Dear people who are putting NYU in the poll --

Are you paying attention?  They have lost four straight games.  They are 2-7 in their league.

with age came?

Of course probably every team from Hamilton down to all the also rans might be 2-7 in that league too!!  And 2 of the last four losses are to Wash U which probably would put a loss on every team in our poll (and in my opinion that includes Ithaca too). Please don't smite me oh lord!!!!

Having seen both play, I'm not sure Ithaca could stay within 20 of Wash U right now.  But I don't think many, if any,  teams could.

Don't worry, no smiting.  But you know who their other 2 losses in this stretch are to?  Chicago.  They are 4-16.

I watched Chicago a couple of weeks ago and thought they were the most dangerous 1-15 team I had seen.  Since then they have played much better.   As I watched them I tried to compare them to local teams I have seen.  Other than Ithaca, I don't think many teams in this region would compete with Chicago.  When they're shooting well, as against Brandeis when they went 17-26 from behind the arc, they are tough.  And they are getting their confidence back.  Not saying they are a great team.  Just dangerous.

Haven't seen them in person yet.  That will be this weekend.  But my impression from others and what I have listened to is that they should be as good as Ithaca, but they are not.  They have all the weapons and are fairly deep, but seem to have trouble putting it together for complete games.

I know they played UR tough, but this is still a 4-16 team.  Their only road win is at NYU.  They started the season off terribly, losing to some very good but also some pretty bad teams.

And since someone mentioned that two of NYU's four straight losses are to WashU, it's only fair to point out the other two are Chicago.  NYU really doesn't belong in the poll anymore, even if you argue their record would be better playing in one of the East Region leagues.

I agree and haven't voted for NYU in weeks.  Though sometimes it is hard to find a #7 and #8.  I was just pointing out that Chicago is playing very well right now.

Have to believe pollsters were impressed by win over Elmhurst (only team to defeat Wash U) to jump Wheaton over Ithaca. Although Pabegg is projecting Ithaca as a safe into pool c even if it does not win conference which is cool. Both Hamilton and ST Lawrence look to be in pretty good shape too if one loses to the other in the conference tournament. I would really like to see a NY team go to the final four and the northeast does not look quite so dominant this year.  I can only hope!!

with age came?

P.S. Speaking of polls- little too much love to Genny State in my humble opinion as they mow down weakened SUNYAC league teams. Not 1 win against a East ranked team and to get #3 seed is generous.  Deserved to be ranked but not that high (will accept all attempts to convince me otherwise with an open mind). ::)

While I don't necessarily disagree with you (I had them lower), who woould you put at #3?

Pollsters are more impressed with the fact that Wheaton was undefeated and #1 until  their All American Kent Raymond went down with a bad ankle sprain. He missed 3 games during which they went 1-2. He came back and played limited minutes in their next game which they lost. With a healthy Raymond they are 19-0, without him 1-3. They may be the best team in the country. Since his full return from the ankle injury they have won 5 straight, all by double digits in one of the toughest conferences in the country.

Also agree with you that Geneseo is ranked too high. I had Hamilton in the 3rd spot based on their in region record and the fact that 4 of their 6 losses came with key players out with injuries.  I put RIT 4th followed by Rochester, Fisher, Geneseo, and Utica. Nice to see that St. Lawrence unanimous #2 pick this week.
