Damn, what a game.  Good work, Warhawks.  Do the same to NCC.

Did one of those announcers just say that "neither team had reached a Stagg Bowl"?

Yeah, they were saying ignorant stuff every time they opened their mouths.

Wish I could go back and play it back, but weren't they talking about the head coaches of each team and the reference was that neither team had been to a Stagg Bowl with their current head coach? I'm pretty sure they knew that both teams have been to the Stagg Bowl multiple times.

Replay is available on ESPN. Just reviewed the last few minutes and they talked about the championships for each team under Gags and Leipold. At about the 3 minute mark, they did refer to the Johnnies as the Tommies though

Just had a good laugh reading the in-game thread. Some of the guys on here ought to be embarrassed and ashamed. 90% negative posts (at least). Calling for people being fired. Calling the Johnnies "terrific". No offense, Johnnie fans, this is an internal issue.  You do realize we out-gained them, right?  With all that crap you post and not one of you congratulates the team on punching their ticket to the Stagg Bowl?  I wanted to post "You suck", but I really think three of you are mentally ill. And I know mental illness is a really tough fight. So, I won't say "You suck". Too bad you have to "endure" a 15th week of "inconsistent" football.  UMHB, Mount Union, St. John's, Wheaton, Muhlenberg, and about 250 other teams are done for the season. And, much to your chagrin, we are still standing. Thank God you have no influence in the program and never will.

Bleed. I know you'd like to set the rules of fandom, but you don't.

You bleed purple for the program and that's awesome.
Speaking only for myself, I bleed purple for the players. The victory was outstanding and Coach Jennings deserves credit for calling an offensive game that put more points on the board than SJU.
That's probably all that matters to most people.
I happen to see it differently and I'll leave it at that.

Yes, the announcer did say neither team had reached a Stagg Bowl toward the end of the game, but the context was in reference to neither team having any players with any experience in a Stagg Bowl, not that neither team had ever been to a Stagg Bowl. In the pregame they stated that there weren't any players on either team that had been to a title game.

Well, I suppose we had that coming  ;D

As far as offering congratulations on here, I guess I don't really see the point of it. On social media I congratulated a few, so I know it will be seen by those that matter. If I ever see a player or coach in person I'll offer congrats. But doing it on a fan-based message board, I don't really see the  point. Am I congratulating other UWW fans who had no part in the outcome???? I don't get it.

Well, you kinda had it coming.  ;)

With the dearth of D-III news and discussion on the sports landscape as a whole, if you assume no players or coaches read your comments you are wrong. So congratulate the players and coaches. Here's a thought:

"Way to go Hawks! Back in the Stagg Bowl! Congrats on an awesome accomplishment."

Every fan has a right to whine and complain, even when they are wrong.  ;D   But it is just common decency to give credit where credit is due, especially when it's the team you supposedly support.

Saturday's game was epic with two great programs AND teams battling down to the wire. It was as exciting of a game as I've been to in a long, long time.  And in reading through the thread, it appears you guys were so caught up in nit-picking that you missed it.

And as long as I'm on a roll, two more things... ;)

1. When you say we are "inconsistent", that truly downplays the fact that there is a really good team on the other sidelines.        I'd imagine a lot of teams were "inconsistent" against the Johnnies this year.

2. When you say this win wasn't as impressive as last week's win, that also denigrates St. John's and doesn't consider the importance of match ups.  In some ways, beating an excellent team with a once in a generation type QB may have been just as impressive, but in a different way than last week. Just my 2 cents...

D O.C.

Perhaps cease eating your own and send all that brainpower to Shenandoah for the TEAM.

1.  Embarrassed and ashamed for writing about the good, the bad, the ugly - NEVER
2.  Calling the Johnnies (or any opponent) "terrific?" NEVER
3.  As someone who puts his money and time to help care for wounded warriors with PTSD, you're preaching to the choir about mental illness, my friend.
4.  A "15th week of inconsistent" football? Don't misrepresent what I'm saying. It's gone on far longer than that!!
5.  Have no influence in the program? That one is debatable. The week after making the observation in a PM that WW doesn't throw to the TE anymore, run screens to RB's, or run pre-snap motion & really hadn't for a period of time extending beyond this current season - what did we see the following week? All three. I know very well coaches tune into this nonsense. That's why I post about the indefensible like an OC calling for a passing play that is as idiotic today as it was yesterday. It was a potentially season ending dagger inflicted by a horrible play call - indefensible. Had the Johnnies OC did the same, I would have commented on it just the same.  I guess you agreed with the call - no one saw that coming.
6.  Not congratulating the team for punching their ticket to the finals? Seriously, lack of any acknowledgement of the accomplishment concerns you enough to haul us off to the whipping post? In your own words, we have no influence on the program and never will so why would it matter if we congratulated anyone associated with the program? But if it makes your happy, I'll be a bit more complementary even if no one sees it in the future.
