Bears defeated undermanned Paul Smiths squad 99-50.  Potsdam, web site is in transition until after the Holidays so stats and box aren't available at the moment.  Bears led at the half 56-32, despite 20 1st half points from Bobcat's Joe Collura.

Paul Smiths only was able to suit up six players.  Dobbs played everyone and emptied the bench with 8 minutes left.

6-10 Potsdam first year Tom Kelso was a force on the boards, and 6-11 redshirt Greg Lothridge had 10 points on 2 huge dunks, and a shades of Jack Sikma (One of the all-time D-III greats) turn around J.  First Year combo guard Olando Minott showed flashes of brilliance, particularly in transition and a burst to the rim.

Bears still a work in progress, but have more assets than the past few years.

Clarkson as always played physical d, against a gritty Keystone squad that never gave up.

Clarkson - Potsdam final tomorrow should be fun to watch.

Potsdam put on a second half surge to pull away from cross town rival and defending Liberty League champion Clarkson by a final tally of 74-62 at Jerry Welsh Gymnasium.

Clarkson came back from 9 down to take a late first half lead before Potsdam tied it at 36 at intermission.

In the second half it was all Potsdam, and the Bears built a working lead by the 10 minute mark, and then threw in a 21-9 surge over the next seven minutes to build a lead that reached 18.

Damon Brown led Potsdam with 17 points, while fellow seniors Alvin Dike and Brandon Siskavich added 15 and 13 respectively.  Siskavich had the edge in play over Clarkson's Elson Pickering, who was held to nine points, and committed four turnovers.

Dike was selected tournament MVP, and Siskavich to the all-tournament team.  They were joined by Brian Salanger & Keth Murray of Clarkson, New Hartford native Michael Evans of Keystone, and point guard Joseph Collura of Paul Smiths.

Potsdam shot 58% for the game, and relied on drives and mid range jump shots as they made 2 of only 3 treys in the game.  Clarkson shot 43%, but a weak 2-11 from beyond the new arc.  Potsdam outrebounded Clarkson 32-23 led by Siskavich with 8, and promising first year Tom Kelso with 5 in 15 minutes.

Potsdam is on Thanksgiving break before resuming action on December 2 in a rematch with Clarkson at Alumni Gym.
The Bears then face a huge early SUNYAC matchup against contenders Geneseo & Brockport on December 5 & 6 at Jerry Welsh Gym.

Unbeaten Fredonia tonight makes run at third straight with home date vs. 2-3 Pitt-Bradford

Conference gets underway Tuesday and several good early matchups on the agenda including Oswego at Geneseo out of the gate. DaBear on Empire 8 top of page 391 lists others. Agree Geneseo leading horse on early nc returns

Being rabid Cortland fan we concur (with Bear's E8 post) RDragons solidifying of pg appears to be a must. Loss of handlers Fish and Schaller proving bigger then expected, we fear. Span well aware of hole going into the season but figured vets like Coston, Niehoff, Miolan could handle by committee. Now Cortlands appear to be searching .....
