D3football.com poll puts R-MC comfortably in front of Trinity. Not much of a surprise I think given how the Championship game went.

Cowboy2

I understand it. Wonder how many of those teams would be as high if the 2pt try was successful.

Glad there is some parity among the country (now). I also wonder how NCC would have done had they not had to go through Belhaven, Trinity, LAX, and Wartburg. That's a tough road to get to Salem.

Welcome back to the Region 3 Fan Poll. We have most of our posters back from last year and I want to welcome Cowboy2 to the poll. Week 1 was a challenge. We had 11 teams show up on ballots for 7 slots. There was a lot of consensus arounds teams 1 and 2, with only 1 vote in the top 2 not going for either R-MC or Berry. Hardin-Simmons and TLU showed up on every ballot, but after that it became a grab bag, with 3 teams appearing on 3 ballots, two on 2 ballots, and 2 on only one ballot.

Interesting Games this Week:

R-MC hosts Hobart (1-0)
Berry hosts DePauw (1-0)
Hardin-Simmons travels to Massachusetts to face Curry (0-1)
Millsaps travels to Virginia to play Bridgewater (0-1)
Trinity(TX) goes to Belhaven in a battle of unexpected 0-1 teams
Centre makes the trek to Maryville

BSCpanthers

I look forward to this every week, just to see if I'm looking at the teams like anyone else.  Week one you get the most separation, by week five most votes come in real close to the same.

Some big changes this week with Hardin-Simmons climbing the rankings and Berry dropping almost off the board after a huge loss. ETBU joins the poll and we scattered votes across 4 other teams.

There are some big games this week, as the SAA and ODAC face off.
Berry travels to R-MC in what was, until this week, one of the pre-season biggest games in Region 3. A big loss by Berry and a tough win by R-MC makes this game compelling for different reasons.

W&L travels to Trinity -- a game that is probably more interesting after week 1 due to Trinity's surprising loss.

Centre travels to H-SC. H-SC's first year coach took a beating from Del Val but rebounded against Brevard, while Centre squeaked out a solid win hosting RV Maryville.

TLU travels to McMurry, which would have been a lot more interesting before Week 1.

Hardin-Simmons and ETBU both get the week off

In the RV category
Millsaps hosts Bridgewater. Millsaps surprising Week 1 win looks less interesting after Belhaven was blown out by Trinity, but Bridgewater has 2 of the most opposite results of the season so far, getting destroyed by Susquehanna and then murdering Southern Virginia 80-0.

UMHB travels to Whitewater. UWW struggled in Texas last year and the loss was probably UMHB's best result in an otherwise subpar season.

Maryville comes off a heartbreaking loss at Centre but should get a break at Southern Virginia.

Averett plays another dud hosting Ferrum. I wonder if we had SoS this early if Averett's schedule so far is one of the easiest in D3, facing perennial lightweights NC Wes and Greensboro. Ferrum only adds to that cupcake list.

Just for fun, here's Logan Hansen's Region 3 Top 10 for the week:

1. HSU (33.8)
2. UMHB (28.3)
3. Trinity (27.1)
4. RMC (26.7)
5. Berry (26.4)
6. ETBU (23.1)
7. Bridgewater (14.6)
8. W&L (14.3)
9. Centre (13.5)
10. TLU (12.6)

I think this week was harder to rank than last week. We will learn some things this weekend, but it may take a few weeks to really start getting some clear answers.

I like to disclose my picks, I'm the Averett pick.  I had 3 schools(I think) I could have put there, and just more or less threw a dart at the wall.  I didn't feel Berry deserved to stay this week with a 33-0 beat down at home.  We'll find out this weekend who is the class of Region 3.  I guess that is one good thing out of BSC closing, we got the ODAC/SAA challenge.

BSCpanthers

Polls this week are going to be very interesting to say the least. I can't wait to see what it looks like.

