I, along with over 3,000 other fans watched Hartwick  beat Oneonta State 70-59 in the O-State gym.   Always a great cross-town rivilalry, regardless of the teams records.     Hartwick's freshman point guard, Mark Blazek is a player.   He led all scorers with 23 pts on 8/13 shooting, (3/5 from 3pt range), while playing as a true point guard.   Gives Wick a legit complement  to Cocco.   He could help bring Hartwick up a couple of spots in the E8.  Oneonta has potential, but they have some work to do if they want to compete with the top schools in the SUNYAC.

with age came?

Morrisville will be happy to get out of the SUNYAC (if the rumor is true) because the chances of them winning many games is slim.  Clarkson led 48-33 with about 8 minutes to go and I believe did not score a field goal for the rest of the game and still won 54-52.  Clarkson does play gritty defense which allowed then to survive the desperation 3 at the buzzer by morrisville. Will look forward to seeing Potsdam-Paul Smiths & Clarkson-Keystone this weekend. Potsdam with a good win over Hobart should be fun to watch as the team is Senior laden. I am hoping for a Potsdam - Clarkson final but you have to play the games (though the whole Potsdam team would probably have to have food poisoning to lose to Paul Smiths).  Keystone is an unknown to me. Early observation - to me Ithaca must be for real this year to handle what was touted as a good veteran Cortland team, And who knew that Hartwick might have finally turned into something other than the Cocco show with their victory over Oneonta?  The Blaze N Cocco show perhaps??

Age - couldn't agree more.  It appears the Ithaca Bombers are the "Beast of the East" until someone else steps up.

Keystone is coached by former Clarkson/Potsdam asst Jason Leone.  He has a young squad loaded with first & second year players.  He added diminutive sharp shooter Ryan Luce from JUCO powerhouse Hudson Valley.  Won his opener vs. Delaware Valley.  Different cast of Keystone characters played Bears to a one point game last season in PA.

Can't wait for Friday night, and Zola's impending visit to the 'dam on Saturday.

Be prepared for SUNY Purchase (a non-SUNAC SUNY) to take down New Paltz in the first round of their tournament tomorrow.

I know what you're thinking...Purchase is an arts school that is in it's first year as an official member of the NCAA.  They have historically been awful.

Well, you're right.  But this year, there's a big difference than all the rest - Purchase has a D1 point guard with two D2 wingmen who can fly.  Pay attention to this game tomorrow night - it should wake people up to the new kid on the block.

Oneonta travels to Massachusetts to take on teams at the Gordon College Tip-Off tourney. Good chance for them to play some solid teams.

First game is Friday evening and is followed by the Championship and consolation matches on Saturday.
