Oswego breaks into the poll this week at #25. They host Geneseo tomorrow and go to Cortland on Saturday.

Still mystified why RPI, which lost by 13 on a neutral court to Oswego is ranked ahead of them.

Rensselaer was missing 2 starters, but so was Oswego, including their point guard!

Rensselaer schedule according to Massey is an average of 264, Oswego an average of 219

According to Matt Snyder, Rensselaer Schedule is an average of 216 Oswego is 212

Rensselaer has a 1 pt win over Nazareth, which beat Oswego by 2.

The selection committee is going to have an interesting discussion I'm sure about the significance of that RPI-Oswego outcome.

I've had Oswego ahead of RPI for a long time, but I think it's largely momentum. RPI started ranked, Oswego didn't. It's an explanation, not an excuse.

Oswego had a statement win at Laker Hall last night.

Geneseo visited the Lakers with a 6-0 SUNYAC record to face Oswego who had won all 7 of their conference games.

If it was a boxing match they would have stopped it.

Lakers ran off an 8-0 run between the 17:00 and 14:00 mark of the first half, and extended from there.

Lakers led at the half 38-22 and extended to a 88-63 final margin.

Julien Crittenden led Lakers, coming off the bench to score 18 points.

Michael Gannon had game honors with 19 points and 11 rebounds for the Knights.

Lakers have all their players back in the lineup.  They have now won 10 straight.

Luckily, the NCAA selection committee doesn't care about the D3hoops poll.

Rare SUNYAC Sunday games due to Covid and Western NY Weather.

Matt Aebersold hits a 3 pointer with :01 left to give Fredonia  76-75 win at Plattsburgh, Newcomer Aaron Collins had another strong performance with 23 points.  Aebersold from Geneva Switzerland was a spot performer this season, but came off the bench to hit 5 of 8 treys in 23 minutes to score 17 points including the winner.

Potsdam found itself in an early deficit, as Buffalo State made 4 treys, a three point play, another trey to take an early 18-7 lead 5 minutes into the game.

Bears clawed back to even at 30-30 with 5 minutes left, then Buffalo State extended to a 40-35 halftime lead.

Buffalo State maintained a single digit margin until just under 13 minutes left.

Potsdam went on a 16-1 run until 7:24 left to establish a 62-52 lead.

Buffalo State closed to within 5 but a 3 pointer by big Tyrese Baptiste with 3 minutes left put the Bears up by 11 and that was the final margin 77-66.

Potsdam held Buffalo State to 26 points in the second half.

Baptiste had a strong night with 26 points and 8 rebounds on 10/15 FGA for those of you who have him in fantasy.

He also held Buffalo State's 6-8 Philbert Weekes, also among the nation's rebounding leaders (13 rpg) to 4 points and 7 rebounds in 26 minutes.

Amazingly Buff State was 9-19 from the arc, while Potsdam had only Baptiste's long range goal in 13 tries.

My Eagles are in a funk. It looks like the SUNYAC's has a lot of parity. Oswego is the best team in the league without much real competition at this point. Geneseo, NP, Oneonta and Brockport are middle tier with Cortland just a notch below. Fredonia, Buffalo St. and Plattsburg St. seem to be at the bottom tier. We are only at mid-season so things can surely change and probably will. Let's go Eagles!!!!!

scooterman

I want to apologize to "the Bear" for unintentionally leaving out Potsdam. I would definitely put them in that middle tier with their record. Sorry for the misstep. Let's see how the 2nd half of season plays out. Does Oswego run away with regular season and playoffs or will someone else step forward and put some pressure on them!!!!

Notable stat from tonight's SUNYAC action.  New Paltz leads Cortland 42-40 at the half.  for those who have him in fantasy, Cortland's Austin Grunder has 25 points at the half.

Potsdam now finding themselves tied for 4th place in the SUNYAC.  They're stringing wins together and beat a good Geneseo squad tonight without Brandon Segar.   Good test for them tomorrow against Brockport.

A very solid weekend of basketball for my Eagles beating Plattsburgh by 30 and a very good Potsdam team by 20. Consistency is the next step for my squad. The Lakers are still in the driver's seat and blasted a good NP squad on Saturday. Let's start gearing up for the stretch run!!! Go Eagles!!!

hell of a win for New Paltz over Oswego last night. The Hawks have come a long, long way from those 1-win seasons.
