Just another factor in the formula of "who is better." Anyway B-port vs U of R anybodies game, and not played at U of R outcome could have been different. Get that "too good for Div 3 official" off the game and outcome reversed, Jacketfan!!!!

Jacketfan2011

Were you at the UR/Brockport game?  If so, it must have been apparent that the crowd was at least 60% for Brockport.  Some of the UR players commented after the game how bizzare it was to be at home and have the crowd rooting for the other team.  Especially in the "Hive" section which was populated by what appeared to be a good number of intoxicated Brockport students.  The mocking of the kid singing the national anthem was uncalled for and tasteless.  Anyway, there was zero homecourt advantage in either that game or the Naz game the next day.

And I'm not sure which official you are referring to, but I didn't think any were particularly good.  One was definetly playing for the camera.  If you still believe the disallowed 3 had any bearing on the game, then I disagree.  The whistle blew long (relatively) before the shot was tossed at the basket.  Even the NBA wouldn't have allowed it and wishing don't make it so.

Would love to see UR-Plattsburgh duel. Hope it happens.

We'd like your chances, Jacketfan. And yes, both UR and the Burgh have handled Cortland. But at very different times. Very, very young Corts outfit fell in late November at UR in respectable tourney showing. Ten point game at half and still close till closing 5-10 minutes. Would like to think Cortland has closed the gap now. Gave Cards all they wanted recently in north country.

But, yeah, difficult to gauge comparative scores, especially games at different stages of the season.

And let's have neutral grounds for a UR-Cards match .......

Jacketfan2011

Well, if we can qualify Cortland's performance at UR, then let's remember that UR was without Chmeilowiec their leading reeturning scorer and Juron (returning PG) was recovering from a knee injury and just beginning to work his way back into shape.

And I guess close is a relative term.  It was a 17 point game with 11 minutes left when Neer went "crazy" and subbed maybe a little too soon.  Cort cut it to 8 over the next minute and a half but UR got it back up to a 16 point lead in the next minute or so.

IU don't mean to imply a rematch with Brockport or a game with Plattsburgh would be easy.  I have discovered there really are no easy games (except Keuka  ;D).   I am a SUNY alumni and still have a daughter in the system.  Staunch supporter of all things SUNY.

You may be shouting into the wind on this. I was able to tell from 400 miles away on a tiny video screen that the shot was clearly launched after the whistle, but not one Brockport fan has managed to accept that fact.

When it was launched was definitely not a question. The call was the question!!No one around me,  Uof R or Bport people had any idea why the whislte was blown. I was across the court from the call. Anyway it is over and hopefully they will meet again down the road if Bport can continue to improve and not shoot themselves in the foot. I hope their history will earn them some respect when NCAA bids are available. Of course they need to string a bunch of wins together too.

Secondly, can't argue the presentation of the anthem at all. It is classless and am full support of you. Sorry it happened.

Not all fans are tasteless and the SUNYAC doesn't have a monopoly on that trait or other obnoxious ones. Please, The  U of R nut jobs are just as rude and tasteless as any fans I have ever witnessed in 40 years of playing or watching.  This is a paraphrased chant by the highly sophisticated YellowJacket Bumblebee fans after their team lost the 15 point lead and THE GAME to Plattsburgh last year.
I quote... "That's all right, that's okay you all will work for US some day...".   Add to that, during most of the game these so-called inspired students made racial slurs toward Anthony W. and Travis G.  and Antwan. Loud enough to disturb the 50 or so Plattsburgh fans including some teens and tweens related to players and coaches.  When I have to lean over and tell some college kid to tone it down it has to be pretty bad. Even slurs against one of the referees.  I am SURE that alcohol and other drug related items are being consumed on the U of R campus also.   IT is very unfortunate that many people don't respect the country enough to take a few minutes to sing or be silent and respect those who died to keep them free and able to express their rudeness in public.

Well, I was 400 miles away from it and I had no doubt whatsoever it was blown.

BTW, the SUNYAC is on the front page, if anyone looks at that.

Take a look at the current d3hoops feature on Plattsburgh.
For those who believe "THE SHOT" was a heave, go argue with the person who had one of the best views of the ACTUAL shot.  He saw what I saw.

I'm glad someone did a national article telling some of the story behind Travis and Anthony. They are class people and leaders in their own way.  I've seen what Anthony talks about in this article.

Yes Pat,  a truely great article.  Short and to the point.  Thanks.

Jacketfan2011

I really have no idea what you are talking about.  I said nothing about Plattsburgh, merely pointed out that the UR/Brockport game, while at UR was not a home environment.

I was at the UR/Plattsburgh game at SJF last year as well, sitting up behind the Plattsburgh bench.  Never heard a slur and frankly, it's hard top believe a racial slur would come from a UR fan given their adoration of Onyiriuka and Ndubizu.  If you had to tell a kid to quite down, well good for you.  Somebody has to be the grownup.

And maybe attending countless Colgate games has numbed me to the "...work for us someday" chant.

Regarding Anthony Williams buzzer beater vs. Rochester in last years NCAA game.

" And unless they moved the NBA three-point line back to a step inside halfcourt when I wasn't looking, it was a heave. An amazingly accurate one."

Jacketfan,

Hope you caught that article describing "the shot" in the" Around the Nation" article this morning. Especially the 4 out of 5 during practice before the game from the same spot  and Coach Curle saying "it wasn't a heave, it was a jump shot. If you saw the form on the shot you would have thought it was a 15 footer".

Well, that changes everything.  Curious though.  Why did Coach Curle suggest AW stop horsing around and practice something that might have been pertinent to the game?  I mean really.  4 of 5 from the same spot as the winner?  Seems like he should have made it part of the game plan.  After all, most opposing coaches don't spend a lot of time in practice working on defending 40 foot jump shots.

Scooter

I don't think anybody would look forward to playing Brockport from here on out.  They are a dangerous team that can beat anybody any time.  One of the freshmen guards is from my area and is a very good kid.  Class C Co-player of the year last year.  I imagine he is learning a thing or two from Harris this year.
