Morrisville State leads Rhode island 62-61 with 15 seconds to go in overtime. Mo State at the line for free throws and they make them both to go up by three. Rhode Island comes down and throws up a 3 point attempt to tie the game but it doesn't go down and the Mustangs get the rebound. Rhode Island fouls with 2 seconds left. Jordan Prior hits both free throws and the Mustangs win 66-61. A big upset as the Mustangs will now go to the round of 16 for the first time in school history.

Jailaan Kinsey of Morrisville hit a big 3 pointer with 26 seconds to go in regulation to tie the game. Rhode Island with plenty of time to go for the game winner had the ball stolen by the Mustangs Rhamel Williams with 6 seconds left.

The Mustangs then came from behind in overtime 3 times and finally took the lead for good on 2 free throws by Prior with 46 seconds to go.  Mustangs' Brandon Hanks promptly stole the ball on the Anchormen's possession and fed Prior for a layup to give them a 62-58 lead with 30 seconds left.. Rhode Island could never catch up.

Wow!! J. Prior a Cortland High School grad who spent the past two seasons at Onondaga CC in Syracuse. The jr guard started five games for M'ville, averaging nearly nine points with 41 3s at a 45 percent success clip. Yeah, surprise, surprise, a Cortland bomber. Another Cortland product with the Mustangs is jr forward T. Wilk

Cortland saw Middlebury finish both halves with more verve, and that closing punch meant curtains for one heckuva RDragons campaign. Down by nine at the half after an all but even opening 17 minutes, Corts quickly made noise in the second period but still trailed by eight with 14:27 left. Rising to over 50 percent shooting from the field, the hosts tied matters at the 10 minute mark and with 8:53 left took a 55-48 lead on K. McMahon's inside 3-point play. Cortland would score just eight points the rest of the way. J. Wolfin struck from beyond the arc on the heels of McMahon, and though the Panthers were certainly no ball of fire themselves coming down the stretch, grabbed the lead on J. Kizel's bucket at 3:28. Thirty-seconds later and reliable Dragon B. Manning connected for three and a 60-58 CSt advantage. Kizel free throws knotted it at 2:31. P. Lynch's inside deuce at 1:42 produced a lead the Midds never relinquished. The margin grew to five at 0:27. L. Herron's triple cut it to two at 0:17. Lynch free throws were the clincher.

Kizel was the brightest of lights in the win with 22 pts(7x12fg, 3x6 3s, 5x6fts. J. Jensen off the bench landed 13 pts(7x7fts), 11 rebs, and Lynch had 10 pts. McMahon posted the game of his career with 24 pts(11x15fg), 11 rebs, 3 assts. J. Winter had 17 pts(5x12fg) and didn't attempt a three. J. Smith experienced tough times in a five point outing (2x12fg, 1x8 3s). Manning posted nine points (3x6fg -- all treys)

Yes, the difference wound up at the FT line -- Midds 17x21, Corts 4x7. Didn't see the contest, but we don't question the contrast. Bigger physically, Panthers probably earned 'em. Otherwise, CSt 26x56fg, Midds 22x51fg. Panthers 34-29 reb edge but near even till late. Few turnovers, Midds 11, Corts 10.

A salute to both ......
.  Correction:  Winter had 12 pts.

Maybe they missed the deadline? Just throwing out the possibilities.

One word... "SHAME". "SHAME" on the ECAC for completely ignoring Jake if he was nominated by his school or "SHAME" on Buffalo State if they missed a deadline for  nominating Jake. One way or another (and I gotta believe that Buffalo State nominated a kid who may be the decorated 4 year basketball player in Buffalo State history). SHAME on who ever is responsible for this slight!

Nuff Said.

As much as I respect Jake, I saw Randy Smith Play and Jake is no Randy Smith!

I Love NY !!!!!

No comparison was made to Randy Smith. You will note (or maybe you missed) that I said Jake is "may be (most) decorated 4 year basketball player player in Buffalo State history" Clearly someone as knowledgeable as you knows about  Randy (who I had the honor to play with twice in the Annual Randy Smith All Star game which was a function every 2nd Saturday at MLK park in BUffalo) did not play 4 years at Buffalo State. Therefore there was no comparison to the most decorated  "4 year basketball player".

I never compare apples to  oranges and, hopefully, we all know the difference.

My statement still stands!! ;)

Congrats to both Cortland and Plattsburgh. Thier success this season bodes well for the future (IMHO) of the 'Yac!!

