First of all, a Standing "O" as in H*O*P*E to Civic Minded for being tagged as the Grand Champion of the 2014 MIAA Pick-Em Contest!!!  Congratulations!!  I am VERY happy for you!! 

And another +K to SAC for that fine commentary on this years Pick-em Contest Champion and relationship to the Commisioner. If I had only known that it was only Candy that was needed to win!!!!  (note to self for next year!!)

Having known for the some time of the illicit relationship, and the commissioner's obvious conflict of interest, I had briefly considered raising a stink but chose otherwise. The fact that I finished dead in the middle for this season's pick'em contest (14th out of 28 participants) and really had nothing to gain if I brought it to public light, played absolutely no role in my decision making. Being the chivalrous kind, I simply didn't want to expose CM to public disgrace. (As for FDF, well he's another matter--so please refer to goodknight's advice on who to blame). But now that everything is in the public domain with sac suggesting the possibility of a special prosecutor--and being entirely neutral about the scandel--I suppose I might consider an appointment to handle the independent investigation.

I have written multiple replies to these baseless accusations, and had each one of them reviewed by council.  Ultimately I found myself being forced to plead the 5th under the direction of my attourney. That's no fun, so I have fired that miserable weasel and now find myself forced to open a 5th just to help me deal with the shame of all this public (albeit totally false) humiliation.

While I am grateful to have been a more fortunate picker than the rest this time around, the follow-up posts are worth more than the million dollar prize.  Priceless.  (Hey, when do I get the million dollar prize?  What, no prize?  Now I need an attorney!)

With apologies for this being so "late", it's 3 days until the start of league play, so here are the rules for the 2015 version of the MIAA Pick 'Em contest.  No change in the rules from the last few years, and everyone is welcome.

- Prior to the beginning of the first game on any given day, pick the winner of each game.  You must also indicate confidence points 1 through 4 (and you must use each confidence number once for each game day).  If you picked the winning team, you will be awarded the number of confidence points you put on that game (See example below).

- Any late picks will be counted as incorrect, and no points will be awarded.

- I will post a weekly update on the standings. 

- The ultimate winner to be decided by point total.  Any ties in point total will be broken by pick percentage.  If a tie still exists, the commissioner automatically wins- just kidding.

- Any disputes may be taken up with the commissioner (that's me) and I will make a final and fair ruling (I promise).


Pick Em example:

Let's say I used the picks below (the team I picked to win is bolded) and the number is my confidence points:

Team A vs Team B - 2
Team C vs Team D - 4
Team E vs Team F - 3
Team G vs Team H - 1

If the winning teams are B, D, F, and H, I would have gone 3-1 and have accrued 7 points.
