Should probably wait until we get deeper than one game in to sink the season.
U of Dubuque, Mark Noll's team, did themselves proud against UW-Milwaukee. They'll be fun to watch.

I agree, but somebody aughta tell Coach that, too!!!

Vegas has their over-under at three conference wins. I'll take the under!

As for her prestigious coaching career... Let's examine her record prior to the Onson and Tyriver years at West: From 1993-2000 her record at West: 17-113. She was a bit more successfull at Plymouth: 69-44. So, aside from the hooplah surrounding her success at West her last few years (yes, they were good!!!) her coaching record is 86-157. So for the first "half" of her career she had a winning percentage of .35. The second "half" of her career is an astonishing .78.

The argument? That it takes time to build hs programs - right. I understand. But it should (theoretically) take less than that at the collegiate level because of the recruiting process. But so many of her kids quit! Does she go after the mental midgets? Or is she that difficult to play for? EITHER WAY, IT IS KILLING THIS ONCE PROUD PROGRAM!

Sorry, I typed that last part with my fists!

I realize that this is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay early in the season, but look at the standings.... :o :o

WIAC Standings (Through 11/18)

Superior  2-0
Platteville  1-0
River Falls  1-0
Stout  1-1
Eau Claire  0-0
La Crosse   0-0
Stevens Point   0-0
Whitewater  0-0
Oshkosh  0-2

Anybody know when the last time (if ever) that Superior was sitting atop the standings by themselves??? ???

Just Bill

Likely never, but this doesn't really count since we're only talking about non-conference games.  You can't really be leading the conference until you play some conference games.  Especially when 4 teams, including two of the best ones haven't even played yet.

Sounds like Oshkosh is off to a rough start.  Any other information on the team?  I am going to try and head down to the Wartburg Tournament this weekend (if my wife let's me :) ).  I live in Southern MN so it's not a bad drive down to catch two games on Saturday.

Slow start my arse! I for one have had enough of Schumacher. How long will she get a free pass because she won her first season WITH PAM RUDER'S PLAYERS?!?!?!

Read this article:
http://www.thenorthwestern.com/article/20081119/OSH0201/811190563/1148/OSH02

Okay, if you didn't feel like cutting and pasting, let me give you the gist: blah, blah, blah, kids fault, blah, blah, blah, kids fault, blah, blah, blah, someting trite about stepping up, blah, blah, blah.

Oshkosh SHOULD NOT be the epitome of mediocrity! Look for them to be lousy the entire tenure of this coach, plus two years.

Buckets out!

Boy, I read this article and all I could think of is the coaches who have been successful over the years are always quick to blame themselves when things are not going well and slow to blame players (especially in the media).  By the sound of this one, "the epitome of mediocrity" is probably being overly optimistic for this program.  She needs to take a chill pill and then maybe take a quick look in the mirror for some things that need to change.

I understand what you're saying there.

But it's the WIAC that published the "standings" that I copied and pasted here, which must mean the WIAC officials they have some meaing.

I guess the point of my comment was just the simple fact that Superior is 2 - 0.  There have been seasons THIS decade when Superior hasn't won more than 2 games all season (conference or non conference.

Regardless of what the other teams have done, Superior being 2 - 0 is something for them to be happy about.  And from what has been posted here, UWO doesn't seem to be too happy about being 0 - 2, and they shouldn't be.

QuoteBut I thought that with a bunch of players returning with a year under their belt that they would be better then they are playing now.

Krystal Parr, from Bloomer, is playing there with another Bloomer grad. Wasn't Parr the player that was a mystery as to whether she was going to play at River Falls or...someplace else. Being too lazy to look back a through a couple years of posts, I'll rely on other poster's highly reliable memories.

I think Parr did play at River Falls for a season or two.

UWEC wins at Ripon, 64-43.  UWW is also playing there.  I believe they won by about 9, although I can't confirm that

UWP wins down in Texas.

Point wins its tourney over Viterbo.  Britta Peterson goes 9-9 from the floor and earns MVP award.

In the other games yesterday, River Falls downs North Central 84 - 17.... :o and Superior falls to Dubuque 81 - 67.

The Lady WARHAWKS didn't play particularly well in the first half and were tied 34-34 with Ripon at the buzzer but played a little better in the second one and came home with a 75-66 victory.  Tiffany Morton took over in the second half and finished with 18 points and 13 rebounds to record her 15th career double-double and move into second place in the school record book.  Freshman Megan Theune (ex-Whitewater HS Whippet) came off the bench to score 13 points and both Kelsey Hendrickson and Heidi Sontage scored in double figures with 10 points apiece.  Behind Morton the WARHAWKS dominated the boards with a 46-29 edge including 18 offensive rebounds.

We'll finally open the home portion of our season vs. Edgewood tomorrow night.

Interesting Weekend at Ripon:
eau calire over ripon               64-43  (by 21 points)
Whitewater over ripon           75-66   (by 9 points)
eau clair over concordia          69-47  (by 22 points)
Whitwater over concordia      67 59   (by  8 points)
Neither team went deep into the bench.
Whitewaters defense is no longer ferocious. Thier whole game focuses on Morton. Stop Morton/stop whitewater. Do the Warhaks miss Lindsey Buechner. Absolutely. She was the dynamic and glue that made them so good last year.
