Poll: which top empire 8 team falls to the pioneers? One of them will.

All of them? Lol nah. Certainly, Springfield next week could do it with that defense. Although I don't know how UC defends the option. They hung with Fisher last season and the Cardinals aren't looking like world-beaters right now.

I think they're probably going to win 2 this season. I can't really see them winning at Alfred, but 2 of the other 3 look doable. No easy outs in the E8 this season...

AU's Vinson Hendrix was the Saxon workhorse today, going 175 yards with 3 TDs on 36 carries. His rushing yardage has exceeded the previous week's total each game this year.

AU finishes with 190 rushing yards to go with 242 passing yards for total yardage of 432 while Springfield went for 435 yards with 396 on the ground and 39 through the air. Secky was 14-for-19 for 185 yds and 3 TDs, no INTs. Ryan Thon was 1-for-1 for 57 yards and a TD. Manzer had 8 catches for 168 yards and 3 TDs.

SC QB Josh Carter had 21 carries for 115 yards and a TD and was 4-of-9 for 39 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT.

Saxons had no turnovers....Springfield had an INT and a fumble.

Great job, Saxons! Springfield is a tough quick athletic team...Pep wishes them the best for the remainder of the 2009 season!
On Saxon Warriors! On to Victory!

Hey Pep,

Is it not difficult to evaluate today's game from the perspective that it looks like the first test for either team, seeing the schedule and results of the teams they have beaten.

Hopes are up but I guess we won't really know much at all for two weeks at least.

You're absolutely right....Saxons have their highest hurdles still before them, but to their credit, they haven't stumbled early as they did last year.

dlip has been saying this all along, Josh Carter is ****in nasty and young. A very dangerous combination! If Pride D can step up thie team will be for real.
