Cortland plays listless ball until turning a flashy finish into 65-54 Friday win over scrappy Morrisville at RDragons Corey confines. Takes sole possession of fist place. Corts trail 48-40 with 8:39 to go before suddenly finding some zip that's been their conference calling card. K. Wilson's lone goal -- a trey, puts Dragons ahead 53-52 at 3:30. A. Coston triple at 1:21 makes it 57-52 and the gap grows. Cortland just 6x23 beyond the arc and 43 percent FG. Mustangs, a mere 2x12 free throwing overall, overcome early eight point deficit to lead 30-29 at half.

New Paltz suffocates Cortland in 54-39 style on RDragons floor. Hawks, who snare league top spot over hosts by a half game, never yield the lead and check Corts to 12 second half points --- that's one-two as in 12!!! Dragons, trailing just 30-27 at intermission, start final period shooting 1x12 and are 2x19 with 5:43 to play. Finish at 29.5 percent and under .500 FTs, 18 turnovers. Paltz no FG ball o' fire at 39 percent, but simply stifling defensively.
  S. St.Lucia 17pts (7x14fg, 3x5 3s, 4 stls) shows the way. Lone Paltzster in double figures. For CSt it's K. Arcuri 13 pts; I. Austin 9pts (3x5fg, 2x3 3s, 15').
NP 13-4, 17-7. Cortland 12-4, 13-10. NP sweeps season series.

Oswego dumps Potsdam 100-69 with blistering 44x72 shooting eyes. Fifteen Lakers in scoring column, five in double figures led by G. McLane 15pts (7x7fg, 1x1 3s, 6reb). M. Sylla 20pts for the Bears.
  Oswego 11-5, 15-8. Pdam 5-11, 5-18

Morrisville sinks Oneonta 80-74 behind K. Sanders 26pts (11x20fg). E. Castillo 25pts (8x15fg, 7x8ft) for OSt.

Regular campaign winds up this evening and Saturday afternoon with one playoff berth still TBD along with positioning for next week's start of conference postseason action.

New Paltz at 13-4, Cortland 12-4, Oswego 11-5, Plattsburgh 9-7, and Oneonta 9-8 are assured to move on ....currently in that order BUT maneuvering is likely to occur.
Morrisville at 8-8 currently holds the sixth and final playoff slot, trying to hold off 6-10 Buffalo St. Both finish on the road, Mville finishes at Canton and Oswego while the Buffs are at Pburgh and Potsdam. BS swept the Mville season series should that be a determining factor.
Meanwhile New Paltz certainly holds its first place destiny in its hands at home with one remaining game vs. Oneonta. Cortland has tests at Oswego and Canton. Pburgh in addition to hosting Buff St. also is home Saturday vs. Fredonia.

The first place team's court will be the scene of the Final Four (Feb. 28-March 1). Second place also draws a first round bye. Teams three through six (3-6, 4-5) play Tuesday at the lower seed to qualify for the Final Four.

Oswego takes apart Cortland 79-45 Friday night in Oswego where Lakers settle matters in the opening half. Clamping down on the RDragons with fierce man-to-man defensive tactics, Oswego throughout the period forces its guest into rushing shots into paltry 12 percent (3x25) display in 20 minutes. Lakers up 39-14 at half and coast to the finish. Fourteen OSters see at least five minutes of court time -- 12 score. Frosh D. Judd with 14pts (5x11fg, 8rebs, 28'); G. McLane 13pts (6x12fg); X. Allen 10pts, 8rebs. Have seven of 10 steals by halftime. Dragon K. Arcuri 19pts (9x10ft, 7rebs); J. Davis 8 rebs.
Oswego currently ties Cortland for second place at 12-5 heading into Saturday regular season finales. Should they end tied, Oswego gets No. 2 nod on basis of splitting series with No. 1 New Paltz while CSt bows twice to NP.
Idle New Paltz, whose Saturday finale is at home vs. Oneonta, clinches top seed by sweeping Cortland series.
    Oswego 12-5, 16-8. Cortland 12-5, 13-11.

