"...Speaking of weather. Heard the Oswego area just got about 3 feet of snow, in the past couple of days...."

Yes this is true.  In Fulton the snow collapsed the roof of one of the department of public works buildings.  Those large snow blowing machines were in it.  They still can't determine the full extent of the damage.

Magic- Will be up north but will be taking in a Vassar team game.  I've seen P-burg already- athletic as anybody but not very deep in my opinion.  Tend to let inferior teams hang around a little but beat them down with the nasty zone trap press. Worried that starters may tire down the stretch because of too many minutes.  Haven't seen Vassar at all in the past five years so as much as I would like to see that game I'll probably stop in Canton or Potsdam. Want to see if this Avitibile at Vassar is for real. Know I'll be missing a tremendous game up in the far north.  By the way I think it was 4 feet of snow- drove through it last weekend after route 81 was closed. Pray I don't get repeat this weekend.

Coach Curle has been playing his bench more the past few games than he did earlier in the season. But I agree with you they are a little thin there. Also agree that they let too many teams hang around.  The 2 freshman, Errol Daniyan and Chris Ruiz have been improving with every game and are usually the 1st 2 off the bench. Daniyan had a good game against Cortland last week playing about 18 mins. and scoring 13 pts. The box score said he only played 6 mins. but that was wrong. I think that was only his 1st half min. Ruiz played 17 mins and scored 9 pts on 4x8 shots with 4 assists and 3 boards. Williams, of course, is the engine that drives the Cards, but Gorham and Hunt can step up big time if necessary. Gorham is a beast on the boards and Hunt has a nice stroke for a big guy. He buried a 3 against Cortland with 1:40 left to put the Cards up 68-65. Williams is a good shooter and draws a lot of fouls because of his penetration but rarely does he get the bucket and the foul on a lot of those drives settling instead for the foul shots. He's a little out of control sometimes and should be looking to dish off to one of his bigs because he draws the double team so much . But overall I wouldn't trade him for anybody I've seen. He has an uncanny ability to hit the big shot when needed. As he goes, so goes the Cards. Don't know how far the team can go this year but do feel they deserve to be in the NCAA's if they don't win the automatic bid.

Sounds like you're going to see Vassar play St Lawrence or Clarkson. My advice? Take in the SLU-Vassar game. My prediction SLU by 3. They are better than their record indicates and they've been on a roll lately. Vassar is having a good year so far but this game is for 1st place(I think, unless Clarkson upset The Larries tonight)  Have a safe trip.

Oops just went to the LL page and saw where you posted the SLU-Clarkson score. No surprises there.

Magic- good news about increased bench play for the Burgs.  Feel that b-port, platt and u of r are the best chances for a NY team to go deep at this point and to do that you've got to have your studs fresh.  I also tend to agree that Vassar may have a tough go against the Larries.  Also will probably take in an RPI game against one of the north country schools too.  They played a pretty tough non-league schedule and could surprise.

wac?

You're right about those 3 having the best chance to go deep. Unfortunately come tourney time they'll have to bump each other off.

Tom Brennan is one of the funniest guys on the planet. Haven't seen him in years. He used to make it over to Pburgh when the PBA tournament was a yearly affair and Mike Deane would make his annual trip up for that. I do try to catch Brennan on ESPN whenever I can on the weekends. His radio show in Vermont is hilarious.

hey guys--What's the story on this weekend's burg-Bport game? I like B-port only because its a MUST game for them. They really need to get a good streak going and the Burg would be a HUGE win. I just hope they dont look  past the Bears because they are always dangerous at home.

with age comes?

Agreed that B-ports with 5 early losses has to be more desparate. It's such a long journey though I have to say that Burg in a squeaker, though that's not what my heart necessarly wants..  Also agreed that the Bears are an athletic team also, and should not be overlooked particularly at home.  Believe B-port will not do that and will win by about 8-10 points.

bports

The loss to clarion pa  div 2 school will not count against Bport, keep that in mind. With that said they only have 4 losses not 5.

Cards7580

They do have FIVE loses.  This is there results for 2007-08 season from SUNYAC site.

And all losses count as do all wins. Because had they beaten Clarion that WIN would have
counted in their favor.

I agree with you B-port it might not be that big a factor and also Rowan loss is out of region BUT Roberts win and Lebanon Valley win are out of region and NAIA win. Maybe they negate each other. Hopefully if the Eagles finish 19-6 or 18-7 with 2 wins in the SUNYAC tourney their past tourney performances will earn them some consideration. No matter how you look at it ---BIG WEEKEND IN NORTH COUNTRY FOR THE EAGLES. GOOD LUCK!!!!!

Not in the NCAA Tournament selection process, they don't.
