With so many regional matchups we surely need to keep the poll going this season.  For poll reason, the Trinity/UMHB game is the most intriguing. But the first round of the playoffs could completely flip the Region 3 poll as we get games we've been wanting to see all season.

We will see. It's hard to get people back together after a few weeks.

I am in for a post-season/final poll.

Look at that!  We have 4 Pool A bids and 4 (FOUR) Pool C teams!  33% of the Pool C bids came to our region.

Cowboy2

R3 did well. 20% of the bracket are our teams. In a perfect world it would have been nice if they could have done a real 1-40 bracket $eeding to see how the teams match up amongst out of regions teams. I do like the NPI this year because it worked well for R3. The old system would surely have only sent the 4  Pool A teams to the dance.

I'm up for keeping the fan vote going as well.

I was busy with coaching a youth tackle team which took a ton of my free time but I have watched from a far this season.  It was a pretty good showing for Region 3 in the playoffs this season.  I would have struggled sorting out the 8 teams that made up the last pole.  There was so much crossover and data points.  I believe I would have put HSU first but I think there are reasonable arguments for and against Randy Mac, TLU, Maryville, Centre, Berry, UMHB, and Trinity being voted 2-7 with that one odd man out.  If chalk holds then only HSU survives tomorrow but I'll bet there is an upset or two.  Thanks guys for doing the pole

Obviously we have a couple of rounds to go but anxious to see what you guys make of a final poll if it happens.

I put out the call for ballots yesterday. Only 1 back so far.

Thanks jknezek

Mine is in!

Thanks for running the poll this year.

Final poll of the year is posted. UMHB with the big leap up. Maryville joins the poll, and we had a tie for 7th which played havoc with my code to generate all the information. Still a little unsure why it doesn't show TLU's -3 drop, but I'm tired of playing with it. Anyway, thanks to all the pollsters for another season!

Managed to edit it for you. That's a lot of table cells!

As an aside, and because I wanted this information about how I think about the poll to stand alone from the results, I'm putting this in a different post.

For me, the poll is about the best teams in the week we did it. I'm not rewarding the whole season, I'm thinking about the best teams at that point in time. So I have UMHB above Hardin-Simmons because they won the final game. If I was thinking about the best team throughout the season, I'd have Hardin-Simmons on top, because they won 2/3 and only lost the last by a hair. But that's the same reasoning I use to not hold Trinity's loss to TLU or R-MC's to Berry as the deciding factor for a whole season.

Other pollsters may have different logic, but that's how I think about my own poll each week.

Thank Pat. Yeah, I could have edited it by hand, but that's why I wrote a program to generate the bulletin board code for me to just cut and paste in one lump. 99% of the time it works. But apparently a tie in the last spot is an issue as the program is told there are only 7 teams in the poll, and all of a sudden there are 8.

I started out editing D3hoops and D3football by hand, so I'm happy to dive into code. :)

Well all this code is in Excel VBA. I put the ballots into an excel spreadsheet, push a button I coded, and it generates everything you see on that post. Then I just cut and paste from the excel output page right into a new post blank and hit preview to make sure it worked.

It's been handy, especially when I was doing the soccer fan poll as that was much larger. But this is still a huge time saver and it makes sure that everything lines up!
