You have to admire Buff St. for publicizing this one ......Bengals dropped 91-48 exhibition to D1 UB last Friday.

Certainly little to cheer about if you're Buff St fan. Shoot 15x52fg (5x24 1st half), 1x11 3s. Down 43-23 at half. D.J. Nubine-Mitchell, 6-4 jr guard from CA sees most minutes (25) and shoots 1x6fg, 2 pts, 3 stls. I. Skylark in 20' is 0x8fg, 2 pts; D. Mozelle 2 pts in 22', 6-6 sr. D. Griggs 0 pts, 4pf in 8', C. Hepburn 0 pts. (0x3fg)) in 9', 6-7 NYC frosh A. Samedi 10 pts (6x8ft) in 22', K. Wood 5x5fg, 4 reb. in 18'.  Bulls 35x65fg

Potsdam plays a nonleague game last night against Algonquin College of CAnada. Algonquin was strong at guard, not much for big men. Brandon Siskavich and Tim Reinhart were both impressive on the boards and running the court for Potsdam. Scott Mitchell played another steady game at the point, making the perfect pass at all the right times. Team will be deaper this year as last year's group of freshman have gained confidence. New kid out of Syracuse looks like he'll be a contributor by midseason.

Potsdam doesn't have any new kids from Syracuse. They do have a juco transfer by the name of Jeff Riker that went to school at OCC, but he is from Dryden. Another player for them is Anthony Williams, a solid combo guard from Long Island. I would imagine those are the two players you are talking about.

BBM

Yes, Jeff Riker is the player that I was referring to. Anthony plays with lots of confidence but just didn't seem to be able to finish. I certainly shouldn't judge him much on his 8 or 9 minutes though.

Cortland in home Sunday workout vs. Nazareth and gives positive showing. Better than against Hobart, and that wasn't bad. This team can shoot. Maggiacomo unconscious along with Jutton. CState by 10 at half and 15 through 40'. Jr. 6-8, 260 J. Sargent opens at center and does well. Jr. 6-5 swingman M. Jankiewicz quite visible in all facets. Another '3' threat. Certainly hold their own off boards. Frosh 6-6 M. Lewis a comer, and 6-6, 255 frosh P. Oliver sees first competitive action.
Cortland has numbers. Down the liners simply trample Naz counterparts. Frosh guard W. Coston quite the spark.
Naz expected to contend in E8. Frosh guard C. McAdam  an eyeful. Jr. bro R. McAdam injured and didn't play. Last season's scoring whiz J. Canori has tough day

slickyquick

It looks like Cortland will be living and dying by the 3 this year. Quite unusual for a Spanbauer team. I guess you have to adjust to the players that he has. When he had Tom Williams, it was set Tom screens and let him go to work. Then it was onto Hi-Lo game with the bigs. And the past couple of years it has been spread them out penetrate and pitch. We'll see how the rest of the SUNYAC adjusts to this.

cstate19

just stopping by...........still active on the football boards

Can anyone give a report on Brockport?  I am far removed from that and the Brockport Athletics site won't give you any info.

slickyquick

Brockport loses a ton of scoring from last year's team. They do get Brandon Williams and Shaun Harris back for a year's suspension because of questionable administrative decisions. They also get a couple of guys like Bobby Brooks and Dave Maldonoldo back from injuries. They jury is out on who else they brought in. I heard they have a couple of players that are older and should help with their old man strength. I do believe that both Williams and Harris can't play in the first couple of games, but I'm not sure. They do have Dan Rubertone and his toughness around the basket, along with Mychal Wilkes and his 3 point shooting. Any other reports from them? I know they usually scrimmage a host of Rochester area schools.

jbl2006

Anybody know what happened with Rother?  I thought he had another year left?

pg04

slickyquick

Last I knew Rother was transferring to Salisbury. I haven't checked their roster but that was the news at the end of last year. I don't think Whitmore was going to welcome him and his attitude back.

slickyquick

I just checked and Rother is not on their roster either. Not sure of his whereabouts. Either way it would be 4 different schools for college. Cortland, MCC, Brockport, and ?????

30 minutes to tip time for SUNYAC .....

Veteran Geneseo faces Lake Erie at 1 in Rochester tourney opener (UR/Ithaca at 8)

Plattsburgh in 5:30 test vs. always rugged Conn College in Rutgers-Newark tourney (R-N/PS-Abington)

Much improved (we think) Oneonta at 6 vs. VA's Averett (20-8 last winter) in Wash&Lee tourney (W&L/Denison)

SUNYIT at 6 vs. Keuka in Utica Coll tourney (UC/PSmiths)

Potsdam hosts tonight vs. Green Mtn (Castleton/Clarkson)

Buff St. hosting tonight vs. Clark at 8 (Fisher/Pt Park)

Brockport tourney tonight has Eagles vs. Oberlin (PittBradford/St.Larry). Meets PB Saturday in preset pairings (?)

Fredonia vs. Keystone St. in Naz tourney tonight

Oswego (Perioli on roster) tourney host tonight at 8 vs. Caz (Purchase/Lehman)

As for Rother, was seen at Cortland/Naz scrimmage last weekend at CState. Attitude, eh? Corts wouldn't know anythng about that, he said cynically.
And, Cortland opener on Saturday vs. CCNY will be played at NYC's Lehman College at 1
