I watched most of the game on video and I agree with you. There were times I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Some odd shot choices and the turnover fumbling the ball out of bounds in the last minute was tough. I also questioned a bit running the clock to 15, then getting a 2 with 9 seconds left. I get the strategy but it seemed like they wasted too much time. Then it seemed like their final shot was haphazard given the lack of time. Anyway...

Oswego got the turnover bug as well, being pressed full court they had 14 turnovers in the first half. Luckily they were able to go on a couple of runs...

I am optimistic of the possibilities of 2 teams in the Sweet 16.

Cortland has the "harder" challenge based on ranking having to play at Amherst. But they got quite a scare, needing to win in the final minute over Husson.

Oswego plays Cinderella Gwynedd-Mercy who were able to upend host Marietta much to the dismay of the home fans (again in the final moments). Oswego was on fire for parts of their game and I hope the momentum continues!

The good news for pg04 is that Kyle Richardson had a huge game for Plattsburgh tonight that gave you 49 fantasy points in the NCAA Tournament Draft League. The bad news is that he will give you no more points since they lost.

I got 46 fantasy points from Brian Sortino and he lives to play another day. There is no way I would have drafted Sortino if I had Richardson on my team. So the fact that you drafted Kyle before I could draft him and then you felt bad because you found out that I wanted him...that will end up gaining me a bunch more points than if I had Kyle on my team. So I just wanted to thank you for drafting him before I could. :D

Plattsburgh loses 84-81 and I'm depressed about it!

If you're depressed about it imagine how the magicman feels.  :( >:( :P :'(

The Cardinals laid an egg tonight. Losing Jon Patron, their 2nd leading scorer and rebounder, for the rest of the season, was a huge blow to Plattsburgh. The Cardinals still should have won this game. They were the better team but they made poor decisions at crucial times. When you out-rebound the opposition 46-32 you usually win the game. 19 turnovers that resulted in 25 points will counter the rebound advantage in a hurry.

Thanks for the congrats and condolences from 2 super SUNYAC fans as well.

Bengalsrule did you get the email I sent you this morning and did it fill the bill?

Indeed.  Couldn't have come at a better time. Yesterday was really crazy. Buff State team is being honored today at a pre game ceremony of the Buffalo 716 ers (semi pro team that jake Simmons, Glenroy Carr and Larry rivers on).  Part of a rememberance in honor of Bradley Doyley ( gonna be tough on the boys...again).  Helping coaches players get ready for that!

You may have mentioned it earlier and I just missed it....but what happened to Patron?

Something tells me that because of season long performances like the Cards and others in the Yac, 3 bids should be the norm for the foreseeable future.  Give you a call later on today. Again thanks for the quick email ( made me look like I REALLY keep up with all this stuff...enough to said).  Talk to you soon "uncle" magic!

Magicman I was a jinx to 3 pod hosts and an undefeated team. With only 4 players remaining Due to upsets, I don't hold out much hope!

Yeah, you were and I'm personally holding you responsible for my Cardinals losing. All my magic couldn't overcome your jinx. ??? I must be getting old....actually I am getting old. :P

I'll let you know on Monday how you can make it up to me. Stay tuned to this board. ;)

I thought the Plattsburgh game looked a lot like the Oswego @ Plattsburgh regular season game earlier in the year.  There was a stretch where Fitchburg either drained a 3 or walked in for a layup.  Defense completely deserted the Cards for a significant stretch.  They also had several careless unforced turnovers, especially late.  Finally, why run the clock all the way down to 15 seconds, call timeout, then take a two point shot?

It was a very frustrating end to a very exciting season.

DUN DUN DUN!!!

Anyway, Magicman, are you going to the game between J&W and Fitchburg? Should be an entertaining one at least. Maybe I'll catch a glimpse of you.  ;D

I will be in attendance at that game. I will be silver bearded guy sitting up high on the very top row behind the J&W bench wearing a reddish Saratoga hat. They seldom flash the camera in that direction though.

That's usually my position at a basketball game (given that I have a choice where to sit). Go all the way back. Yeah if you aren't on the opposite side of the camera I likely won't catch a glimpse.

Saturday's games on Tap

Oswego State vs Gwynedd Mercy   at Marietta 7:00 PM

The Lakers may have caught a break with the Griffins taking down the host team Marietta last night. Oswego may have a height advantage over the Griffins and will have a distinct advantage with their 3 point shooting, I think. Oswego's taller guards should be able to get their shots off without  a hand in the face (with Sortino a hand in the face doesn't matter anyhow) The Griffins are 3 point underdogs in this one and I think that the Lakers could win by a larger margin. Oswego wins a shootout  88-81.

Cortland State  at  Amherst   7:00 PM

It seems like the SUNYAC teams always have to go to Amherst. This is the 3rd time in 4 years that a YAC team has went there. We also don't have much luck there. I'm hoping the Red Dragons can change our luck tonight. Cortland matches up fairly well with the team formerly known as the Lord Jeffs. Both teams like to hoist em up from long distance. Amherst has made more 3's than the Red Dragons and that's probably the first time all year you could say that. (Oswego has 267 with 15 last night. Cortland has 268 with 9 last night) Amherst has made 290 triples for the season.

Cortland also won't give up much height to the Lord Jeffs and they don't appear to have their usual long bench as they only used 8 players in last nights extremely close 74-72 win over Husson, a team from one of the weakest conferences in the country.

The oddsmakers have made Amherst an 8 point favorite in this game and they will probably win on their home court but I'm going to predict the upset here since I want to root for the SUNYAC team. Here's hoping Blair, TJ, RJ, Carrell, and the rest of the guys can get the job done. Final score Cortland 77 Amherst 75.

Off to see Johnson and Wales take down Fitchburg State by an 83 to 75 final score.

Magicman, You must not be a hockey fan. You could have chosen to watch Plattsburgh vs. Geneseo SUNYAC final. I'm partial to hockey myself but Brockport has never been good.

pg04

Oswego leads 49-41 at the half.

Cortland trails Amherst 34-30 at the half but is playing tough.

Cortland goes up 64-58 at 5:45. Amherst answers inside to cut the margin to four at 5:27. C. Joseph, B. Estarfaa, J. Morales and JP Reagan ignite RDragons  .....Joseph 5x10 3s

Yes, Cortland hanging around despite 11x31fg, 5x18 3s in first half. Amherst starts fast and winds up 13x28fg, 5x16 3s. Hosts' size creating problems for the RDragons whose dribble drives being taken away to a large extent. Pretty much have to get more consistent from the arc. Amherst on a couple of occasions looked ready to pull away with double figure leads. Corts stay in the game with plenty of bodies. JP Reagan in particular being neutralize

pg04

Oswego has had their lead reduced to two and now Cortland leads by four with approximately 10 mins left in both. Go teams!
