Thanks - That's good (& a recent change), but a lot of New England is closer (230 miles) to Potsdam than the Pennsylvania border and they're out of region.

Don't know why the limit isn't 400 miles, we play in a conference where the longest regualrly scheduled road trip is 401 miles by two lane and 454 by four lane.  Certainly if you're travelling 400 miles each way in your conference, your regional opponents should include teams in that radius.

I think at this stage in the season, the Bears are taking it one game at a time.  As they should.

B/C of tiebreakers. they need a win (or Fredonia loss) to clinch a playoff spot.

Regardless of 6,7, or 8 seed, none will be a treat, 'burgh, 'port & Oswego all tough venues for the visitors.

Plattsburgh & Brockport both undefeated at home this year, while Oswego is 9-2 at Laker Hall (losses to Naz & 'port)

Bears play SUNYIT Friday night, suspect 3's will be launched from all points.

Cards at Cortland, which will be their biggest challenge to a undefeated regular season.

Teams reverse Saturday afternoon.  SUNYAC two games in 20 hours Fri/Sat one of the reasons it's so hard to go undefeated in this conference. No time to recover before the next tip, particularly with 1-2 hour trips Friday after games.

Anthony Williams is the best player in the conference.  If he wants he will be playing somewhere for money next year.  Gorham doesnt seem to work hard all the time.  I know he scores and rebounds but just imagine if he worked hard all the time.

You don't get double doubles in Points and rebounds by conserving energy and not working hard.  Travis isn't a point guard, he HAS to work to get open so he gets the ball. Same with Khylan Hunt.   We used to keep track of another statistic called DEFLECTIONS.  You get one for every time you touch a pass, steal a ball, or make a defensive play that causes the player with the ball to lose it.  Not all steals are created by the player who ends up with the ball.   Blocked shots also count.  I would be willing to guess that Travis and Khylan probably average over 10 deflections each per game.  Just looking at Travis he averages just under 2 blocks a game and 2 steals a game.

Bear,

I think you're being a little cautious in your concern about Fredonia possibly taking a playoff spot away from the Bears. Fredonia won't even make the playoffs. Buffalo St. should take care of that problem on Tuesday night. And the game the Bears need to win is the SUNYIT game on Friday, the 1st of the weekend contests when Potsdam should be fresh and ready. The biggest challenge to the Bears grabbing the sixth seed is Buff. St upsetting Oswego, winning their last three and finishing at 7-9 which would tie Potsdam if the Bears beat SUNYIT and lose to Cortland. The Bengals also hold the tiebreaker over the Bears. Of course the Bears could win both weekend road games and make everything else a moot point.  So far 6 straight games have played out the way I wrote them up back on the 12th of Feb. You gotta have faith, brother!!

And the Bears chances of pulling off an upset in the tournament are much better against Oswego than Plattsburgh or Bport. After all you only lost by 2 down there in November, and if it  had been a little closer at halftime, who knows? You need that 6th seed. So get the guys pumped for Friday night. You need to find Dr. Lou Lagrand and have him give one of his motivational speeches to the team. That would do it!!!

And Bear, no Siskavich for 2 straight games. Will he be playing this weekend? Please tell me the answer is yes. He had a decent game against the Plattsburgh bigs. He'll certainly be needed against Cortland's front line.

Anyone in the corner of a map is going to have anomalies. Why is it that you can drive eight hours one direction and still be in New York, while in another direction you cross five states? :)

He is a very good player but he does not work hard all the time.  As a team they dont work hard all the time.  They are a team that could go a long way in the tournament but  I think they can get picked off because of their effort, they play in spurts.  Miller is the only consistant hard work.

And in one part of the United STates you can stand and touch 4 states in four steps.  ;)

You mean the one where he put his fist [Ouch] through the locker door?

We did have our alumni game this weekend.  'Spoon came back.  (Only two-time D-III POY) guy is 45 years old and 50 pounds above his playing weight, but he can still play with the 20 somethings, shoot the NBA range three, and make a 55 foot bounce pass assist on the break.  Boy I forgot how great that used to be.  Barton, Connelly, & Turner from Elite 8 team were all back, all well on their way to successful careers.

Sorry I've been away from the board for awhile...   Somebody explain to me (like I was a nine year old) to quote Denzel in Philadelphia- how Morrisville can lose in OT to the worst college team I've seen all year - Albany Pharm and then stay within ten of the Lakers.   Man I guess there is parity in d-3 hoops!!?? :o

Basketball is a funny game--It all depends on the night, effort wise, shot selection, defense and mentality of players involved. That's how an Albany Pharm stays with M-ville in D3.

Morrisville gives up about 80 pts per game. Usually resulting in a loss. Most of the good teams they play get up by 20 or 30 and then empty the bench. Lots of garbage time pts. get scored making some games appear closer than they really were. Hoisting up a lot of 3's will also skew the final score. The old live by or die by thing. Not sure in this case but I agree with you those two games  sure make you wonder.

With Central NY refs, as Zola likes to point out, anything is possible.  Although in this case, they won the game for Oswego which made 19 more FT's.  Perioli & Jabbi, probably Oswego's two best players, shot a combined 10 for 34 (ugh!)  Take a lickin & keep chucking.

Turnovers were Oswego 8 Morrisville 21, Fouls were Oswego 25, Oswego 12.  Both smack of referee involvement.

Most college teams don't win shooting 34% (those were the FGA's they weren't fouled on).

Great to hear about Leroy. I used to travel over from Plattsburgh on a regular basis to see the Bears play during those two years. Talk about a guy who could do it all. If D3Hoops was around back then and they had an all decade team he would be near the top of the list. I remember watching him play as a freshman and knew we were seeing something special.
Dr. Lagrand certainly knew how to ratchet up the intensity. Defense was the name of the game with him. If the other team scored 60 points he was not a happy camper. His teams always ranked near the top in pts. allowed.

Got your e-mail and understand. Thanks.

And I think you meant Morrisville 25 and Oswego 12 on those called fouls.
