Great Bulletin Board material Walzy... Not In The Bulb tried that with Potsdam a few years back before we knocked St. John Fisher off.  All four teams made it this far and are obviously doing a lot of things right.  I'll let them play the score out on the court.  Should be two great nights of hoops in the North Country! Have a nice drive up...

Go Cards!

Um, I don't ever remember staunchly supporting Fisher. At anything. Ever. I may have thought they'd win that game. Call me crazy for thinking an undefeated team would win a Sweet 16 game. I mean, I must have really been off my rocker for that thought.

Turns out I was wrong. Ever been wrong, Bear Fan? If not, I recommend it. Gives one a whole new perspective on things.
A 2004 graduate of the "almighty legendary" Ithaca College. Goooooo Bombers.

I've been wrong plenty!  I was just saying that I remember some of your posts as giving some good board fodder for our team... that is all... still entitled to your opinion...love your stuff, big fan... and so is Walzy by the way... entitled to his opinion that is...just making a statement.  :D

Go Cards!

Tried to go back to the old stuff but the information only goes back to right after U of R beat the Bears... remember some good Garbage plate discussions during that time as well...

Driving up from DC would be insane. Unfortunately, I will be one of the internet radio listeners. Should be one hell of a weekend of ball.

Friday's game between Amherst & Richard Stockton is now listed with a start time of 5:30. Apparently You can buy a ticket for either Friday night game, but will need 2 tickets to see both games on Friday as the gym will be cleared after the 1st game.

The Saturday night game has been announced as 7:00.

Walzy,
I think your spreads are a little skewed. Correct line is:

Amherst -11 vs. Richard Stockton

Plattsburgh -3.5 vs Brandeis

"...but will need 2 tickets to see both games on Friday as the gym will be cleared after the 1st game..."

Oh yeah, that will work :).

Scooterman,
I 'll let you know on Sunday night right after they announce the 65 team field. Some of us are good, but we can't read the minds of the NCAA selection committee.

And let me guess, you ran all the way to Florida cause the Port didn't win the SUNYACS.

scooterman

Hey Magic--No, not really, my kids and grandkids live here and my wife wants to be close to them. Anyway, I hope the Burg wins it all, even though the Port is better(LOL). I want a national champion from the SUNYAC's --Then maybe we will get some respect. I still can't believe only 4 teams from NYS are worthy of NCAA bids. Sorry--Go Burg!!!

We already do - Potsdam won 2 in men's basketball, time for the Cards to join that lofty company.

Bear--I know Potsdam won two back in the day but I mean within the last 10 years--The East gets no respect except for the UofR because they play in the UAA--I think you will agree with that--Four teams out of the East--What's with that--

with age comes?

Scooter- I agree that NYS gets very little respect. We do have 2 out of the four teams still in the sweet sixteen.  I've already said that I think the problem with the NY leagues (if you want to call it that) is parity. In the e-8 (or e-9) and SUNYAC the top 5 or 6 teams take turns beating each other (with the exception of the esteemed Cards of course).  In the LL the whole league is competitive with the possible exception of Skidmore.  That being said all the losses mount up while teams like Mass - Dartmouth has a bunch of league opponents that couldn't beat the elite teams in the league with a "beating machine".  Hence a gaudy record, hence a pool bid when I wouldn't be surprised if B-port, Oswego, Cortland & maybe even Geneseo could beat Mass-Dartmouth. Heck ,if I'm right ,I think Mass-Dart got beat twice by a team that lost to New Paltz!!!!

thebear

Yeah - & if you look at the teams the NESCAC plays non-conference, that's why they have such a strong strength of schedule, they beat up on so called "good" teams from weak leagues.  There are so many teams in their region, they can pick & choose who they deem to play.

Most of the teams you mentioned from the SUNYAC are making the effort to beef up their non-conference schedule, but the conference schedule is what it is, and we do tend to devour each other through familiarity, and long tough Friday night/Saturday afternoon road trips.

The stars are aligned for the Cards to make it to the final four, they just have to rely on their senior leadership to get it done.

I think Plattsburgh matches up well with Brandeis.  I think the Cards have the edge in the paint with Gorham, Hunt & Daniyan coming off the bench.  Williams & Miller will be challenged, and again Ruiz will have to produce from the bench.

Cards have to take no prisoners on D, get out on the threes, take care of the ball, and use their athleticism on the boards.  If Brandeis has a weakness, they aren't a great rebounding team. . .Plattsburgh is.
