Doolittle our favorite IIAC teams play Wed.  Coe fans are worried about what happened last year when Coach Noll shut Coe down in the second game.  Hopefully Noll will have forgotten what stategy he used.

Happy New Year to all.

There will be video for this game at the UD site, though I bet you will be at the game in Dubuque.  UD has had a slow start to the season, but the Dubuque paper had an article a few days ago that suggested UD might be coming out of their early season doldrums and might be ready to start playing at a higher level.  We shall see, Coe is a top tier team.  Should be fun to watch.

UD has a  loss to Simpson and four losses to colleges in a higher division including two in the WIAC.  Oops I forgot the WIAC isn't up a division but should be. I think this will be a real barnburner.  Coe is  playing a JV game at Dubuque.  Coe's JV has been very interesting and I think will pay dividends to the Varsity in the future.

If you are a WIAC fan don't read the following it's private (Doolittledog I like throwing out the they should be up a division just to hear them scream).

Picks for Wed.

Coe over U.D.  Sorry Dog close but no cigar.

Central over Luther.  Upset,  Klompen I still think Luther is the worst team in the league.

Simpson over Cornell.  The score may not show it but my sources say Cornell is improving.

Loras over B.V.  Sorry Dog.

My apologies to those I picked to win.  Everyone who knows my prowess as a prognosticator knows it is the  kiss of death.

YES!

Just finished eating dinner and sat down at the computer for a night of UD/Coe basketball.

UD is up 37-35 over Coe with 15:59 left in the 2nd half.

Hey Bird Dog, if you're at the game, stand up and wave to the camera :D

doolittledog

UD 48-48 Coe with 7:48 left in the game.

doolittledog

Coe up 60-58 over UD wit 1:48 left.  I don't think anyone has had more than a 2 point lead since I have been watching the game.

Coe up 62-58 with 16.1 left.  Time out on the floor and UD with the ball.

Coe up 62-60 with 3.0 left.  Time out on the floor.  Coe to inbound the ball under the UD basket.

Final score...63-60 Coe beats UD

And Bird Dog was correct...close but no cigar!!!

Two out of four right that may be a record for me.  BV vs Loras was surprise for me, Loras did so well against Carthage and in a couple of earlier games.

Doolittle I was on the camera side bleachers when I stood up you couldn't see the game.  If there was sound I'm sure you heard me.

Next the dreaded trip to Pella.  Hello Jarsma Bakery, Butcher (Ulrich?) shop, and Brown's Shoe Fit.  The money Klompen dropped in C.R. is coming back.

Krazy I noticed you were on when I signed on did you watch the game?  Comments

Picks for Saturday

B.V. over Luther               Luther can't over come home cooking.  Speaking of food if you go to B.V.  Sac City
has a resturaunt called Sac County Cattle Company.  Plain building north side of main
street through town.  Voted best hamburger in Iowa 2010.  Forget the burger get a
steak called Bubba.  I think they lie about the size of their steaks.  If they say its
weighs X it really weighs X plus 2 or 3 oz.

Wartburg over U.D.          Sorry Dog

Cornell over Loras            Upset pick

Coe over Central               Dog If you watch I'll be the one with Dutch Letter, beef stick, and new shoes

Good luck to all and have a safe trip and injury free game

predictions for 1/15/11

Simpson over Luther

Loras over Dubuque

Coe over Wartburg

Central over Cornell

BV over Bye

Bird Dog

I can't believe I got them all right.  Especially when you consider my previous record.  I need to keep posting my predictions after the games are over.

Coe 51 Wartburg 39  very defensive game.  Hopefully Wartburg #40 Madison Sadecky isn't seriously hurt and has a quick recovery.  The game was very close when she left after playing 19 min. and scoring 14pts.

Bird Dog

Hoop Junkie if your out there say something.  We need some controversy to spice things up.

I have a question for old timers on here.  When Iowa still had 6x6 high school girls basketball.  How was the transition into 5x5 basketball at the IIAC level?  And how did the IIAC teams do on the national stage back in the day???
