My imaginary money is on Dubuque to have a decent 2nd half to the conference season and get that last conference tourney spot over Cornell.  Once in the tourney, UD and Coe will be tied with less than a minute left in the game.  Leading Bird Dog to mutter "oh no you don't Spartans...not in my daughters senior season you don't"

Oh no Doolittledog is adding seer and prophet to his already impressive resume.  Dubuque 64  Loras 58.  Tied with Loras for fifth place and obviously on the move.

Congratulations to Kaitlyn Breitbach  and Sarah Anciaux making the Capital One District 7 All Academic second team.

1,000 point scorer AND good in the classroom.  Allways a nice combination

Coe moves to 19th in the USA/ESPN coaches poll and to 22nd in the D3 Hoops poll.  In last weeks (new one due out Wed.) NCAA West Region power ratings Coe was #1, Simpson #3, and Wartburg #5.

Not sure how #4 St. Benedict did this week, but #2 Lewis & Clark got blown out on Saturday.  I'm guessing that Coe stays #1 and Simpson moves up to #2.

St. Ben's (or CSB as we call 'em over on the MIAC board) has a big home game tonight vs Macalester.  On paper anyway, this is a game they SHOULD win but the way the MIAC has been going this year you just never know.

Good to see a team like Coe doing so well (my hometown is just 60 miles north/northeast of Cedar Rapids).  What Randi Peterson has done with that program is nothing short of amazing.  I've seen Simpson play a couple times up here in the Twin Cities and they're awfully good, too.  Stacey Schutjer is a VERY good player and it'll likely come down to those two when the IIAC Championship game rolls around.

Just hope the MIAC can get more than one team in the Dance this year.....

Last night I was looking at CSB's record.  They have lost to Hamline, Bethel, and St Oalf, all middle of the pack teams.  CSB beat St. Thomas on CSB's home floor by two pts..  Their last game of the regular season is at St. Thomas who is tied for the lead in the conference.  How are you handicapping that one?

After CSB got dough-popped at home by Macalester last night 72-58, I'm at a total loss to try and explain this crazy, insane conference.

What's up with Coe losing to Loras last night?

They shot 36% from the field and went scoreless in the first 8 minutes of the second half.

Kohawks up 34-24 with 2 minutes left in the 1st half.

So far, Coe announcers have pronounced Bird Dogs daughters last name 4 different ways ;D

That's not so bad.  When I was growing up in my immediate family it was pronounced a several different ways.  I assume my dad prounced it correctly with an u at the front.  Nobody uses that pronounciation any more.

If Simpson wins the AQ, is this a two bid league?  I have to think it is.

If Coe wins the AQ, do they host first/second round? Does Simpson get in?

I've got to think it would be.  I just don't see Coe going from being ranked #1 in the Region in every set of the rankings, to not getting an at-large bid should they lose to Simpson.

Kind of goes back to the above statement.  If Coe gets in as the AQ, I don't see how they wouldn't host having been the #1 team in the region in each set of rankings.  Only way that probably wouldn't happen is if they didn't put in a bid to host.

After seeing that Simpson struggled with Cornell yesterday, I think a Wartburg-Simpson rubber match should be a good one.

I'm more worried about BV/ Loras on Thursday than Simpson, Wartburg, or Dubuque on Saturday.
