Triple option teams do not win at Ithaca. Period. That's six straight heading back to 2002. Combined record of those teams (outside of their loss to Ithaca):

45-10

The weather cooperated today, as the field was muddy--the worst kind of conditions to run the triple option in. But the Bombers did a great job. Just a fantastic win.

I will say this: I know Salisbury's got a great corner. But with 42 seconds left, you HAVE to know Joe Ingaro is going to be targeted. Leaving him one on one with no safety help over the top is a terrible defensive play call. Ingrao is the Bombers' one play-maker. You have to double him in that situation.

That was a freshman SS. Bad technique, not understanding the game a who the go to guy was. Also, with those field condintions, any decent teams has a chance against the option. Nevertheless, good game by Ithaca.

UC 24, Alfred 7.

Saxons in some real deep trouble.

Saxon Run game only has 45 yards....

Utica with their most impressive performance by far. Suddenly, the Pioneers look like they could shock the conference. I mean, why couldn't they win some 35-34 kind of game over the Gulls? This isn't 2011. Salisbury's not winning every conference game by three or four touchdowns. Aside from Ithaca, Alfred and Fisher both had good chances to beat them. The conference is there for the taking if the Pioneers come to play

Alfred isint helping themselves either. They just got flagged for roughing the passer at the UC 18. they would have had quality field position, but they blew it and now UC is driving across midfield.

As far as UC-Salisbury is concerned, i know how UC's defense played last year in that game, but remember, at the start of the third quarter, UC led 42-35 over the gulls.

With the defensive improvement, along with the emergence of the run game for UC, we could be looking at a very, very tight ballgame.

Well, we lost 2 tailbacks, a wide receiver and our quarterback.  Defense on the field the whole game.  Darn.

Didn't you lose the starting tailback only for a couple of plays?

Fisher lost the QB in the 1st quarter against Salisbury and that was the best offensive display we've seen all year for 3 quarters...so sometimes it can be a blessing in disguise  :)

Thanks for the correction. Strange to see a coverage breakdown like that from a team like the Gulls

Good win UC!!!

I really think UC is going to beat Fisher in a few weeks. They can move the ball really well, and I think they will be able to out score Fisher. With how they  looked today, I see it as UC and SU for the conference...Wow, would not have that I would type that a few weeks ago...
GO FISHER!!!

No. We lost Beckwith and Dwyer and Sopak in the 1st quarter.  Sopak came in for one more play.  WR Phillips apparently was also knocked out.  Don't know when.  These are reports from fans at the game.

If any of these injuries are blessings in disguise, they are well disguised.   :P

I think the D should be able to bottle them up with Sant and Burdick, finding ways for Fisher to score on offense is another story...

I know Beckwith was playing when I was watching the game and it was well beyond the first quarter.  Was everybody else out the entire game or just spurts?

The reports on the AU football facebook page  from people who were at the game say Beckwith was out in the first quarter.  I heard the game anouncers misidentify Maroney(?) as Beckwith several times.  I'll have to look at the play by play breakdown.  As I say I'm quoting eyewitness reports from AU fans.

I just quickly scanned the game play by play.  Beckwith carried the ball 4 times, all in the 1st quarter.  His injury is listed  a couple of plays before the play on which both Sopak and Dwyer were injured.  I did not see his name mentioned again.  Apparently the #36 who filled in is named Zach Brinkley but was reoeatedly called Maroney(?) by the game anouncers.  I thought Beckwith was back in the game a couple of times until I realized that the anouncers were referring to the UC quarterback.
