St Norbert giving Stout everything they can handle. Hirssig comes up big, though, for a second game. Keep her healthy.

You can say that again about keeping Julia healthy.

Stout is already missing Dani Boese and Trish VanVrede - two of their veteran tall (6'1" and 6'0" respectively) girls to injury.

Looks like DeWitt is picking up most of the work that those two would be getting, and doing a very nice job!

Trisha played. When did she get hurt?

I must be confused... ???  Coach T had told me that someone besides Dani had injury problems a few weeks back.  Either it was someone else, or Trish recuperated much faster than T expected.

Sorry for the confusion.... :-[

Any volleyball fans? I posted on my blog a Nationals Guide similar to the ones I did for the St. Thomas and Oshkosh regionals. Check it out if you're interested in Oshkosh and/or D-III VB.

Go UWO volleyball!  Too bad that neither UWEC or UWL advanced to join UWO at nationals.

Trisha VV has been wearing a boot, but I think she's been playing right along. Practicing a little less energetically, perhaps.

That must be the case.  At the time of the injury, I think T thought she'd be out for for an extended period the last time we talked.

Considering I used to see T in person several times a week (if not daily) - it's sure different when I live over 100 miles away.

Mrs. Champ and I will be heading over for both days of the Stout Tourney the end of the month - it'll be the first time we've seen him since his last dirt race of the year in September...

UWO off to a slow start on the season.  They drop to 0-2 with a loss at home against Ripon, 70-53.

Slow start my arse! I for one have had enough of Schumacher. How long will she get a free pass because she won her first season WITH PAM RUDER'S PLAYERS?!?!?!

Okay, if you didn't feel like cutting and pasting, let me give you the gist: blah, blah, blah, kids fault, blah, blah, blah, kids fault, blah, blah, blah, someting trite about stepping up, blah, blah, blah.

Oshkosh SHOULD NOT be the epitome of mediocrity! Look for them to be lousy the entire tenure of this coach, plus two years.

Buckets out!

I liked the part where she said, "we may not win another game."  Ah, coach, I hate to be the one to point it out but you haven't won one yet let alone going for another.   With Tyriver gone they're really struggling to score points.

The LADY WARHAWKS will finally open their season this Friday in the Ripon College tournament.  We'll play Concordia (Mequon) on Friday and then square off against Ripon on Saturday.

Lets be fair here.  The cupboard was not exactly full when she arrived.  She was blessed with five solid players when she arrived, but not much for a bench.

I can't remember the last time I read an article where a coach ripped on the players so badly.  If she has issues with her players, shouldn't she be keeping them within the team and not voice her opinions to the media?

But then she should've had a down year, maybe two until her recruits matured and were ready to play. Instead, what has happened? Her players the ones that SHE recruits won't stick around to play for her because either they can't hack it or they can't stand to play for her. In either case, she is ruining this once proud program.

I don't have the time nor the ambition to look this up, but doesn't it seem like she has lost a lot of upperclassmen? She rails on her kids for not having the guts to step up (in the paper, mind you!) but yet somehow her recruits dissapear after a season or two. There are a couple of high potential kids that are walking around that campus but have chosen to not stick with the program. Again, either poor recruiting or poor retention. In either case, poor coaching.

Sorry, I will take a few deep breaths and chill out!!!!

I thought UWO may be a bit better this season.  I knew losing Tyriver would be huge.  But I thought that with a bunch of players returning with a year under their belt that they would be better then they are playing now.

Should probably wait until we get deeper than one game in to sink the season.
U of Dubuque, Mark Noll's team, did themselves proud against UW-Milwaukee. They'll be fun to watch.

Krystal Parr, from Bloomer, is playing there with another Bloomer grad. Wasn't Parr the player that was a mystery as to whether she was going to play at River Falls or...someplace else. Being too lazy to look back a through a couple years of posts, I'll rely on other poster's highly reliable memories.

I think this is her fourth year.  That means that she has three recruiting classes in her tenure that are currently playing for her.  It could not have been easy recruiting that first year because I heard that even though they were winning, that program had some underlying issues.  The team is pretty young, but you have to be worried when the team isn't competing.  I don't know what to think about Oshkosh.

I think its fair to say that Terri knows basketball.  She was a great player and was great coaching high school in the six years before becoming the Titans coach.  Hopefully she can turn it around.