Hawks88

Yep. We have a big mass of teams at 2-1 and the McMurry win makes an interesting string. Trinity lost to TLU who lost to McMurry who lost to Southwestern who lost to Hendrix whose loss is to 2-0 ETBU. Out of the other wins in the string it looks like Trinity's win over W&L is likely the best even though W&L is only 1-2 and the win is Apprentice and the other loss is what looks like a very good Salisbury. Should be fun trying to hash this out. lol

Region 3 (South Atlantic-Ish) Fan Poll Week 3
Conferences: ASC, ODAC, SAA, SCAC, USASAC

Last week was definitely a shocker. UMHB with a huge win, Berry with a huge win, H-SC with a huge win, all over national or fan poll ranked opponents.

R-MC plummets and Berry climbs on the result in Ashland, UMHB skyrockets on a huge win at UWW, H-SC knocks out at home Centre, TLU falls out after being stomped by a possibly rebounding McMurry.

Guilford replaces Averett for joke vote of the week.

Trinity, Berry, UMHB, R-MC, H-SC are all off this week, leaving Hardin-Simmons' non-D3 game against North American as the only team in the top 7 in action.

Shenandoah plays Juniata, TLU will try and find their footing against Lyon, while Guilford and W&L are off.

Not much to look forward to this week, but the silly-season (non-conference) is about to come to an end for most teams and it will be time to battle for the AQ. With so many upsets already this season, Pool C could be hard to come by in Region 3, making conference games all the more important.

It's nice to see my Tigers getting some votes, and I definitely appreciate the vote of confidence, but I have to say that (to me at least) the 7 is a lot more realistic than the 2.

I think 2 is out of line also. The win over Centre is nice, given Centre's win over Maryville, but the loss to Del Val, at home, was pretty heavy. Del Val is a good team, but when you have other teams with wins over UWW and R-MC, it's hard to put H-SC at 2. I'm the 7 on H-SC, and I think the 10/12 game in Lexington will be a big one for both teams.

W&L has no good wins, and 2 losses to good teams. Salisbury dominated Muhlenberg and JHU, while Trinity has a weird loss and, frankly, should have run W&L off the field in the first half but W&L still hung in there to have a shot to pull off a long road trip win. Didn't happen, but those are good losses.

I think the ODAC is a true 5 team race this year. R-MC doesn't seem up to recent standards, H-SC is much improved, W&L seems typical if they can stave off injuries, and Bridgewater and Shenandoah both look competent. I don't think much of Ferrum, Averett or Guilford, but the rest of the ODAC is just going to be very difficult. I'd be surprised if anyone runs the ODAC table this year. Given Shenandoah is the only team of those 5 without a loss, I suspect the ODAC champ is going to be at least a 2 loss team.

BSCpanthers

So many changes and variables this past weekend.  I didn't feel like Trinity's win this past weekend was enough to get them back into the poll this week.  UMHB's win was very impressive, but need to see them back it up to move them higher.  This season over previous seasons feels wide open for conference championships.  Not much will be answered this coming weekend, so it'll be two weeks before we probably see more major movement.

In a week full of Byes not much changes. W&L loses out on their one vote in favor of Hendrix. A minor shuffling of the vote counts, but no changes in position.

This week's games that match opponents in the polls is highlighted by:
ETBU at UMHB 2 vs 4 in the polls.

We also get a very interesting cross-region game:
Hardin Simmons hosts 4-0 Endicot in a game where H-SU has to be thinking about how ugly last year turned out

And the 4 ODAC teams that are in the poll or receiving votes square off
Guilford at H-SC  -- Guilford's first game against an opponent that, traditionally, should know what a football field looks like and how to win on one.
R-MC at Shenandoah -- potentially a very interesting matchup of teams with big aspirations. Shenandoah is the last of the undefeated ODAC teams expected to compete for the title, though their schedule is only mildly better than Guilford's in my opinion.

TLU05SA

So...McMurry doesn't get any love whatsoever and we are just ignoring the TLU-Trinity game? Seems odd.
