I am dropping B'water and adding Trinity.

Other than Berry, not too much movement. Trinity and TLU both re-enter, ETBU and Bridgewater drop out. McMurry falls off the scope.

This week:
Hardin-Simmons hosts struggling Howard Payne
R-MC travels to Lexington to face W&L, pitting the last of the ODAC conference unbeatens
Centre makes the long trip to a wounded Berry in a matchup of poll participants
UMHB travels to ETBU in a second game involving teams in the voter's lists
Trinity goes to a Hendrix team that has lost 4 straight
TLU hosts hapless Lyon
Maryville makes a long trip to surprisingly mediocre Belhaven

TLU05SA

Really, Trinity above TLU? Are your memories that short? September 7, at Trinity, TLU dominated?

TLU05SA

My comment above is limited to the two voters that ranked Trinity but not TLU. I am very curious what the reasoning is.

BSCpanthers

I have TLU at 4th, two spots ahead of Trinity.  Not sure why TLU is getting snubbed by others.

crufootball

It's going to be really fun if Berry beats Centre this weekend.

I think that TUTx has progressed farther this season than TLU. IMHO, TLU surprised a young Trinity team in week #1.

Someone has Maryville at 5 and ETBU at 7. The other person has ETBU at 5 instead of TLU on the ballot.

TLU Media guide says Trinity is 19-13 vs TLU since the 1st meeting in 1965.

I want to see how Trinity does for the rest of the season. I believe they have a tougher schedule than TLU. I want to see the quality of TUTx's W&L win. By the end of the season, we will know. In fact, there might be a Week #12 Rematch in the 1st round of the playoffs.

Ha! Historical matchups, surprises and ignoring the head to head! It is Halloween and I will take this as a trick. :D

BSCpanthers

I have Maryville at 5th, but do not have ETBU ranked.  I think the only team that has no argument in their ranking is Hardin-Simmons. Everyone else can be argued to be out at just about any spot.

Game of the weeK
Hardin-Simmons at UMHB. UMHB needs this one. I'm struggling to see how a team that goes 5-2 in D3 gets a bid, but I guess it's possible in an NPI world. They need that UWW win to hold up. Hardin-Simmons definitely has the most difficult close to the season. At UMHB and then at ETBU. Winning out should leave them well-prepared for the playoffs.

R-MC has beat the 3 biggest contenders for the ODAC, they host Ferrum before traveling to H-SC for The Game. This week should be a snooze.

Berry, Trinity and Centre have finished their round robin at 4-1 each so far in conference, that should be interesting. These teams should have no problem with the remaining schedule, though Rhodes has a chance of playing spoiler I guess for 2 of them.

TLU goes to Centenary this weekend. This shouldn't be a problem, but it's a more likely stumble than a fading Southwestern at home.

Maryville should have no trouble finishing off teams that are 4-12 combined. Brevard and LaGrange are both one game behind in conference, with M'Ville holding the h2h over LaGrange but the Brevard game is listed as postponed thanks to Hurricane Helene. It would be interesting to see what would happen if M'Ville slipped up, but I just don't see it happening against hapless Greensboro or NC Wes.

ETBU has struggling Howard Payne before hosting Hardin-Simmons. The last game is definitely a chance to play spoiler, but it would require reversing a 16 point loss earlier in the season.

It would be nice if the Brevard-Maryville game could be played but there isn't a good way to make it happen. Swapping opponents week 11 would have Brevard at Maryville but someone would also have to convince NC Wesleyan to make a trip to Kentucky Christian(Brevard's scheduled week 11 opponent). If that were to happen and Brevard were to beat Maryville then you could still have a mess if Lagrange wins out. At that point you would have Lagrange and Brevard at 7-1 in conference but Maryville would only be 6-1 as they still wouldn't have played NC Wesleyan. Since that wouldn't actually be a three way tie then Lagrange would get the AQ by having the head-to-head over Brevard. The only way to get all three to 8 conference games would be to send Brevard to play Maryville on something like Tuesday. I can't imagine that really being an option though.

Never mind. It looks like NC Wesleyan and Belhaven made this post moot and cleaned up any potential messes. Congrats, Maryville.

For the third week in a row we have the same teams in the poll, even if slightly different orders. Hard for new teams to breakthrough right now. Maryville is the only other RV, and they are picking up 2 votes from UMHB and one from TLU.

Hardin-Simmons closes out travelling to ETBU. Short of this being a trap game, I just don't see how the Cowboys lose. ETBU is clearly the third best team in the ASC, they've feasted on weaker teams, but this will be their 4th shot at either HSU or UMHB and they have yet to be within 13 points in the previous 3 attempts.

R-MC travels to H-SC in The Game. Rivalries can be intense and unpredictable, but H-SC hasn't won since 2013 and I don't think this will be their year.

Berry makes a long trip to a Rhodes team that hasn't held up. Wins against the bottom of the SAA don't make me confident they can spoil Berry's season.

TLU hosts a Southwestern team whose only notable win was Week 1 against McMurry.

Trinity goes to Millsaps, who needs a win to stay above .500 for the season. I don't think it will happen.

UMHB hosts ASC bottom feeder Howard Payne in what should be a no contest as the Crusaders try and keep their bubble playoff hopes alive. Hard to imagine 37th in NPI is going to get it done when all the conference AQs are taken into consideration. Also hard to imagine beating HPU again is going to help much.

Centre hosts SAA bottom feeder Sewanee. Every year there is hope for Sewanee, every year it seems the same old, same old.

Maryville hosts NC Wes. NC Wes is coming in riding a hot streak of 3 straight wins. Last week's win over Brevard, at home, was good for the Bishops, but I just don't see them winning here unless MVille, with the conference sewn up, looks to the playoffs early.

jknezek

Sorry guys. Been a busy week. Last regular season poll. We may do one after the playoffs. Kind of depends how it goes. Most years it's pretty obvious how it will end up and I don't bother, but we have a fair number of playoff participants this year. Might be more interesting.
