Predictions on tonight's games:

Simpson comes out firing and never lets up, cruising by Dubuque with a 23 point win.

The Norse and Kohawks have a dog fight all night long, with the Kohawks pulling out a 3 point win.

You predicted Loras would beat Dubuque by 17 and Dubuque won by 1...now applying that to you saying Simpson will beat Dubuque by 23...I will say Simpson has an off night and beats Dubuque by 5  ;D

Luther and Coe go into triple OT...by that time the snow storm is in full fury and we lose internet connections, phone connections and everything else and at this time tomorrow nobody knows who won the game!!!

Coe has a lot of mojo going for them right now but I think Luther playing at home will eventually prevail.

Coe travels to Simpson for the conference title

Coe wins their first round game in OT
Coe wins their second round game in OT
Coe wins the conference title game in OT???

Storm-what?

No way! Coe will be worn down! :) Actually, I think it will be a really close game and Coe will fight hard. IF Simpson plays their game, and I think they will, then they will come out ahead.

Third times the charm...

First time out Simpson destroys Coe with Karkosh only playing :26

Second time out Coe leads most of the second half, only to have Simpson attempt four times as many free throws as the Kohawks...

Third time...Simpson is in the NCAA's already, Coe is playing to extend the season....This could be a battle!

Perhaps the Coe ladies will be too distracted worrying over who will be the next Coe football coach  ;D

I'm pretty sure they could care less...lol

Storm-what?

I would argue that in mid-season it might have been tough for the Simpson team to stay motivated. I mean, they were cruising through so many victories and with no end really in sight. Now, the end is in sight and  I am sure they are fired up at the prospect of how the postseason will go! Time will tell!

What a hard fought game by both Simpson and Coe today.  Simpson is a tough team to beat and I truly believe they can contend for the National Championship.

It's a shame that Coe probably won't get an at-large bid, as I'm sure there are a few teams that make the Tourney they could beat...

Coach Peterson has this program heading in the right direction...

Storm-what?

Kohawk- Yes, the Coe team seems to have some really good players and chemistry. I think you are right that the Storm CAN content for the championship, if they can stay sharp! WHen they are on, they are ON!! It is a big advantage for them to play at home also!

Storm-what?

Congrats to Simpson on making it to the Sweet 16!! They battled hard! Played much better in Saturday against UW-EuClair, than they did against Gustavus on Friday. I hope they can make it farther than last year!

Central womens basketball coach resigned today after 3 years in Pella to "explore other options".  Her teams went 15-58 over the last 3 years.

Good luck to Natalie Nakic, she was a class act and I'm sorry to see that she is leaving Central.  Jerry Nikkel, the Central assistant coach has been named head coach.  Good luck to them both.

Any news for schools and the recruits they are bringing in?

MIDWEST CONFERENCE HISTORY BOOK: NO ORDINARY CONFERENCE

George Drake, a former Midwest Conference student-athlete and 1956 Grinnell College graduate, has culminated a project he calls "a labor of love" with the completion of the 100-page soft cover book No Ordinary Conference, an introspective history of the Midwest Conference. The Midwest Conference office is making the book available to the general public at a discounted price via the Order Form linked below for a limited time only (a small number of copies may be available at full price after the ship date). Orders are expected to ship in September.

Drake, who remains a professor at his alma mater, teamed with 2001 Grinnell grad John Aerni to provide a unique look at the league's history through interviews with Midwest Conference student-athletes and unprecedented access to league minutes.

No Ordinary Conference includes the accounts of numerous student-athletes and chronicles over 80 years of history from the league's formation through the men's and women's conference unification and beyond. No Ordinary Conference also features a 34-page photo gallery of some of the conference's all-time great athletes, coaches and administrators.

This is my first post.  I wish basketball season would start right now.  Going through the IIAC rosters, to me BV with everyone back is the preseason favorite.
