MIAA PICK'EM CONTEST MIRED IN CONTROVERSY
Feb. 23, 2014
Holland, MI.

Controversy erupted today at the headquarters of FDF, Inc. when a group of disgruntled gambling enthusiasts protested the results of this years MIAA pick'em contest when it was revealed the champion known only as CivicMinded may have had an inappropriate relationship with the commissioner.  "She's been sleeping with him" quoted an anonymous source.  "They told me right to my face, it was disgusting, too much information, I was so shocked I started yelling soccer references at basketball players".

"It raises a lot of questions about the results, none of us get to see this spreadsheet with the results, it would be very easy to slip a point or two in there."

"It must be the shorts" stated the anonymous source.

A regular contest supporter by the named GoHope was quoted "the possibility of sleeping with the commissioner never occurred to me, had I known that I might have tried harder, like Calvin.  Would you like some candy?"

The controversy has raised questions about future participation as well.  Hoopdreams was quoted as saying  "I have it from a good source no one from Hudsonville will ever participate in this contest again.  A lot of bridges have been burned, past contest participants are not happy with FDF being in charge."   When asked to site those sources his reply was "I know basketball pick'em contests if you want to know message me and I'll tell you everything".

Another participant, Knightslappy, stated "you expect some regression to the mean, but in this case its hard to tell if the multipliers are being used correctly, standard deviations suggest something isn't right the results seems outside the expected result."

A realist described the loss of faith in the commissioners leadership this way "he didn't have us ready to pick.  As a commissioner you have to have your pickers ready to pick.  How he handled the postponed games was very predictable.  Other commissioners have their pickers ready and try something new when the same old thing doesn't.  We have a lot of talented pickers and we should be better at picking"

As recourse many in the pick'em community are demanding an independent investigator to look into possible wrong doing, one worried pick'er, Wiz, said about the possibility of an independent investigator "I just hope we don't get the bald one."

Some in the picking community just hope the controversy dies but as others have pointed out, nothing ever really dies with this group.
