jdex,

Those scores along with the Plattsburgh-Oneonta score certainly tightened up the conference. Could be more of the same tomorrow night. Possibility that the Lakers could be all alone in 1st after this weekend.

Yeah, parity has come ...... but mediocre parity at best. Looks like you get the Paltz and Oneontas out of their gyms and they join the pack. And, yes, Oswego sure looks like certain contender to thee, along with Geneseo. Fredonia could be right there, too, and Potsdam (?).

As for my Cortlands .....ugh!!!! Not a very athletic team .....doesn't shoot well either from field or ft stripe. Suspect ballhandling. Anything else? Methinks Span prefers smaller team. Wow, a team that's too big, or at least that's its strength. Lewis now coming off bench. Got 9' yesterday.

Noted NP Hawks also without Taylor.  Injuries ? Academics?  NP scored some impressive early conference wins, then travel north without their top two scorers?

Think the 'yac is wide open and will come down to the wire.

Just back from the Plattsburgh-New Paltz game played at Memorial Hall in Plattsburgh. Both teams started slowly with back and forth play before Plattsburgh opened up an 8 pt lead 21-13 at 9:46 of the 1st half. New Paltz came back to tie it at 24 with 5:04 left only to see the Cards open up a 7 pt lead at the 1:40 mark 33-26. Hawks fought back to close to within 2 at the break 33-31. 1st 4 mins. of the 2nd half saw 6 ties and 6 lead changes. With the score tied at 43 the Cardinals led by Errol Daniyan, and Chris Ruiz went on a 17-2 run over the next 4:30 to lead 60-45 with 11:34 remaining. Cards led by as much as 19 at 71-52 before Curle emptied the bench.
Plattsburgh was led by the game's leading scorer Daniyan with a huge double- double of 26pts and 15 boards. R. J. Ponesse added 17 pts and 6 rebs. while Ruiz held to 2 pts in the 1st period broke loose for 11 in the 2nd half to finish with 13 points. New Paltz placed 4 guys in double figures led by Matt Hauser with 17, Lee Bertram with 15, Harris Wichard with 14 and Connor Cornine added 13. Once again the Hawks played without their top 2 scorers as Shereef Taylor and Jayquan Anderson both absent.

Say it ain't so jdex!
Went to D3Hoops scoreboard around 8:30 this evening to see that Potsdam had beaten Oneonta 88-80. Also showed that score on both D3 school info pages and on the D3 Hoops SUNYAC page. Showed 4 teams tied for 1st with a 4-2 record. Thought, great, the Bears got a share of the lead. Left the house and came home around 11:30 to discover your post with the real scores and stats. Turns out 1st place was only an illusion. Oh well it felt good for a few hours. Oswego's chances for a 1st place share turned out to be an illusion also thanks to Buff St. When the Bengals started out 0-6(0-2conf) I don't think many figured they would be in the hunt. Nice turnaround for them, but  they still haven't won on the road yet.

Not only is NP missing their top two scorers in Taylor and Anderson.  I was looking at the stats and they are also missing Jenkins who was playing 18 minutes a game for them and looked to be one of the better shooters off the bench.  I havent seen all the teams in the conference but after watching the geneseo game i thought the hawks had a chance of winning the league. I think the league is up for grabs.  Its not how you start but how you finish.  To bad for the hawks

magicman

New Paltz Coach stated Taylor, Anderson, and Jenkins, all freshmen, are most likely out for the rest of the semester due to academic ineligibility. That's almost 36 ppg and 14 rebounds per game the Hawks will need to replace. Probably too much to overcome for the Hawks to remain in contention. With 9 conference games left and 5 of them on the road,  they will be lucky to go 3-6 in that stretch.

Yes. If a school reports a score it appears everywhere. We have to believe schools are capable of reporting correctly.

Utica shot 23 - 27 from the line in a second half 86 - 73 win at Potsdam. This Bears group has never committed to learn and play team defense. Who is the defensive floor leader? Each of theses Bears need to look at the statement defining Potsdam basketball on the athletics department home page.