Morrisville assures final conference playoff spot defeating Canton 83-81 in overtime behind K. Sanders 33 points (13x25fg, 34'). Sanders makes tying foul shot at 0:09 but misses the second bid. Mustangs capture the rebound and Sanders lands winning jumper at 0:04. Match tied at 36 at half and at 67 thru regulation. K. Goode Jr. 23 pts (8x13fg, 4x5 3s, 7rebs) for Kangaroos.

Plattsburgh ekes out 78-77 home overtime win over Buffalo St. N. Infante two free throws as time expires the difference. Buffs Z. Johnson triple at 0:07 briefly puts Bengals in 77-76 lead.
  Pburgh 10-7, 13-11. BS 6-11, 8-16

Potsdam pulls out 95-92 home victory over Fredonia. Bears erase 47-40 halftime deficit and get 20 points apiece from M. Sylla and N. Cortez. Freds B. Kulakowski steals scoring show with 35pts (5x10 3s, 12 rebs).

Cortland kayoes defending conference champ Oswego 74-65 in Final Four Friday semi at New Paltz. RDragons challenge New Paltz in Saturday title game with automatic NCAA tourney shot at stake.
Top seed host New Paltz advances with 74-72 rallying past fourth seed Plattsburgh.

Humiliated at Oswego by 34 points only a week earlier, Cortland found its shooting eyes to nearly lead from start to finish in playoff rematch. Lakers lone lead at 2-0 before falling into 39-20 halftime arrears. Dragons close the period on 12-0 run with Oswego scoreless over last 4:30.
CSt in 53-30 command with 10:30 left. Oswego reloads and climbs within 64-61 at 2:23. At 2:02 Dragon K. Wilson connects in the paint and adds free throw. Lakers never nearer than six the rest of the way.

Cortland wears the conference crown with bruising 61-52 conquering of top seed New Paltz at NP in Saturday matinee. Perhaps third seed RDragons best game-long performance of the season in earning NCAA tourney berth. Only one last-year player on the roster, and he saw no action in finale. K. Arcuri and J. Davis on all-tourney team and others deserving, particularly A. Coston and freshman K. Wilson. NP Hawks had swept regular season series.
Point guard Wilson's 10 points set up Cortland well in the first half. Holds 34-25 edge at the break. Is 12 point margin prior to Hawk AJ Knight buzzer-beating triple. Corts grab 12 point spread starting the last period. NP within 39-36 on Knight bucket at 12:15, but Coston free throw and Arcui deuce and trey make it 45-36 at 9:30. Hawk in pretty sizeable chase mode the rest of the way. Arcuri three gives guests 55-44 lead at four minutes.
Wilson hits clutch hoop at 1:24, but Hawk S. St.Lucia three brings NP within 57-52. Dragon breakaway sees G. Beaubrun feed G. Armbrewster layup at 0:23.
Cortland 10x21 in 3s, 22x55fg, 7x10ft. NP 39 percent from the field, 7x22 3s, 3x4ft. Dragons 37-29 board advantage. Refs let 'em play for the most part. Each side with but two fouls in the first half. Not many more later.
  Arcuri with 16pts (5x12fg, 2x5 3s, 12 REBS, 38'; Wilson 14pts (6x11fg, 2x3 3s, 3assts, 24'; Davis 11pts (4x8fg, 3x4 3s, 12rebs, 2blks, 2stls);Coston 9pts, 2blks)
. For NP it's S. St.Lucia 17pts (7x16fg, 2x5 3s, 3stls); Knight 15pts (6x16fg, 3x10 3s); M. Cummings 10pts (4x7fg); D. Smith 11rebs, 6assts.
While Dragon men win at New Paltz, Cortland women win fair sex title at Cortland!
  Cortland 17-11. New Paltz 19-8
