QuoteOutstanding..again!!  Heck its the first time that I have taken a look at Eastern Conns record this year (2017). I see your boys at Keene State are their only blemish since 12/18!  i imagine that the 2/15 game will be for the LEC regular season title??  Good luck and keep it up with these little surprises!!

Here's another surprise for you (I'm at it again  ;))...I figured this would be useful going down the stretch.  The standings as of now:

Very very very helpful.  We all know that tiebreakers are the milk to the SUNYAC cereal!  You may want to copyright these documents.  There have been some folks who have been known to ....... never mind!  This last display may be the most helpful with 16 days left in regular season!!

All-Time

Just looked at this weekends schedule.

Magicmans Cardinals have a BIG weekend coming up. I know the Magicman is getting his Magic potion and Magic Wand ready.
This is the time to separate the boys from the Men for the Cardinals. They are at Cortland tonight and Oswego tomorrow.
If they have any chance to get into the playoffs this is the weekend for them to come up BIG.

I wish them the BEST of LUCK. ;)

All-Time

5 games on Tap tonight.
3 of the Games look to be Featured Games of the evening.

I'm taking the Plattsburgh Cardinals over the Red Dragons of Cortland.
Both teams had big wins last weekend and are playing well.
I think the Cardinals are starting to get their Swagger Back. Look for Jon Patron to have another Big Night.
Plattsburgh in a close one.

Geneseo vs Brockport at Brockport. Does anyone ever get a win in Brockport.
They are a very tough team at home. They will also be looking to get revenge on the Knights after getting beat up pretty bad in Geneseo the last time they played.
Brockport by double digits.

Fredonia all over New Paltz
Oswego all over Potsdam

Buffalo State at Oneonta.
The Red Dragons will look to get their own revenge on the Bengals tonight at Dewar arena.
The Red Dragons are home for the last 6 games of the season.
Look for McElroy, Coleman and Kelly to come up big tonight with a little home cooking to get the win.

Enjoy the Games

Feb. 3  All ten teams in action tonight with 3 big games among playoff teams and playoff hopefuls

Buffalo State  at  Oneonta State        5:30 PM  Big Game #1

The Red Dragons are looking for revenge after dropping a close one in Buffalo 2 weeks ago. That game was tied at 90 with 1:43 to play when the Bengals got  pair of free throws from Nico McLean, and then after Oneonta came up empty, a huge 3 pointer from Mike Henry to give them some breathing room with only 42 seconds left. They hit their free throws down the stretch and won going away by a 101-94 final but the game was closer than the score indicated. It was the 3rd straight win by the Bengals who have won 8 of the past 11 meetings. Oneonta is currently in sole possession of 3rd place and needs a win to hang onto that position and stay ahead of Cortland. They still have hopes of gaining the top seed. Buffalo State occupies the 6th and final playoff spot with a rejuvenated Plattsburgh State team, winners of 4 straight conference games, breathing down their necks.

The oddsmakers have made the Bengals a slim 1 point road favorite in this game. It should once again come down to the final minutes of play but this time the Red Dragons eke out a win. Oneonta 89 Buffalo State 86

Potsdam State  at  Oswego State        5:30 PM

This may not be a game that has conference standing implications (although if Oswego gets upset that will have implications) but it is a big game for the Bears. A win here would make their year. This is kind of like their Superbowl and taking down the conference leaders would be a positive building point for next season. Somewhere among their final 6 games the Bears need to find another win (2 would be even better) which would equal their total wins (3) in the past 2 years. Oswego, having won their big battle with Brockport last Friday, to capture sole possession of first place, then got a little more space between the Golden Eagles and themselves, when travel partner, Cortland, took down Brockport the very next night.

The Lakers are big favorites in this game and will most likely win the game, to spoil any chances of a Potsdam upset. The oddsmakers have made them a 23 point favorite. The Bears were only down by 11 points with under 2 minutes to play, in their last meeting, though, and could cover the spread. Oswego 88 Potsdam 68.

Fredonia  State  at  New Paltz State        5:30 PM

The Blue Devils have lost 3 in a row since they have been without Ian Helps. If he doesn't play tonight the Hawks may get their first conference victory. The oddsmakers have Fredonia favored by 12 points, but they think Helps will be in the lineup. I don't think it matters as Fredonia should get the win either way. The Hawks could cover the spread though. Fredonia 74 New Paltz 66.

Geneseo State  at  Brockport State        5:30 PM  Big Game  #2

The Knights are scrambling to stay ahead of Buff State but they have a tougher schedule down the stretch, beginning with tonight's game at Bockport. They beat the Golden Eagles in Geneseo by 20 points, in the midst of a 6 game winning streak that found them with a 5-1 conference record and in first place in the YAC. Since then they have went 2-5 in conference games and are in 5th place. The Golden Eagles are undefeated at home with a 7-0 record and coming off a lost weekend to central New York. They have dropped a game and a half behind Oswego for the top seed and will need to beat their travel partners tonight to avoid falling further behind.

The oddsmakers have made the Golden Eagles a 5 point favorite in this one. That sounds about right. Brockport keeps that home unbeaten streak alive with an 87-82 win over the Knights.

Plattsburgh State     at  Cortland State        5:30 PM  Big Game #3

Can you say life support? Because that's what the Cardinals are on. And they are on the road for two tough games this weekend to make things even worse. I've had to invoke the help of every magician, prestidigitator, oracle and escape artist I've ever known in my many past lifetimes. So the Oracle at Delphi, Merlin, Nostradamus, Rasputin, Houdini, and David Copperfield have been brought into play here to get my Cardinals a win. I even sent some messages up to that big Magicman in the heavens, who has divine power, to shine a little of that light on the Cardinals this weekend.

