Great shot stories aside, the fact that Morton had the whole nation talking about the YAC is a great thing for the conference.  What made it special for me was not the shot alone, but as other have already pointed out, the sequence of events that led to it actually occurring. Great game that showed both teams leaving it all on the floor... a testament to D 3 athletics!

Happy Holidays to all... the conference schedule can't get back under way soon enough!

I guess what it comes down to for me is the definition of amazing. A perfect form jump shot from 45 feet to win a game is a great shot but for me an amazing shot has to have a mystical element like Morton's.  Flicking a shot over your shoulder with .1 on the clock while imitating superman.  I would venture to guess that on any given night maybe a dozen high school games are decided on a last shot heave facing the basket from beyond 30 feet but I would probably doubt many are decided by a shot like Morton's or we would have seen it on ESPN already. ;D

Good point.

Joyless season continues for Buffalo St., still winless on heels of close losses to Oglethorpe (73-70) and Catholic (77-75) in Atlanta on 12/19-20. Round robin format. J. Tyndal all-tourney, gets 17 pts, 4 reb, 4 assts vs. 8-2 host Oglethorpe. A. Samedi 12 pts; J. Gray 10 pts; A. Speed 10 pts. BS down 32-30 at half, up 59-58 at 5'. Hits 32x64fg, but just 2x7ft to winning Petrels 14x20ft.
BS makes good run at 8-2 Catholic. Challenges late after 36-31 halftime hole. Again 32x64fg but again sunk at ft line. Bengals 7x14 to Catholics 19x31. Very uncharitable event for  BS. J. Gray 22 pts(10x24fg), 6 rebs, 5 assts; Tyndal 19 pts(7x14fg), 4 rebs, 3 assts

Morrisville's winless Mustangs fare better. They're ppd. vs. Mount St. Vincent!

Just watched the ESPN recap of 2008 and I have to give credit where credit is due.  They ranked the Scott Morton  flick number 5.  At least it didn't finish ahead of the Eli to Tyree pass(number 2)!

with age came?

jdex - 2 funny ...  morale boost by a postponment... go 'stangs - win your next 1. Really cool about Morton's shot.

Does anyone want to take bets on how badly NYU will beat New Paltz tonight?  I am going to go out on a limb and say 35...I'll also bet that you will see a New Paltz full time-out within the first two minutes of the game.  However, if I am wrong, I will guarantee that the New Paltz starting 5 will play all 40minutes (Assuming that dopey looking forward stays out of foul trouble).

Not so fast ........it may indeed turn out that way BUT  ......something to chew on ......

New Paltz on Monday beat (88-76) Wheaton, Mass. team that's 6-3 with wins over Salem St. and Conn. College, and recent narrow loss to Bridgewater (via major comeback route). NP had five in double figures: H. Wichard 15, S. Jenkins 14, J. Anderson 13, L. Bertram 13 (6 reb), M. Hauser 13 (6 reb). Hawks by 42-33 at half.

Tourney host NYU downed 4-2 Rivier, NH 76-62. Rivier scored early season win over respected Colby-Sawyer

Shaq you usually say good things about New Paltz.  What did they do? kill your cat!!!  This NP team is not the same team as old.  They actually have talented players.  Look at the stats, they have two freshmen as their leading scorers and a third starting playing over 20 minutes a game.  It is not easy to win with freshmen anywhere especially the SUNYAC which is very competitive.  They may make a run to the top half of the league this year.

New Paltz looks better this year, but I'm officially skeptical of NYU. Not so sure they're the #2 team in the region right now, even with their undefeated record. Interested to see what happens when they play Oneonta on 1/6.
A 2004 graduate of the "almighty legendary" Ithaca College. Goooooo Bombers.

RDragons up 36-32 at half and rally from five back to tie at 64 in reg.

Saw via video stream .........Cortland slow, plodding team because of size .....runs sets without a lot of steady ballhandlers. Little penetrating. And where the heck is Carson Niehoff this season???? Simply looks lost
