Thanks Pat.  The article in DIII hoops says that U. W. Stevens Point and Thomas More made the sectionals.  I believe they left out a team.  Coe made it as far as U.W. Stevens Point and Thomas More.  Maybe the article could be edited to include Coe.

Well, my family are all Hawkeye fans...so now I will be a fan of the Hawkeyes AND a fan of Ms Doolittle ;D

Unfortunately, Ms Doolittle being 10" taller than me means she must not be a relative.  I do have a neice that will be a Duke Blue Devil this fall...though she is giving up soccer and cross country to focus on the academics

Checking Coe's schedule nonconference looks tough with an exhibition game Nov. 1 @ Iowa State, Nov. 18 vs. Illinois Wesleyan (at Eau Claire Wi. tournament), and Dec. 10 @. Carthage College.  I.W will be a rematch of Coe's last game and Carthage always seems to be hanging around in the  top 25.  The Kohawks also play a team I would have liked to play the last four years Carleton.  They had a high school rival of my daughter playing for them.  Both have graduated. Go Kohawks.

BV, Coe, Loras, and Cornell have posted their 2011-12 rosters.  Everyone looks like a winner so far.

Still going to attend some games???  Out of habit???

Some weeks I would go to four or five games Junior High, High School, and College.  My daughter only played in two a week. My little girl Issy who really is a bird dog expects to go hunting twice a week instead of once a week this year.  I will probably cut back to two or three games a week.

Luther 2011-2012 Women's Basketball Roster
3 Freshmen, 18 Total

Only three Seniors only one with any significant stats (7ppg. 3reb., and 2 assists).  One was recruited to the team at midseason, the other played in thirteen games.  Luther needs those three frosh to fireballs or things are going to be real rough.

Loras 2011-2012 Women's Basketball Roster

U.D. Aimee Reyzer (1st team all conference),  Mollie Whiting (2nd team), and Alia Cook (Honorable mention)
Loras Lindsey LaBadie (1st team) and Brittany Kent (2nd team)

Both teams beat Wartburg late in the season.  Both teams had 3pt or less games against Coe and Simpson on Coe and Simpsons home floor in the league tournament.  The rivalry may have more than in town bragging rights at stake this year.

Kohawk women kick off their season tonight with an exhibition game against Iowa State University.  Good luck Kohawks.

Looked like everyone else starts on Nov. 15,  Good luck to all.

Congrats to Wartburg women's basketball beaten by Iowa State 61-40.  I believe it was 29-25 at half.  That is an excellent outing against a DI team.

Maddie Sadecky (former Iowa City West Phenom) had 13 pts. and Sam Harrington had 11pts.  They were 5 for 11 beyond the arc.

I posted this last year when Wartburg was beaten by ISU.  Coe gets beat this year.  What I find interesting is that the last year Maddie Sadecky (former Iowa City West Phenom) and this year Mackenzie Reed (former Iowa City West Phenom) were the high scorers in the game for their respective DIII schools.  Do the girls growing up in Iowa City face DI talent more often and know how to play against them (or just coincidence)?

Reed scored 12 pts.

Preseason coaches rankings are out.  Simpson (6 1st place votes) picked number one, Wartburg 2nd , and Loras (3 1st place votes) and Coe tied for third.  U.D. at 5. BV, Cornell, Central and Luther round out the conference.
