference tournament will, I think, remember that Stout still competes.

shootfromthearc said Stout deserved to be in the NCAA Tournament.  Ooooh, such disrespect!  ::)

I know right? I was beat up for picking them fourth at the start of the year.
Me thinks if Stout is going to "make someone pay" yet this season, they will want to avoid the Warhawks.

On another note, it looks like if both EC and WW win out it will come down to a coin flip? With the teams having split winning at home and both losing at Point all the tiebreakers are even until the flip! Quite the important coin flip; no #1 seed has ever lost a conference tournament game  :o

The "disrespect" word is yours, not mine.  I was referring to the "I keep forgetting about Stout" reference.  Was not intended to stir the pot but to make the point that the Stout program has plenty to be proud of lately regardless of what happens this year.  And it is just my opinion that Hirssig and company could still make some noise yet this year.  I thought it was okay to have an opinion about future games on this board.  Sorry I lost my head.

buf

There could be a lot of teams making some noise:

UWRF has come a long way.  Their a dangerous team to play because of their ability to get hot from 3, as EC found out.

UWL has also improved quite a bit as the season has progressed.  The addition of Churchill and the aggressive play by Hunter has them right behind Stout in the standings.

In recent weeks Stout is playing better.  Stout is now getting the ball to their best player more often.

I just don't see Superior, UWP and UWO making much noise in the tournament.  Not that these teams can't win, but I think if I were a top conference team, I wouldn't mind too much seeing them in the first round compared to the other conference teams.

How many teams does everyone think will make the NCAAs from the WIAC?
