Actually, pairings will be Cortland-Fredonia and Oswego-Brockport. For the past couple of years, the seeds are "re-shuffled" after the quarterfinals so that the highest seed plays the lowest seed in the semifinals (similar to what SUNYAC ice hockey does). It wasn't noticeable last year, though, because seeds 1, 2, 3 and 5 won in the opening round. This year, it's noticeable...

Friday at Oswego
#7 Cortland vs. #5 Fredonia, 6 p.m.
#8 Brockport vs. #3 Oswego, 8 p.m.

Saturday - Finals at 4 p.m.

Magic-Sorry so late getting to post but you should have seen me hit the ball on the par 5's on Sunday. I was untouchable!!! I do feel for you but my Eagles are on fire!! Bring on the Fred's--The boys are feeling it---" Just go out and have some fun." The YAC's are up for grabs.  Magic--you are always welcome to come and play some golf. Scooterman

I bet you did pound the ball on Sunday. But no Eagles for the Eagle fan???? ;D  Had a feeling Port was going to do it again tonight. Too bad, but you don't get Fredonia on Friday night. You've owned them this year. Oswego on the other hand has had the Eagles number and that's something you will have to sweat out a bit come this weekend.
But Port is hot right now and Oswego got roughed up 2 weeks ago, 91-61 AT HOME by the team Bport crushed tonight. I'd say the revenge factor is huge, not just because you're 0-2 this year against the Lakers, but remember who it was that ended the Eagles NCAA dream last year. Yep, in last years YAC semifinals Lakers 87-72. Good luck Scooter.

This is stupid, to be honest. Why would you break a two-way tie between Geneseo and Buffalo based on anything but their head-to-head game(s)?

In this case, IMHO Geneseo would agree with you.  They are drawing the hottest team in the league, who just beat them on Saturday, and the Knights were missing their most athletic starter.  Meanwhile Buff State draws a skidding Cortland team.  I'm sure the Knights would have gladly been the #2 seed, as Brockport can beat anyone in the league the way they are playing.

Also Caz, Buff State had a wretched (0-6) start but has been on a roll since the semester break, I think they're 14-4 in their last 20.

Bear.
Certainly were right about Geneseo drawing the hot team in Bport.  Meanwhile Cortland put on the brakes just in time.  jdex a happy camper down in Florida. Be hard pressed to find another conference in the country with an 8,7 5, and 3 seed left  after the 1st round.
Did you get to Oswego to see the game. I listened to most of it on the Bearcast. Nice comeback but 21 down with 11 to play is pretty big hole to dig out of.

Yeah - I was there.  two big turning points as I see it,  Brown gets a wide open layup with 7 secs left in 1H.  Burridge stuffs him, grabs the rebound and outlets to Downing who hits a NBA 3 pointer at the buzzer.  5 point swing there.

Second Half, Bears did a horrible job of defending the post for the first 10 minutes.  Dobbs went to a smaller quicker lineup and gave the Laker fits for most of the rest of the game.  Dike and Clement came to play, but Damon Brown disappeared, probably the worst game of his career.

Z's were hometown Syracuse/Oswego boys, Burridge had four fouls and 8 blocks, at least two of those had contact with the body, no call.  Horrible block charge call inside 2 mins, as bears were pulling to within 5, waved off that hoop, and Clement hits a wide open three, but waved off as zebra calls a hold off the ball, at the same time as the shot goes up.

As I said, gotta love the 'yac, within two baskets of having the top four seeds knocked out.

The way 'port is playing,I don't see anyone beating them.  Who ever wins the 'yac will undoubtedly be first round cannon fodder for probably SLU.

My predictions for the weekend openers in Oswego--Cortland will outlast the Fred's as they are more experienced in the tourney, and Spanny will have the boys jacked and ready to play. My Eagles and Oswego are a tough call. Magic is right about Oswego having the Eagles number and match ups are not in Eagles favor. If they can get some big productive minutes from their role players off the bench and REVENGE FACTOR from last year's debacle in the tourney---THE EAGLES WILL BE IN THE FINALS ON SATURDAY!!!!

