:D  MIAA Pick 'Em Trivia—Week #7 Edition (Ending 21-Feb-2009), or, Analyzing the Analysts   :D

Greetings once again, Pick'Em pickers.  You've seen the leader board posted by Commissioner FDF.  Here once again is "the rest of the story".  Another upside-down picking week to wrap up the conference schedule, with upsets on both days.

CPOTW—Co-Pickers of the Week:  Props to arena and cmlundy for being the best of Week #7 at 15 points and 6 wins, against a field earning a rather mediocre GPA of 57.7% for the week.  Nice job, arena and cmlundy!   8)  Four pickers, just one point back at 14 point-6 wins, included calalum, hope1, Hopester, and KnightSlappy.  Good work, guys.  Four more pickers, just one win behind at 14 points-5 wins, included CivicMinded, gohope, Happy Calvin Guy, and realist.  An unusual total of 20 pickers, including yours truly RR, had 5 or less wins for the week.   :P

League Champ and MVP (Most Valuable Picker):  Congrats to Happy Calvin Guy, who picked well enough to hold onto the lead for a sixth straight week, and finish alone on top with 111 points and 41 wins.  Way to go, HCG!   8)  Calalum finishes in 2nd place with 105 points-39wins, and BogeyMan finishes in 3rd place with 105 points-38 wins.  Nice job, guys.

Attendance:  Several pickers "missing in action".  Total pickers picking this week was 26 on Wednesday and again on Saturday.

GPA (Group Pick Average) and GCPA (Group Confidence Point Average):
Wed. Feb. 18:  Split mostly by the Trine-over-Kalamazoo mild upset, and a handful of other bad guesses, 26 contestants got 77/104 wins correct for a barely respectable 74.0% GPA, and 216/260 points assigned correctly for a satisfactory 83.1% GCPA.

Sat. Feb. 21:  With every one of us stunned by Alma-over-Albion, all but two of us equally stunned by Kalamazoo-over-Calvin (only calvin66 and gohope called this one), and further hampered by a handful of gamblers guessing wrong on the Olivet-over-Adrian decision, 26 active contestants got 43/104 wins correct for, are you ready for this, fan-fare please . . .
. . . the worst single-day performance in Pick'Em Trivia history with a 41.3% GPA for the day,  :o  resulting in 57.7% for the week, and putting an exclamation point on an all-time Pick-Em Trivia low of 64.9% for the season, and 114/260 points assigned correctly for a 43.8% GCPA for the day, 63.5% for the week, and 69.8% for the season.  It's almost as if the whole class went out and partied the night before the final exam.   :o   ???   ::)

GMFPI (Games Most Frequently Picked Incorrectly) and PMFAI (Points Most Frequently Assigned Incorrectly):
Wed. Feb. 18:
Trine over Kalamazoo, this mild upset was missed by 16 pickers.  28 points assigned incorrectly to Kalamazoo.  Congrats to the Thunder.

Sat. Feb. 21:
Alma over Albion, missed by all 26 of us.  63 points assigned incorrectly to Albion.  Upset of the day and week on this page.  Props to the Scots.  Scot pride runneth deep.
Kalamazoo over Calvin, missed by 24 Knight (band-wagon) riders who assigned 71 points incorrectly to Calvin.  Congrats to the Hornets.

Purely my opinion:

Congratulations to the 2009 MIAA Champion Calvin Knights for an outstanding season.

Thanks to all the pickers who stuck with it for the season.  This board was once again a lot of fun for this picker, and it added interest to the season.  I've enjoyed the friendly competition along the way, even though I lost ground to some of the career Pick'Em points leaders.  Thanks to our lovable host and commissioner, Flying Dutch Fan, for going to all the trouble of running this board.  And thanks also to d3hoops guru Pat and staff for making this board available to us.  Now bring on tournament time!  Good luck and safe travels to all!

Other comments, observations, and conclusions are always welcome.

Tribes of primitve hunters, with rhinestone codpieces rampant, should build pyramids of Chevy engines covered in butterscotch syrup to exalt the diastolic, ineffable, scintillated and cacophonous salamander of truth which slimes and distracts from each and every orifice of your holy refrigerator.
