I don't know much about the Golden Eagles team, can someone give me a quick rundown?

jdex

Brockport sinks Tufts 60-55 in UR Palestra fest. Next meets Green Mountain in preset pairings. Eagles 30-21 at half. J. Johnson 20 pts(7x16fg), 3 stls in 30'; B. Williams 12 pts(2x4 3s); J. Zenkel 11 pts (3x5 3s). Just 11 turnovers, shoot 21x48fg, 8x23 3s, 10x16ft, outboarded 41-23 with no Port player more than 3. Tufts 17x48fg, 4x17 3s, 17x23ft in opener. Bport 2-0

Eagles essentially lost top six players from last season, but starters somewhat seasoned including seniors Williams, Zenkel, Johnson. New to that alignment is 6-0, 205 jr swingman F. Lantigua. Extremely guard oriented. Tallest Eagles 6-4 frosh M. Trotter

Some thoughts ....

Buffalo St. of unknown quality heading into tonight's opener vs. Pitt-Bradford in BS tourney that includes Naz/Marietta. Few Bengal names recognizable from '08-09. Exceptions are proven 6-7, 225 A. Samedi, the lone senior, along with 6-6 jr G. Carr and soph guard N. Simmons.

Geneseo highlight reel from last season -- Morton, now playing in England. Lack of his and J. Howe presence quite evident in first game fall. B. Simpson at 6-6 carries heavy load as sr. along with classmate K. Stevens, and 6-2 soph guard M. Hoy whose fr. brother joins Knights. Help might come from 6-3 jr. guard J. Scott, transfer from LIU.

Oswego new coach A. Stockwell had rough debut but should fare well in less than crack YAC. Will rely on 6-7 C. Burridge, last year's rookie of the year. S. Francois a major plus. Couple of fr. to watch: 6-7 B. Nollet and 5-9 H. Ward. Lakers with 10 sophs. Play NJ City U. tonight in OSt tourney after Megar Evers/Morrisville

Plattsburgh a contender with 6-4 jr. C. Ruiz and 6-6 E. Daniyan solid returnees. S. Thomas a jr. out of the gate quickly, and K. Brooks returns following top assist role as fr. JC  transfer C. Munnerlyn a quick study in this program which also has 6-10 260 jr. RJ Ponesse. D. Tangnoy a sr 6-4, 210 regular. Cards host Norwich on Saturday

Cortland slide from grace last season could quickly be forgotten. Powerful returning frontline in 6-6s M. Lewis and P. Oliver have been joined by cast of new shooting guards including J. LaMont, J. Winter and Alfred St. transfer D. Marshall. Much needed firepower showed in opener. Also have vet guard R. Evans. Former starter W. Coston a sr. missing from opener. Ex-sturdy footballer B. Nagle an instant contributor. Dragons vs. Lasell tonight at Williams tourney (Williams/So. Vt)

New Paltz soph veteran trio of H. Wichard, S. Taylor and J. Anderson boosted Hawks to opening win. Taylor and Anderson pair of 6-7s. Believe that win ended 12 game skid at end of last winter. Not with NP for what was expected to be sr seasons are L. Bertram and C. Cornine. Quality assister O. Agyemang on roster but has yet to see action. NP tourney opens tonight vs. St. Joe's (LI) after Bridgewater St./Lehman clash

Oneonta starts tonight vs. tourney host Muhlenberg (Moravian/Wm Paterson). M. Grimes a four year sr. key at 6-4 and partners with 6-9 sr B. Beckford as tough duo. Third year jr S. Gillette fills backcourt slot. Talbot a 6-1 jr. vet. Roster lists several first year juniors and pair of 6-7 fr. Erstwhile Dragon S. Coffey playing in Ireland.

Potsdam puzzle needs to replace many key pieces, departed D. Brown and A. Dike in particular. Sr. A. Williams a sr. swing player with much potential. Jr. E. Cross returns with guard O. Minott, and soph pivot T. Kelso after 7.6 pt., 6.2 reb norms last season. Much expected of FL jr transfer B. Walker. From NYC solid prep play comes J. Lambert. Bears at Clarkson on Saturday

Fredonia's B. Cooper a marked man after whiz of an '08-09. Devils awaiting return of reputed 6-4 jr. J. Bryant and 6-4 sr S. Valenta, plus 6-2 soph S. Doanhue. Cooper's fellow captain K. Saunders, a double digit scorer last season, has been used sparingly so far for whatever. New is 6-5 sr J. Kane; other holdovers J. Herrera, 6-3 sr swing player G. MacBride, A. Billups, K. Mitchell and L. Smith.

See above post for Brockport .......

And the winner is ..............we won't go there, but we still wear Cortland red and white. League a little down?? Perhaps a bit more than that. See some good competition. Outside play thus far has generally failed to impress ........and you?

Cortland St. over Lasell 84-73 in the 1st game of the Williams Invitational. Williams takes on Southern Vermont for the right to face the Red Dragons in tomorrow's Championship game. I expect that will probably be the matchup. Be interesting to see how Cortland fares against one of the better teams in the NESCAC.