Cortland sits in 4th place right now and still has hopes for a first round bye. The top seed isn't out of the question. They handled Plattsburgh in the Burgh last month with a barrage of 3 pointers from 6 different players. They also were one of the few teams to beat the Cardinals off the board.

Plattsburgh is on a 4 game win streak since they stumbled badly with a decades long 8 game losing streak. The oddsmakers have made the Red Dragons a solid 5 point favorite in this one. I as usual am taking my Cardinals to pull an upset here by a final score of 81-77.

The Red Dragons broke up a tight game by opening the 2nd half with a 14-3 run to go in front by double digits at 58-47. The Bengals never got closer than 10 points after that.

Mikey McElroy with a team high 32 points for the Red Dragons. Lawrence Coleman had 25 points and Frankie Kelly had a double-double with 18 points and 14 assists. Jack Kolosky had a game high 9 rebounds and 8 points.

Oswego State 93  Potsdam State 60

The Bears trailed 10-9 after 5 minutes of play. 4 minutes later it was 25-11 and the Lakers were never threatened. Down by 17 points 41-24, at the break, the Bears kept it within shouting distance for the early part of the 2nd half. They were as close as 12 points at 43-31, but it quickly became yelling distance as the Lakers went on another 10-2 run and the lead was now 20 points at 53-33. The Bears never got closer than 14 points and that happened briefly with 11:33 left to play. The Lakers quickly went back up by 20 and stretched it to a game high 33 on their final possession.

Jamir Ferebee had a game high 21 points. Brian Sortino had 16 points and 5 assists. Mykelle Krecko had a game high 15 rebounds.

The Bears got a team high 16 points from point guard Danny Delsol-Lowry. He also had a team high 7 rebounds and a game high 4 steals.

Nosa Onabor had 12 points and 6 boards. Serigne Kane and Dante Langley both had 10 points.

The Bears didn't shoot the ball very well especially from long range making only 2 of 14 shots. Oswego hit 9 of 21 from behind the arc.

Fredonia State 65  New Paltz State 61

The Blue Devils welcomed back Ian Helps who helped them win with a game high 17 points. The Hawks had an 11 point lead with 6 minutes to go in the first half and still had the lead at 50-48 with 6:39 left to play. The Blue Devils took the lead after that and were never headed.

Dante Williams with 16 points and Richard De La Cruz with 12 for Fredonia. Williams had a double-double as he grabbed a game high 12 rebounds.

The Hawks were led by Dylan Balducci with 15 points, James Saunders with 14 points and Andrew Seniuk with 13 points. Seniuk led the team with 8 rebounds.

Brockport State 98  Geneseo State 79

The Golden Eagles trailed the Knights 35-34 with 2:15 left in the first half, but went on a 10-2 run to head into the break up 44-37. They never trailed the rest of the game. The Knights were down 12 points at 68-56 after back to back 3 pointers from Brockport's Hamed Shamseldin and Devonn Gavin with 11:42 left to play. Geneseo then put together a 12-2 run, fueled by 7 points from Justin Ringen, to close within 2 points at 70-68 and when Gavin scored for the Eagles to make it a 2 possession game, another Ringen layup narrowed the gap again. That was the last time the Knights would be close, however, as Brockport quickly exploded for 11 straight points to open up a 13 point lead with 4:41 left to play. Brockport's lead only got larger as they made 4 layups and hit 7 of 8 from the line, in the final minutes.

Hamed Shamseldin led the Golden Eagles with 25 points, 7 assists, a game high 6 rebounds and 3 steals.
Devonn Gavin had 20 points, 6 assists and a game high 6 rebounds in 29 minutes off the bench.
Matthew Smith had 13 points, 4 assists, 3 rebounds and 2 steals.
Marcus Blythers had 11 points, a game high 6 rebounds, 4 steals, 2 blocks and 1 assist.
Cliton Lyerly had 11 points, 5 rebounds, and a block.

Justin Ringen had a game high 32 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals.
John Decker had 20 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal.
Jack Eisenberg also had a game high 6 rebounds, 5 points, 3 assists and a steal.

Not often that a team outshoots Geneseo from behind the arc but Brockport was 12x25 from long distance. The Knights were 9x25.

Cortland State 80  Plattsburgh State 59

The Red Dragons have the Cardinals number this year, more so than any other team in the conference. Plattsburgh fell behind early in this contest and trailed by multiple possessions 5 minutes into the game. They got down by 9 at 23-14, then fought back to close within 2 points at 23-21 on a 3 pointer by Eli Bryant. Cortland outscored them 9-2 and the lead was back up to 9 points. It grew to 12 points before another 3 pointer by Bryant  made the halftime score 41-32.

The teams traded baskets early in the 2nd period but Cortland opened up a 15 point lead and the Cardinals could never get close enough to threaten the Red Dragon comfort margin. Several times Plattsburgh got it to single digits only to have Cortland respond with an answer. The last time Plattsburgh had a chance was after Bryant hit his final 3 pointer to make it 68-58 with 5 minutes to play. Cortland outscored them 12-1 in the final stretch to win going away.

Plattsburgh had 16 turnovers to only 6 for Cortland. The Cards made 6 from behind the arc while Cortland made 8.

Cortland was led by a game high 23 points from Justin Cooper. He had 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals.
Zach Lydon had 17 points, 5 steals, 4 rebounds, 3 blocks nd 2 assists.
James Morales had 9 points, 4 assists and a steal.
Michael Kelly had 8 points, 5 assists, 3 rebounds and 2 steals.

Eli Bryant led the Cardinals with 20 points, 5 rebounds, and 1 assist.
Jon Patron had 19 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists.
Isaiah Hill had 11 points, 4 rebounds and 2 blocks.
Chris Middleton had a game high 10 rebounds and 4 assists.
