2 Yrs ago SJF came to UR and switched QB's and then went on to win 30-10.  Hopefully SJF can find someone to run this offense they way Kramer could...

theoriginalupstate

SJF gets the ball at mid-field and is facing 3rd and 4 from the UR 34...

gain of 3 and SJF is going for it...

6yd gain by Harrington...

Yanks 99

My connection just broke up...holding Fisher?

Wow...big personal foul.  Not sure if I would have take the points off the board.

Wow-

  • UofR makes 37 yard field goal, SJFer commits a personal foul
  • UofR accepts penalty, 1st and goal at SJF 5 yard line
  • UofR commits 14 penalties, 4th and goal from the 25
  • UofR misses 42 yard field goal attempt

SJFer 21, UofR 17, 1:00 remaining 3d Q, SJFer driving (UofR 21)

Did anyone see the play?

What was the personal foul, that wasn't a dead ball foul?  I ask because a personal foul dead ball foul--such as a late hit--wouldn't give UofR the option to replay the down.

If im not mistaken, PF's on scoring plays give you the option of taking it on the kickoff or taking the yardage...

1. Even on a dead ball foul?  Like a kick in the helmet after the play is blown dead?

2. That seems odd to me.  The effect would be very different for a touchdown play and a field goal play--I mean, the option would only realistically apply to field goals--and conversions, I suppose.

This is an exciting game, no doubt.

UofR keeps cheating death--now a blocked FG attempt with ~1:30 left, ball on UofR 5, no TOs.

Caz Bombers

fumble, Fishies recover and they'll sneak off with the W.

I wouldn't call it sneaking off Caz, the entire 2nd half U of R couldn't move the ball that well on offense save one or two drives.  Fisher on the other hand had a field goal blocked, and also threw an interception in the endzone and another red zone interception previously.  It's more like U of R snuck off in terms of keeping it from being a blow out.

Sneak off may not have been the best phrasing but UR did have the ball with a chance to tie in the final minute, lost by 7 and was within 3 at halftime.  I think by definition that's not a game that was close to being a blowout.

Also, you're saying that other than the times UR moved the ball effectively on offense and made defensive plays to keep Fisher from scoring (which as I understand it is the objective of football), Fisher crushed them.  That's, uhh, certainly one way of looking at it.

There is a difference between a defense making big plays and a red zone offense that is pathetic with a quarterback who makes terrible decisions and basically gift wraps the ball to the defenders.  So yeah I can look at is as us failing to capitalize on making it a blowout as opposed to U of R doing a great job of stopping us.

I don't see the two concepts as being mutually exclusive, and as an objective observer of the second half, I'd have to say both points have equal merit:

  • Fisher did indeed fail to capitalize on numerous gift-wrapped red zone opportunities, and
  • UofR's defense did an amazing job of keeping Fisher out of the end zone.

I only listened to (most of) the second half, and from what I heard, there's no question that Fisher was the superior team.

They were physically superior to the UofR, but SJF just lacks something this year.  They just cant keep themeselves out of trouble with Penalties and inability to finish drives...
