Just had a good laugh reading the in-game thread. Some of the guys on here ought to be embarrassed and ashamed. 90% negative posts (at least). Calling for people being fired. Calling the Johnnies "terrific". No offense, Johnnie fans, this is an internal issue.  You do realize we out-gained them, right?  With all that crap you post and not one of you congratulates the team on punching their ticket to the Stagg Bowl?  I wanted to post "You suck", but I really think three of you are mentally ill. And I know mental illness is a really tough fight. So, I won't say "You suck". Too bad you have to "endure" a 15th week of "inconsistent" football.  UMHB, Mount Union, St. John's, Wheaton, Muhlenberg, and about 250 other teams are done for the season. And, much to your chagrin, we are still standing. Thank God you have no influence in the program and never will.

Well, I suppose we had that coming  ;D

As far as offering congratulations on here, I guess I don't really see the point of it. On social media I congratulated a few, so I know it will be seen by those that matter. If I ever see a player or coach in person I'll offer congrats. But doing it on a fan-based message board, I don't really see the  point. Am I congratulating other UWW fans who had no part in the outcome???? I don't get it.

Well, you kinda had it coming.  ;)

With the dearth of D-III news and discussion on the sports landscape as a whole, if you assume no players or coaches read your comments you are wrong. So congratulate the players and coaches. Here's a thought:

"Way to go Hawks! Back in the Stagg Bowl! Congrats on an awesome accomplishment."

Every fan has a right to whine and complain, even when they are wrong.  ;D   But it is just common decency to give credit where credit is due, especially when it's the team you supposedly support.

Saturday's game was epic with two great programs AND teams battling down to the wire. It was as exciting of a game as I've been to in a long, long time.  And in reading through the thread, it appears you guys were so caught up in nit-picking that you missed it.

And as long as I'm on a roll, two more things... ;)

1. When you say we are "inconsistent", that truly downplays the fact that there is a really good team on the other sidelines.        I'd imagine a lot of teams were "inconsistent" against the Johnnies this year.

2. When you say this win wasn't as impressive as last week's win, that also denigrates St. John's and doesn't consider the importance of match ups.  In some ways, beating an excellent team with a once in a generation type QB may have been just as impressive, but in a different way than last week. Just my 2 cents...

I'd have to disagree with your second point... just because one win is more or less impressive than another doesn't mean they weren't both impressive wins. Beating SJU In dramatic fashion is no doubt impressive but Wheaton almost did that last week, and  however absolutely dominating the defending national champs at home who were trying to reach a 4th straight Stagg Bowl is definitely more impressive.

SJU lost this year already, UMHB hadn't been beaten since 2017

That's a valid point of view for sure. Especially the way you worded it and explained it. Thanks

I suppose these comments come off as ridiculous after the game, knowing that we already won. But during the game, when the outcome is far from determined, some comments were fair. Calling trick plays on the goal line, which didn't work, is what we questioned the most. That was when Emma was calling for the OC's resignation. I didn't exactly agree with that course of action, but he had his right to his opinion.

Like I said before, I selected social media as my platform to congratulate the team (which I already did). I think that's more direct than doing it here, not knowing who's reading.

Glad to hear you did offer congratulations.  That's great. And yes, everyone has a right to their opinion. He didn't call for the "OC's resignation", he called for Peter Jennings (a real human being, not just a job title) to be fired. That becomes personal to me's . You know darn well Coach Jennings can't/won't come on here and defend himself. And he (and everyone) obviously has a right to post whatever he wants.  But I consider Coach Jennings a friend and I have a hard time not responding to posts that are that harsh. Especially since he can't and wont.

For all that read the in-game complaints (and other posts) complaining about Coach Jennings, I'd like to provide some context:

He has been the offensive coordinator at UW-W for 28 games.  The Hawks are 26-2 in those games. We advanced to the semi-finals last year and the Stagg Bowl this year.  He will be here as long as he wants. I know He loves UW-W and his family loves Whitewater. Maybe he will be one of those 20 year assistant coaches. Or maybe he will be the next UW-W head coach years from now. However it shakes out, we are blessed to have him!

I'm sure Coach Jennings is an awesome guy and he may have Bullis' support for a lifetime gig at UWW.
The in-game updates board is used in-game, when emotion is at its peak. Not only is emotion at its peak, there is a timing issue-meaning, if I want to post a thought, I have to try and do it between plays so as not to miss a single moment. This sometimes results in less than thoughtful posts.

I'd love Jennings to stay at UWW for as long as he wants, as long as he's doing what's absolutely best for the program. Maybe his offensive style is best for the program now, I may just be wrong. I've said this many times, but I'll say it again. I was there in the public meeting when Coach Bullis was still interviewing for the head coaching job. When talking about the OC he would hire, he was asked specifically if UWW would continue the same style of offense, and he said they would.
This is not the same style of offense. As one example only, UWW doesn't run two trick plays inside the 10 in such a critical situation, with such a potent offense waiting to get back on the field. The problem is, since this is an in-game board, there were a number of times that long time UWW fans (accustomed to seeing UWW doing things in a certain way, including last week's tremendous plan vs. UMHB), were justified in questioning him.

I should have bit my tongue (or tied my fingers) and not called for his firing. I said it during very emotional moments when I thought his style was going to cost the players that have worked so hard, their chance to advance.

Saturday's in-game updates board was a hoot. Hoping to see more UWW passing/reverses to get the home crowd riled up once they got a few old-fashioneds in em on a Friday night! I expect nothing less than calls for abolition of the program if anything other than dives and/or bellies get called in the red zone.

If any coaches/players/staff actually read this board, congratulations! That game was a dandy.

Totally looking forward to this board turning into The Score Radio after a Bears loss once the Warhawks throw a pass
