Plattsburgh St. comes out flatter than a pancake as Geneseo opens up with a 13-4 lead in Memorial Hall. Gens. extend lead to17-4 with 9:12 left in the first half. Cards finally get it going led by E. Daniyan and C. Ruiz off the bench, to close to within17-15 at the 6 minute mark. Blue Knights hang on to a 25-23 edge at the half. Back and forth action to open the 2nd until Plattsburgh grabs their 1st lead of the game at 32-30 with 14:15 left. Cards never looked back, going on a 28-6 run to make it 60-36 with 3:40 to play. Cards outscored Geneseo 43-19 in 2nd half. A. Williams led the way with 16 pts and 6 rebounds T. Gorham 12 pts 11 boards. E.Daniyan with 14 and C.Ruiz with 9 off the bench. So the awaited match up is here--The Burg and The Port. Should be a thriller tomorrow PM. I got the Port by 4--Lightnin Rod and B-Dubs will be at their best and tough to stop. I know its a long ride from Potsdam to the Burg but game on boys! Make it a sweet ride home with the No.1 seed in "The Tut." Good Luck Eagles!!!!

F-in A Cards  by 22 points

I didn't expect that.   Best defensive game for them in a long time.
Makes them 2-2 w-l in games when they are held under 70 points.

I should drive up there tomorrow.    :-\  damn MBA group project week  :P

"...with the No.1 seed in "The Tut."...:"

Still a long SUNYAC season to go.   One win does not the #1 seed make.

It would be the tie-breaker if and when the regular season ends--I think you would agree Card that they will probably be 1 and 2 seeds. Yes?

As expected both Plattsburgh St. and Brockport St. took care of business tonight setting up the big matchup tomorrow afternoon at Memorial Hall in Pburgh. Home court means nothing when these 2 square off so a Brockport win wouldn't surprise me at all but I sure hope it doesn't happen. Can't remember if Pburgh ever hosted the SUNYAC tournament, sure would like it to happen this year.  GO CARDS!!!

Most likely they will be the top 2 seeds in the tourney. Bport still has to go on the road to Oswego, Cortland and Geneseo and its possible they could lose 2 of these games(not likely but possible.) Likewise the Cardinals have to play at Cortland and Potsdam so tomorrow's winner could still end up in 2nd place overall with 2 or 3 losses. Last year Port was clearly the top team in the reg. season with a 14-2 record while the Cards took 2nd at 11-5. And we all saw how that played out in the tournament. Cards trying to win 3rd championship in a row and the odds aren't in their favor to do that .
Actually not a very long ride from Potsdam to Plattsburgh. Only about 90 minutes.

Congrats to the Morrisville Mustangs for their 1st win in the SUNYAC conference.

And then there was 1. U-Mass-Dartmouth only undefeated team left in D3. Who'd a thunk it?  Both Rochester and #2 Brandeis go down Fri. nite. Still expect UR to hold onto the top spot with Amherst moving up to #2.

I think they proved last year that there is NO HOME COURT advantage.  Come to think of it, the last TWO years they proved that.

Like MagicMan, I don't recall Plattsburgh ever hosting the SUNYAC tournament.  It used to be permanent in Utica for awhile and they haven't been the #1 in the regular season since I was there back in 75-80.  Even when the CARDS finish 16-0 in the Regular season it means nothing IF they don't win the Tourney.   I prefer to go one game at a time and always  hope that they understand the History they are creating for the school, the program and themselves.    Each year is a building year.  Two years ago they lost in the first round of the NCAAs because their GO TO GUY didn't COME THROUGH.  Last year they played their hearts out at St John Fisher after the emotionally and physically draining U or R victory.
I think the returners ALL understand the mission this year, and I don't forget to remind them.

In order for this team to even get the proper amount of respect they deserve at the school they have to win the NCAA because they have to compete against not one but two Nationally ranked and previous winners  in Ice Hockey.  (Men's and Women's).    Hockey became kings back in the late 1970's at Plattsburgh and remains that way.  However I think Tom Curle has taken what Larry Cowen and Jones started and stepped up the program to the highest level ever.  (except during my time :) )

Probably still suffering the emotional and physical fatigue from their Sunday game.

Probably still suffering the emotional and physical fatigue from their Sunday game.

Lots of time off after that game between them last Sunday. Its not like a Fri. Sat back to back games. These young guys shouldn't be affected by any physical fatigue and as far as emotional fatigue for UR they won on Sun.and should have been in a great frame of mind. Maybe the long plane ride to Atlanta hurt. I don't think they take a bus on a trip that long. That would be a real killer. Brandeis just had a letdown between big games against UR and Washington on Sunday as Marty Perez stated on the Top 25 board.

Just catching up on the SUNYAC news

Bear we will have get together some time to share Chateuagay stories.  My mom went to high school with Jerry Welsh's sister

Drove up to Glens Falls last March to watch Chateaugay in the state finals.  They tried but the back to back games were their undoing.  For a town 3 miles for Canada and only known for world famous chesse.  They did good.

Haven't been able to make it to Potsdam this year.  Finally get see them next weekend at New Paltz.  New Paltz finally has a first class gym.

Next school which needs to upgrade is Plattsburgh.  I believe they are the only school still playing in their original gym.  What did they do with the money when Rockefeller was handing it out?  They also refuse to play in the gym which the Olympics built for them.  The hockey team uses it why not the basketball team?  You have a top tier team, need to upgrade the home court.

" ...What did they do with the money when Rockefeller was handing it out?  They also refuse to play in the gym which the Olympics built for them.  The hockey team uses it why not the basketball team?..."

Having played hoops on the court in the Field House at PLattsburgh I can tell you that the composit surface has bubbles in it.  In the NCAA final four year they played there up until Larry Parker almost broke his ankle during a loss against Division II Southhamton.  Basketball should be played on wood surfaces not rubber/plastic.  The switch to Memorial Gym was the best thing they did.  IT is "our" Cameron Hall.  From what I have heard the dead spots in the floor  have been repaired and it looks alot better than when I was up there.  Much better to have 500-600 people in a 1200-1500 seat gym then have the same number of fans in a 3500 seat ghost town.

FYI the Olympics didn't build the field house for Plattsburgh.  In fact about the only thing the Olympic experience got Plattsburgh was a poorly Patched running track surface.  It was the World University Games that helped get the field house built. The facilities at Plattsburgh were used by the US Olympic team in 1976 as a staging area on route to the Montreal Olympics  The field house was built before 1974.