Scooter,

That's almost the old "counting your Eagles before they've hatched" thing. :D Good idea that you added the word if to start that last sentence or you might have jinxed your guys. Still, the capital letters on the last part might qualify as a jinx. Might want to go back and modify that before tonight's game. ;)

Fredonia shades Cortland 56-55 on B. Cooper hoop at 0:08 -- last of 22 points. Five lead changes in final 3:12. Freds lead by 13 with just over 8 minutes left. C. Niehoff gives RDragons edge at 3:12. Back and forth we go

jdex

Fredonia leads most of the way. Cortland scoreless first 5', comes back for brief lead and trails 28-23 at intermission. Niehoff (21 pts, 9x21fg, 5 rebs, 3 stls in 40') and P. Oliver provide RDragon lift. B. Cooper counterpunches and L. Smith also delivers big late bucket. Cooper 9x14fg in 40' stint. J. Bryant 11 pts for Freds. Oliver finishes with 15', 7 rebs, 4pf in 24'. W. Coston 5 assts in 16' of Cort duty, scoreless as is J. Miolen

Magic--It's a good thing I didn't read your post until after the game tonight because I probably would have modified it. Anyway the Eagles go 18-20 from the foul line in the last 3 minutes and the role players, Kays,Brooks, G. Williams and Johnson give them huge productive minutes for the VICTORY AND A TRIP TO THE SUNYAC FINALS!!! Wilkes and Harris were very effective with the ball and made some great shots when they were needed. It was a total team effort to beat a very good Oswego squad. I was wrong about the first game. Beating a team 3 times in one season is not an easy task for the Eagles.(Fredonia) They must come to play if they want that NCAA berth!!!!LETS GO EAGLES!!By the way I sucked at golf today but the weather was great.

Brockport wins at Oswego 84-70 and advances to the title game against Fredonia tomorrow afternoon at 4:00 in Oswego. Eagles,(13-14 Overall) led 41-35 at the half and maintained that lead for most of the second half. With seven minutes left, Brockport held a four point lead at 58-54 but scored the next eight points to take a 12-point lead. Oswego cut the lead to six points with 3:01 to play before Brockport went on another 8-0 run to up the lead to 14 and coast to victory. Mychal Wilkes was the game's high scorer leading the Eagles with 21 points 8 boards and 5 steals. 16 of his pts came in the 2nd half. Brockport placed 4 guys in double figures as Shawn Harris netted 14,  Eamon Kays 11 off the bench,  and Joe Clarke added 10. Eagles sure picked a good time to go on their longest winning streak of the season which now stands at 6.

Scooter,

Congratulations, you're getting the thrills a year later than you wanted but what a story the Eagles are turning out to be. Losing Parrish, early in the tear  then Almeida a few games after that really put a hurting on the Eagles. It took a while for the new combinations to jell but in this 6 game winning streak that Port has put together they look like they should have been the top seed and not the 8th seed. To be honest I didn't think they had a snowball's chance in hell of even making the playoffs when they had to finish with Potsdam, Morrisville, Cortland, and Geneseo. I figured 1-3 or 2-2 at best. I'll be rooting for you tomorrow. It is tough to beat a team 3 times in a season, as Oswegp found out tonight, but Port has really handled Fredonia both games. Fred's are well coached and very diciplined, just don't think they match up well with the Eagles. I'll go out in a limb here and predict--- 77-71 Eagles.
Weather was great in the North Country today as well 41 degrees 25-50 MPH winds and rain all day. Lucky us :( >:( (At least it wasn't snow)Last year our local courses opened up on the 16th of April. This year, we got a lot more snow so it will probably be a bit later than that. 8 of my friends are going to Florida next Friday to play for 8 days in a row. One of these years I'll join them.  Hope to catch part of the broadcast tomorrow. Good luck.

Big tip of the lid to Port!!! And to you, Scooterman. Great story to topsy-turvy SUNYAC season. Still trying to figure out just 'What hoppened.' From one game to the next, never able to get a handle on this thing.

But for Bport to lose so much from last season, then lose so much from first semester, and still get things rolling and convincingly drill Geneseo and Oswego -- conference's two best outfits, we thought, and on the road no less, well, just outstanding!

Now, with all that love, tis gotta be the kiss of death today. But we're not gonna bet against the Eagles

Caz Bombers

Brockport up by 9 with 1:09 to go.  Gonna be a double championship for the BPort men and women.

Brockport downs Fredonia 64-59  to win the SUNYAC conference tournament championship. The Eagles are going to the NCAA's. Scooterman is 6 feet off the ground.
Scooter I'm disappointed in the Eagles I had them winning by 6. Congratulations.
RPI upset St. Lawrence today and gets the Automatic Qualifier from the Liberty League. Saints will still get a Pool C bid but Hamilton might lose out now. And Nazareth upset Ithaca to advance to the E8 championship against RIT who beat Utica today.

No regular season champion from the E8, LL or SUNYAC gets a Pool A bid. This will give us at least 5 teams in the NCAA tournament. Last year we only had 3 from those conferences.
