Congrats are in order for the Norse. It's nice to see Coach H. back in the tournament  :)

I agree.  Good luck in the NCAA's!

Seems like a good bet that the MIAC pair will be playing the IIAC pair this week. What do the scouting reports say about Luther and Simpson?
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

Storm-what?

Congrats to the Storm on the at large bid! Hopefully, they can make some noise!

Here is a link to locate Concordia-WI women's stats:

http://northernathleticsconf.com/sports/basketball_women/statistics/2006-07/CUW.HTM

Concordia-WI has shown a good deal of inside/outside balance on offense to this point. Falcons have a couple of 3-point shooters and 2 or 3 starters who can crash the boards, plus plenty of depth off the bench.

I'm a little surprised that Simpson slipped in.  Speaks highly of the conference though.

Looks like we got matched up with Wisconsin instead of Minnesota.  Good luck on Friday ladies!

I compared Concordia-WI and Luther statitistics and (just to throw it out there), it appears that other than your TeKippe kid having a slight height advantage, and you have a couple more players that can shoot 3's, in terms of points given up and rebounding numbers the teams seem to be evenly matched.

The Falcons' 3 losses came relatively early. (2 non-conference--vs Ripon and Westminster of PA--the latter in a tournament in the Bahamas--and a conference loss against Wisconsin Lutheran on the road. Wisconsin Lutheran finished 13-6 in Northern Athletics Conference play.)

Any of you IIAC followers want to chime in?

Storm-what?

I'm a little suprised too. But they played a good non-conference schedule and won a lot of those games to good teams. It should be a tough game against Stout though. the big girl realy hurt us last year.

Duoss is TOUGH. I hope the Storm can find a way to beat Stout at their own game. While Stout has been the team to beat in the central region the last couple of years, they aren't the same team that they were a year ago. Duoss has seemed to struggle a bit more at times this season. If they can limit her touches and tighten up the "D" elsewhere I think their chances look good. I think the Storm have some quality wins and should head into this game with the confidence to pull it off.

Congrats to Margo Muhlbauer and Tracey Hartwig from BVU on being named 1st Team All-Conference!  Great Day to be a BEAVER!!

Blue Devil Backer

As a lady blue devil fan yes Duoss is down some this year but the outside game is up alot more this year

Like I said, limit her touches and tighten up the D elsewhere. It should be a great match-up.

Did I mention I love this time of year???

Hope that's all Simpson plans on doing... :)

It didn't work very well last year, Molly Hendricks was tied with Kelsey with 19 points and played a helluva game - everyone on the team felt she was the key to the win.

This year's Molly Hendrick's is Savanah Oeltjen - recently named to the first team all WIAC team.

Besides, if people think Kelsey is struggling, well...  She was just awarded WIAC POY award for the second time, as well as the top defensive player in the league.

Here's some of this year's stats from the WIAC announcement:

QuoteShe secured first team honors for the third consecutive season after leading the conference with a .578 field goal percentage and 77 blocked shots, while ranking second with 8.4 rebounds per contest and third with 15.4 points per game.  Duoss has posted a league-best eight double-doubles (points-rebounds) and led the team in rebounding in 22 of 28 games and scoring in 21 contests.  Her 10 blocked shots against UW-Whitewater on January 27 is the second-highest single-game total in WIAC history.

Kelsey only played 21 minutes in last year's game, which is not that far off from her average playing time of 23 minutes.  Expect to see Dani Boese, Jenny McDermid and Julia Hirssig assisting in playing the "Big Girl" role.

Any Simpson posters making it to the game?

Could be well over 2,000 people at the game if the weather doesn't totally screw things up!!!  We had 2,467 at the WIAC Conference Championship game, and weather was bad last weekend too.

Facilities as Stout are really nice, and I hope that any of you that make the trip enjoy the community also.

Hopefully it will be a cleanly played, well officiated game - and may the best team win.

With a foot of snow being dumped in western/central Iowa, traveling may be limited throughout the weekend.

It's not good in SE MN either...  Which is where I live.  Our trip to Stout tonight is dependent upon today's weather.  Made it to the WIAC Championship game in questionable weather, but had all day to get there.

I have to work until 5:00 PM today, so this time weather may intervene... :(