John Dibartolomeo (Rochester) ends his Career as a Legitimate 1st Team All American and one of the Most decorated players to ever play at A college in The Rochester area. In Rochesters great Basketball tradition and great players.. Guys who have to be in that category are 1994 Player of the Year Scott Fitch (Geneseo) now Fairport High School Boys Basketball Coach. Corey McAdam who carried a Very inexperianced Nazareth team in 2009-2010 and was a 1st Team All American. I was around that Nazareth and understood how good McAdam was. I am very fortunate i was apart of such Great Person and Player in 2009-2010 at Nazareth. Seth Hauben who was a 1st Team All American in 2005 for Rochester.. Johnny D is THE Best player to play in the East Region in the past 2-3 years. Even know Dibartolomeo didnt have nearly his Greatest game in A Yellow Jacket Uniform he his still One of the best Division 3 Players we have seen in the East Region in the last 10 years. The 2 Best Guards to play in the East Region in the last 10 Years are arguably Corey McAdam and John Dibartolomeo. Fans and Players always compare the Greatest Players of there time and its hard to do. Because Scott Fitch, Corey McAdam and John Dibartolomeo are all different players but are Great in there own way.. Good Luck to Johnny D in his future it was a pleasure to watch you play the last 4 years.

Two time All American Anthony Williams, from Plattsburgh State, would have to be on any list of best guards from the East Region in the past 10 years. Rochester fans may remember his jump shot (not a heave) from half court at the buzzer that beat the favored Yellowjackets 61-60 and sent them home early in the 2007 NCAA tourney. Williams' Plattsburgh State teams made 3 consecutive NCAA tournaments. I'll forgive you for leaving him off your list as I relize this was a bit before your time. ;D

It's that time of year when we can choose a player to play in the NABC All Star Game that is taking place in Salem, Va. this year. Last year East Region player Ralph Temgoua from St. Lawrence was voted onto the team. This year one of the players that can be voted onto the team is SUNYAC Player of the Year, forward Hayden Ward from Oswego State. I urge all the visitors to the SUNYAC board to go to the front page of D3hoops and vote for Hayden. He needs our support as he's way behind the current leaders.

Here's the link:  http://d3hoops.com/landing/index?t=1363029315978

The voting only lasts for 2 days so don't wait to cast your vote. Do it now.

with age came?

My bracket is shot and I love it!!  Great season Cards and Dragons!!  Watch out for those Magicman Cards next season if they stay healthy!!   Mo State's and Ithaca's success is tremendous!!!  There can not be too many people with the Mustangs in the Sweet sixteen!!!  Anytime you beat Rochester at home in the "mini-Palestra" it is a sensational achievement!!   Of course the Bomber and Mustang success makes me feel much better about my Knights too (as both of these "charging teams" had losses to Clarkson early in the season.  Reflected glory is small consolation but I'll take what I can! ;)

P.S. Bengalsrule - have to agree with the assestment of Jake's snub, but again what Jake has accomplished transcends awards.  He'll always be first team in my book!!!

with age came?

Magic is right about Hayden Ward.  Labeled him a "beast" the first time I saw him play as a freshman.  Do you know if this a "vote early and often" type of thing or are we each entitled to only one vote?  Because if it's a "vote early and often" type thing like the "Chicago votes of old" I'll be voting alot!!!

with age,
I believe you can vote only once. However if you have multiple computers or devices you can vote once on each device. I have 3 computers so I got to vote 3 times.

I'd venture a guess that of the 288 entries in the Men's D3hoops Brackets Tournament, none of them have Morrisville State in the sweet 16. ;D  Unless somewhere among those entries is a Morrisville State student who was a homer. ??? However seeing that no one from the NEAC conference hardly ever comes on and posts on D3hoops (the last entry on that board was over a year ago and it was mine.) I doubt that anyone from that conference even filled out a brackets sheet. :o

Thanks Buddy for the support of Jake :) and sorry about the U of R snub :-[ vs. Ithaca. You got admit, win or lose, it's gotta be a pretty good year when 2 NYS schools, who are less than 65 miles apart, make it to the "Sweet 16"!! All is well in the EMPIRE STATE!!! ;)

Im voting for Ward tonite (since Jake can't get votes :'( ) and then twice again tommorrow from my work computers (2). :)

Pat Coleman

No idea if Jake needs votes -- gotta figure DiBartolomeo is one of the guys the NABC committee picked from the East. Is the other Simmons or Rossi? And if Rossi advances to Salem, does Simmons replace him?

Mike Deane must still have a little magic left. Deane, the former Potsdam State great, who was out of coaching last year, came back this year as an assistant coach for James Madison. The Dukes are coached by one of his old Siena players, Matt Brady. On Monday night the Dukes, who came in 4th place in the Colonial Athletic Conference during the regular season, defeated the top seed, Northeastern 70-57 to win the automatic bid to the NCAA Division I tournament. It's the 4th different program Mike's been affiliated with that's been to the Big Dance. It's the first time that James Madison has been to the NCAA tournament in 19 years having last went in 1994. I have to believe Mike's association with the program this year had a little something to do with the Dukes getting back to the tournament after such a long absence. 8-)
