Just got this from a coach at Buff State. They are looking for 1 and possibly 2 games for the upcoming season (late Nov/early Dec). If any of you guys know of a non-Sunyac school looking to come to beautiful Western new york (BENGALS would return the favor, if need be, the following season) let me know!
I know the BENGALS have already posted in the upcoming games section of D3Hoops but I know that there are those of you that wish the BENGALS schedule was tougher. Reach out and touch some teams and see what they say! ;)

P. S. Congrats to Mike Deane!!

They should check with U of R to see about one of their early tournaments.  Unless Buff State only wants to stay at home.

An email has been sent to U of R. Assistant coach Ryan Mee, asking about the possibilty of a game in next season in late Nov/Early Dec (and even a home/away over the next 2 years). If you have any contacts at U of R then maybe you would like to follow up! ;)

My contact graduated in May.  And other than Smalls, the coaches are different than the ones that recruited him.  Although, he played with Jeff Juron and Luke Flockerzi was his recruiter but he left for Skidmore before my son's freshman year.  Sorry.  But I think it would be great for the two teams to play annually.

No problem. U of R coach has gotten back to me with an offer to play in their tourney but no visit to Buffalo Ny the following year. That aint working!!!!!! :o

Thanks to magicman there is a conversation going on  between the BENGALS staff and the Hamilton staff that appears to be gaining momentum.

P.s. Thanks magicman!!!!!!! ;)

Too bad.  Both tournaments usually have pretty good competition. Well, given their travel demands, I don't really blame them for staying home.   Don't they pay for lodging and food?

Well I hope a Buffalo State-Hamilton matchup works out. Glad I could be of assistance. It's 191 miles from campus to campus which equates to a 3 hour bus ride. We do those all the time in the YAC while Hamilton does likewise in the NESCAC and did so when they were in the Liberty League. Plus if you're going to play in their tournament one year and they return the favor the next year by playing in yours, both teams end up with two games in two days, so it becomes an overnighter. If you just play a single alternating home game over the next 2 years it's still not to far for a day trip. The Continentals, with only 10 league games, have lots of room on their schedule for OOC opponents. Buff State, with only 7 OOC games, will gain by replacing Keuka or D'Youville with a program of Hamilton's reputation. It will certainly help both schools in the strength of schedule rating and the regional rankings. Of course it will help the winner more than the loser. ;D

Congrats to Mike Deane, maybe after he goes into the NYS Hall of Fame we can get him to come back north and become the AD/Men's basketball coach to bring us back to the promise land.  Between the Habs and the Bears I'm looking at a long cold winter

Merry Christmas to all the regulars on this board. Hope Santa was good to everyone.

Would be nice if the SUNYAC teams bring back the shiny Baubles and Bling awarded at the various holiday tournaments they will be participating in over the holidays. :)

Thats the plan in D. C.! 3 teams with a combined 27-2 in the Catholic University tourney should leave that winner with a good feeling going into the new year! ;) Hopefully that winner is the BENGALS! :)

Plattsburgh State is the only SUNYAC team in action today as they are in Fort Lauderdale at the Adidas Holiday Slam Tournament, to take on St. Vincent (Pa) from the President's Athletic Conference at 5:30 PM. Manhattenville takes on Messiah in the 2nd game of the day. The two losers will face off tomorrow afternoon at 2 PM in the consolation game, while today's winners will meet for the championship at 4 PM.

St. Vincent comes into today's game with a 7-3 overall record (1-2 in conference play). Nearly all of their 7 wins have come against teams with losing records including woeful Franciscan (0-9) and Westminster (Pa) (2-9). The only team they beat with a winning record was LaRoche (9-2) and LaRoche's 9 wins have all been against teams with losing records, although they do own a win over Ithaca College. All that being said the posted line has St. Vincent's favored by 3 points. The Bearcats haven't played in 12 days while the Cardinals last game was on December 10th. They have had only 1 practice to get ready for today's contest. I can't pick against my Cardinals so I have to hope they're more athletic (which I think they are) and that they 'll win the rebounding war. I expect a turnover filled game after the layoffs so I think the final will be 67-62 in favor of the Cardinals. I need Perez, Fields and Williams to show their stuff today. Go Cards!!!

Plattsburgh State loses to St. Vincents 86-63. The Cardinals showing the effects of their long layoff just ran out of gas. Tight first half found the Cardinals only down 37-36 at the break. No details as there was no audio, video or live stats for the game. Had to call Coach Curle on his cell phone just to get the score and he couldn't talk long as he was waiting for the local newspaper to call him back.

Cardinals will play Manhattenville in the consolation game tomorrow afternoon at 2 PM. Coach Curle said Messiah beat up Manhattenville right from the beginning and that the game was never close. Hopefully we can come home with a split.

Plattsburgh State playing Manhattanville in a game that tipped off at 2 PM. No way of knowing the score of this game until much later as there is no media coverage of any kind. I'm hoping the Cardinals can come home with a win. Game is listed as a pick 'em so I'll take the Cards in a close affair 71-68.

thebear

Pick em is right - Manhattanville 69 Plattsburgh 68. - According to M'ville website.

It's losses like this that doom the 'yac to the middle of the pack nationally.

Invariably a top SUNYAC team will drop one or both games on the North Country trip, which just drives the whole conference into mediocre land.

Thanks for the update Bear. I was just getting ready to call Coach Curle and find out what happened. Came into my office to watch the Buffalo State-Wesleyan game which is on live video. In fact it just came on showing the teams warming up. Watched the end of the Catholic-MCLA game where the host Catholic Cardinals won 85-71. Winner of tonights game will play them for the tourney championship at 4 PM tomorrow.

Buffalo State at 8-1 taking on a 9-1 Wesleyan team that is probably looking at a 4th place finish in the NESCAC league behind the powers of Middlebury, Williams and Amherst.  Game is ready to tip off so I'll make my pick. Oddsmakers have Wesleyan favored by 3 but I'll take the Bengals to win 82-78.

Here's a link to the video broadcast:   http://video.cua.edu/live2.cfm

Wesleyan leads Buffalo State 34-31 at the half. First 10 minutes of the game was a back and forth affair with both teams hitting some good shots and taking care of the ball. Last 10 minutes was extremely sloppy play by both teams with a dozen fouls and 13 turnovers.
Wesleyan ended up with 12 turnovers, while the Bengals had 9. Wesleyan had 14 free throw attempts and fortunately for Buffalo the only made 5. Bengals with only 4 attempts and made 3. Officials called a lot of shooting fouls against the Bengals. Buff St. had a 21-16 lead with 9:21 left in the half but the Cardinals would go on a 9-0 run to grab their largest lead of the period at 25-21. Bengals came back to take a 28-25 edge but were outscored 9-3 in the final 3:29 of the period.  Cardinal's Jason Mendall leads all scorers with 12 pts at the break. Bengals need to get out on him as he has made 3 triples and was wide open all 3 times.

Bengals behind 2 trifectas by Jake Simmons and a jumper by Nico Mclean have opened up a 9 point lead at 71-62 with 3:46 to play in the game.

52 seconds to go and the Bengals with the ball are up 76-72.
