Predictions for tonight:

BV routs Martin Luther by 15 would be more but coach Berry has opportunity to play deep bench.

Loras beats Augustana a close game but Loras pulls away at end to win by 12.

Remember you heard it here first.

Good luck Duhawks and Beavers.

I talked to several people over the weekend that read this but haven't  sign up.  I would like to encourage you to sign up and then post up people!

Old timers its time to start chattering.  Us JV players are looking to move up.

Made a JV mistake and posted this first in wrong area me bad.

Auggie's womens b-ball team is not very good at all...should be a cake walk for Loras.
I also wouldn't be to worried about ML giving BV much of a game at all...both easy wins for the IIAC

Augie has 4 starters that are capable of scoring double figures and a Freshman post that adds alot of rebounds.  I have a son that goes to school there.  I might bop down and watch the game.

Is gambling illegal on posting up?  Maybe we could put a Mabe's Pizza on it.  Naw better not.  Go Norse

I wouldn't put them at the IIAC level of competition...but it is early and Loras lost a lot from last year...so we will have to see. Norse head out to Nebraska Wesleyan this weekend for a tourny...lot of question marks on this years Norse team

The Loras/Auggie game didn't quite go like I predicted.  As predicted it was close with Loras pulling away at the end.  But I didn't expect the overtime.

BV fans what happened that was a close game all the way with Martin Luther leading most of the game.

Norse fans going to Nebraska Wesleyan forget the malls.  Lincoln has a neat shopping/restaurant/entertainment area called Haymarket and the view from the top of the Capitol Bldg. is neat.  I dragged my wife and sister kicking and screaming (thats a lie they got tired of me complaining about the mall) to the Haymarket area where we had a good time.

The Loras/Augie game was a good one. Definitely no "cake walk." This isn't the same Augie team as in the past. They've got a crop of young players who are doing a fine job. Look for them to grow and make a mark.

Loras played well, but I will say that they are going to need more of a post game than they have. Bava is solid, but you can't replace a player like Pucci. When Meyer plays against more experienced post players it's going to get tougher for her. The Hudson kid is a nice player. She'll be able to fill some of that void left by Pucci. While they may not have any seniors, they are fortunate to have some junior leadership.

Good luck to all teams this weekend!

Surprisingly close games last night, its early in the year and teams are still finding their identity I suppose.

LC should get a chance to look at Simpson with both teams being at the NW tourney...but won't play each other from what I understand...Luther plays NW and Carthage college...not expecting much out of this Norse team early on..may take some time to gel together...lots of inexperience will be on the court and not much size...we will have to wait and see

Sixteen games in two days for the IIAC.  To many to list in the short time I have today.  But, it appears Central, Coe, and Cornell have the toughest schedules.

If your at a game let us know how it went (I'm still waiting for BV to tell what happened with ML maybe the internet doesn't go there yet.)

Good Luck to all!

Knight's go 2-0 for the weekend

" Sophomore guard Samantha Harrington of Nashua, concluding a Most Valuable Player weekend, hit five of six free throw tries in the final 17 seconds to help Wartburg escape UW-Oshkosh 70-65 Sunday, Nov. 23, in the championship game of the 2008 Heartland Inn Tipoff Tournament.

Harrington ended the title tilt with 20 points, equaling her 20-point outing in the first round win over Benedictine University of Illinois. Wartburg, moving to 2-1 on the season, got out of the gate quick, scoring the first six points and eventually increased the margin to 18 late in the first half."
Aaron Kampman on Coach Ed Thomas
I believe his greatest legacy comes not in how many football games he won or lost but in the fact that he was a committed follower of Jesus Christ.

Nice road win for Coe tonight over UW-Platteville. Looks like Sarah Anciaux finally got in the groove. I'm anxious to see them in person.
4 IIAC football championships
8 NCAA football playoff appearances
13 straight wins over Cornell in the oldest football rivalry west of the Mississippi

IIAC Season opens up this week.  Coe has two pretty tough games, but if they show up to play like they know how, they should be able to get two wins.

What does everyone else think?

Predictions for Dec. 3 games

In keeping with my preseason predictions of 10-28

B.V. wins @ Simpson

Not keeping with my preseason

Central wins @ Luther  (Central has been beaten by the number 9 and 23 rated teams will show better against Luther)

Dubuque uses home court to down Wartburg

coin flip Loras @ Coe.  Remi hits three pointer at the end of third OT to win the game.

I find it hard to believe that a dog is going to hit the game winning shot.
