No Brandon Siskavich tonight for Potsdam. Is he injured again?

Buff State Media Guide says their last undefeated conference season was 71-72 (Randy Smith).

I saw Randy Smith play that year in the old Potsdam Gym(Merrit Hall I think it was called). What an athlete and ballplayer. The Bears put up a good fight that day but Randy was too much for us to handle. The mere mention brought back fond memories.

Been away a awhile! Have to make a living.

Glad I started a rebate debate.  The Plattsburgh people bring up the size of other schools gyms however these schools do not have a student population of over 5000.  It will be almost impossible for a fan from another school to get a ticket.  There are many diehard D3 fans that will travel the distance to see their team play, only to arrive and not get tickets is very dishearten.

FYI, just heard that Pburg will be holding a lottery for playoff tickets similar to what the Mets are doing for the last game at Shea.

RIP Shea Stadium!!!

Evidently no one really cared, but  .........just to placate you Fredonia followers (have to be some), Freds fell 52-46 to Geneseo. However, that halftime score was correct: 20-14 .......barnburner!!

#1537
Just returned from the Plattsburgh State game against Oneonta. Not really much of a contest at Memorial Hall this afternoon as Plattsburgh riding the emotional high of Senior Night jumped out to a quick 10 point lead and led 20-4 by the 10 min. mark. Up 30-12 with 6 minutes left in the half, they went to the break with a 43-26 advantage. More of the same to start the 2nd as they extended their margin to 62-33 with 12 minutes left to play. Once again Coach Curle substituted freely as 13 Cardinals hit the scoring column. The highlight of the day was Anthony Williams setting a new school record for career points scored breaking the mark set by former Plattsburgh State star Larry Parker. Williams nailed a 3 with approximately 6 minutes left to reach his game high 29 point total. Timeout was called and the milestone was acknowledged by the crowd with a huge standing ovation. It was the second straight night he hit for 29 or more and gave him a 3 year total of 1562 points. He also had a number of crowd pleasing passes to finish with 7 assists, 4 rebounds, and 3 steals. he was 10x19 FG 3x7 3pt 6x7 FT. Another milestone was reached as Travis Gorham scored 17 pts to top the 1000 pt. mark for his career. He finished with 17 pts on 7x11 FG, 3x6 from 3pt land. He also had 5 assists & 3 blocks in 29 mins. Khylan Hunt had his 2nd straight double-double with 11 pts. and 10 boards. Oneonta was led by Brian Hooks with 14 pts. on 4x7 FG 3x6 3 pt. 3x3 Ft. Robert Fisk added 10 pts on 4x14 FG Plattsburgh is now 14-0 in Sunyac play and 21-2 overall.

Coming down the home stretch it looks like the Burg and Bport are favorites to meet in the finals!!! Will the Bears finish as the 6th seed and Oneonta the 7th? Will Buff St hold off Fredonia with a win on Tuesday? Lets hear some chatter. What's everyone's thoughts?

Personally I think that Oswego and Cortland's matchups with Bport are not good. Bport wins hands down. I want to believe the Eagles can beat the Burg but will have to play exceptional game and not many mistakes; missed foul shots, good decisions in the transition game, and some breaks. A. Williams is the difference maker in that game, has been before and will continue to be. Go Eagles!!!

There you go Bear! With a little help from your North Country travel partner the Potsdam Bears currently own the #6 seed in the SUNYAC tournament. Win out and it's yours. Beat SUNYIT and lose to Cortland would mean Buff St. has to win their last 3 games to take it away from you. I like the Bears chances.

In response to an inquiry a while back:

Cortland 6-8, 260 promising fr C. Milke's absence appears to be from mono. Milke played in nearly every early season contest, averaging nearly 13'. Joins sophs M. Lewis and P. Oliver for imposing frontline down the line. Oliver in addition to yesterday's numbers had 6 assts. Fr. R. Evans as backcourt starter added 4 stls, 3 assts, 3x6 4s.

With the season winding diwn, any thoughts on All-conference teams??  Here are my picks:

1st team
G-Anthony Williams (POY)
G-Sherod Harris
F-Scott Morton
G-Nick Pierioli
F-Travis Gorham

2nd team
F-Brandon Williams
G-Damon Brown
F-Mike Lewis
C-Jeff Howe
G-Tommy Downing

HM-
G-Mychael Wilkes
G-Ajani Edwards
F-Khylan Hunt
G-Robert Fisk
F-Will Colston
G-Jamar Gray

My Look:

First Team

Travis Gorham (POY) - makes everyone around him better
Anthony Williams
Sherod Harris
Scott Morton
Mike Lewis

Second Team
Brandon Williams
Mahmoud Jabbi (rebounds, scores, play D)
Damon Brown
Nick Perioli
Dion Mozelle

HM
Rob Fisk
Jeff Howe
Khylan Hunt
Dave Golembiowski (ROY)
Mychal Wilkes

SUNYAC coaches in the past have tended to focus on scorers rather than all-around play.  Gorham is a complete D-III post player, he can score, rebound, pass, catch, and even shoot the three.  He averages a double-double and shoots 59% from two point range.  He is glue that holds the team together, he goes and gets Williams' misses and gives the Cards another chance to score.

Not from Potsdam - just beyond the 200 mile limit.

Stupid why games in NYC/NJ/PA (except NYU) don't count as in region.

Any game against a school in NYS or PA is in-region for Potsdam, actually.
